"We were top for the whole of Monday until the dog ate my homework."

I don't know to be honest but it just didn't feel right seeing a 64 year old man stood in the pissing rain in an empty stadium being booed. Maybe I'm going soft.

He may not have achieved our objectives, but its not through lack of trying or application. Many of us were delighted when he was appointed and excited about many of the signings he made.. He is a thoroughly decent person with strong values and ethics.

I think he deserves all the constructive criticism and it should cost him his job, but there is no reason to part on bad terms or with malice. It simply didn't work but thats no reason to hate him.

Did Van Gaal himself not keep claiming we were in a title race in December and January? And now that he finishes 5th he claims the expectations were too high

Sorry for expecting Manchester United to at least finish in the top 4, Gaal-boy. It's obviously too much for you.

I hope the millions he will get in his sacking will help him get over it

Expectations too high but of course he won't mind receiving 5 million$ for his 'service'.

What a hack fraud.

I'm sometimes close to feeling sorry for him but then he says some daft thing, blames everyone/thing but himself, acts arogant and I remember he gets paid millions.

5th place is where we belong.

With expectations like this, yep. Need to take action and genuinely aim to improve or we'll be lingering there for a long while, with the occasional title challenge or two. This idea that it'll inevitably happen at some stage because it's Manchester United is hurting the club.

"..but maybe I have to bring the message over much clearer"

What the heck does that even mean?

Good riddance you Cloggy bastard. Expectations too high despite finishing top 4 last season and being given a shit loads to spend again.

Ye I agree. Despite how badly he's performed as manager I can't help but like the man.

van Gaal also blaming injuries in November and December - after trimmed the squad far too thin by sacking off players and not replacing them adequately. Shambolic stuff all round.

Anyone else feel a bit sorry for him there?

Not really!

Ah man why did I wait for then post match. Blaming injuries and lack of creative players again.

The expectations are much too high?! feck off.

Shreeves going in with two feet.

"You got booed. Do you understand that?!"

Louis says the fans are expecting too much

Twat saying fans expectations too high.

LVG saying that the fans expectations are too high.

'Expectations too high'.

Absolute moron.

Expectations to high and he needs to be clearer, feck off you cretin

Only one more game left to feck up Louie. I've got a great idea, as a sign-off, why not rip up that creative attack from today by putting Fellaini up front?

He looks like he's going to start crying. I don't think he's saying that the expectations are unreasonable, but more that he can't reach them.
:(

Okay I've changed my mind. Why weren't more fans there to boo him during his speech?!

If only he had the bottle to say that in his actual speech. See how the crowd react to that.

It is what it is. He doesn't give good answers on the spot but I think inside he knows he has failed this club.

Sad to hear posters call LVG names like "cnut" because he's a 60+ year old man who tried to bring success back to the club. Yes, he failed and miserably so. But lets try and be classy supporters eh

Its strange that LVG has managed big clubs with huge expectations, so our expectation to finish above 5th place should'nt be a surprise to him.
It's the sort of thing which you'd expect from Moyes...not LVG.

He also mentioned a lack speed and creativity up front this season, yet persisted with an over the hill Rooney for 4 months

He's getting 5 milski for his troubles, he'll live.

I'm just reassured that he's got the gig of guitarist with Iggy Pop

Yeah, why are people even getting angry at the constant patronising shit from him telling us how our expectations are too high despite spending 250 mln pounds within two years and actually managing to regress during that period.
