nope. there was also a guy with a big glazers banner getting roughed up by stewards at the same time
It was like 1984 at Old Trafford tonight then. The people booing Van Gaal were actually booing because the stewards were beating on a young couple for holding hands.

“Of course [it is a step backwards] because our aim in the first year and also the second and the third shall be the Champions League. It is the highest level and a club like Manchester United has to play at that level but there are more clubs that want to play at that level and you have seen that.
 So his plan from the start was to give us 4th place for 3 years? Is his "transition" to turn us into Arsenal?

6:30

Guess it was a little silly of us to expect that we could go from just being "very close" to being champions last season to top four this season.

He doesn't really receive a lot of abuse.

I almost burst a blood vessel booing so hard & there were still people clapping him. The mind boggles.

I wasn't booing the stewards, I was booing Van Gaal & by all accounts wasn't alone.

mate were you in the Stretford end, did you see the kid on the pitch?

some of the boos before the speech
The boos were directed at Van Gaal.

Notice the combination of boos and little to no clapping when he was introduced. Everybody saw it, everybody reported it, even he was asked about it.

May be you were watching his speech with Bayern this time.

You're clutching at straws here. The fans weren't booing when it was mathematically impossible for us to win the league. They booed when it was mathematically impossible for us to finish 4th.

You're making even less sense than him to be honest. Like he thinks we would be booing if we came second... Come on.

Claiming the fans expect too much by demanding fourth doesn't make sense when he himself said we should be aiming for third or above. That's clear.

I've no reason to clutch at straws, I want him to leave like everyone else. There's lots of justifiable stuff to criticise him for without going overboard on what he says in a post match interview.

Mind you same thing happened with Moyes.

Very good, were you there? notice the guy above saying there were applause aswell for him. that clip is quite subdued, and the booing started long before the speech due to the steward incidents

He said expectations were too high and then 10 minutes later he says we could win the league next season. If only we hadn't been robbed of 16 penalties, we'd have won the goal difference!

Way, way too high he said. Top 4 isn't realistic? Getting out of a CL group most of us celebrated getting isn't realistic? Drawing Liverpool in Europe after beating them twice no problem in the league, but beating them in Europe is not realistic? Finishing 3 points ahead of Southampton is our realistic position after spending what £300m over the last few seasons?

Are you this guy? "I can assure you the booing was all a misunderstanding and all United fans everywhere are unanimous in their support of our glorious leader"

I'm a bit in a foul mood today, obviously pissed at Van Gaal and not at you. But I still think it's obvious what the fans are mad about, and I have no doubt he knows what the fans were booing about.

Let's just chalk this one off as agree to disagree.

The real question is were you there? You couldn't even tell this year's speech from last year's speech, and you want us to count on your observations (assuming you're telling the truth)? Besides, you just had somebody who attended the game (and was sober) tell you clearly what he was booing about. I can't think of any reason for you going on here other than wumming to be honest.

I was under the impression the boos were for the stewards. The commentators on sky said they were booing that. I hope they were wrong and they were also aimed at lvg.

Some proper soft people on this forum.

I was, you seem to be under the impression I'm telling you nobody was booing him. The 2nd half the mood raised, eventually to the point where all subs were getting standing ovations, songs being sung. the guy you mention says to his anger while he was booing others were applauding. at full whistle people were applauding the team. a few incidents happened (Stretford end anyway) which started people off

This video should be enough to answer both of you.

Lets assume, we win the FA cup, and LVG is to be sacked, how soon do people think it will happen?

The parade will take place on the Monday, i think? So assume it will be after that, how long will the club wait?

Sorry booing at the stewards for what?

that answers nothing ive explained to you, apparentely even the commentators allude to it
and the kid running on the pitch near the tunnel
The kid ran near the tunnel and the banner was removed exactly in the second when Van Gaal's name was mentioned (at second 17 in the video)?? Did you watch the video? Watch it again.

And you can also hear the commentators talking about the boos being directed at Van Gaal.

no these things happened before anyone was talking, when people were bored waiting for the address and players and staff were standing round doing nothing. I was below that banner and to the side of the kid argument

I was thinking the same. It wouldn't be fair to sack him while they're celebrating the trophy.

Probably closer to Mourinho's July 1st start date, if it is to happen at all.

I voted to let him see out his contract .

I don't want us to be a sacking club, and think that longer term it may suit the club better if we are seen to honour a contract. I also really want pocchetino to come in, and next season he's gonna be more attainable ( in my opinion )

Also , and this might seem a bit weird , as much as I have not enjoyed 95% of van gaals time as manager , I don't think I've ever found myself disagreeing with his comments in an interview or most recently, his assessment of our season .

When he does leave , it's gonna be really interesting to see what comments the players have about him . I bet the vast majority of them like him .

So you'd rather we lose all the other United traditions of "attack, attack, attack" and winning trophies and being the biggest club in England just so that we can keep an arrogant, incompetent old fool as manager?

The whole point of "not being a sacking club" doesn't mean managers are never sacked. It means they are given time and patience to build their team. Van Gaal has had two seasons of complete crap, and he doesn't have the excuse hat Fergie had of trying to build a club from the ground up.

Ron Atlinson was sacked, Docherty was sacked, Sexton was sacked, O'Farrell was sacked, Mcguiness was sacked. We've sacked plenty of managers in the past and should not be afraid to pull the trigger when results have not improved after hundreds of millions of pounds being spent and two seasons wasted.

I'm saying I could suffer it ( though I don't think it'd be as bad next season , injuries HAVE played their part in performances being poor there's no doubt about that ) in the hope that it would yield long term benefits for the club .

Yes & yes. I booed the stewards grabbing the kid, but then I - like many others - specifically booed Van Gaal.

I'd take that with a pinch of salt. Sky watch the game on screens behind a glass window, they might as well be at home watching it. Plus, the media have been petrified of Van Gaal all season, why else would he get away with dodging real questions by giving sh1t, non-answers at every press conference?

Van Gaal was unmistakably booed by a significant number in the crowd.... Just too few if you ask me.
