We're not even winning the FA Cup anyway. Our defending was comical today, absolutely horrendous organisation.
That argument works both ways. Maybe you're the clever-arsed top red for seeing beyond the potential short-term spoils of an FA Cup (or semi at least) and realising that a heavy, depressing defeat is far preferable.I had a mate text me after the game and say 'Yay LvG gets to stay another year'. Plenty share how you feel but you'll get the usual crap on here off fans that think they're better than most. Personally, I would happily sacrifice the FA Cup and 4th place if I knew, as a guarantee, that this clown would get the sack.
Of course we can win the F.A. Cup.We're not even winning the FA Cup anyway. Our defending was comical today, absolutely horrendous organisation.
I have addressed this is another post above.
Hope so. Everyone gets to save face and the trophy cupboard aint quite so bare. Far too long since we won the FA Cup.Him winning the cup would be a perfect opportunity for him to stride into the sunset a winner, everyone's happy!
YesI respectfully disagree and I really do not understand that point of view at all. Why would you ever want the club you support to do poorly in any circumstance?
Yes with some hypothetical scenario with assured outcomes, this is not how the world works unfortunately
Yes
If it meant stopping Liverpool or City winning a trophy. I also understand why some would accept short term pain for possible long term success.
Well why quote me in the first place? I hardly waded into this thread saying I sat watching the match in my full West Ham kit blowing bubbles around my sitting room. I said if there were guarantees he would go, I would take the sacrifice. It was supposed to be hypothetical. No idea why you bothered to quote me. You could have actively quoted people who actually said they don't want to win it, I never said that. Barking up the wrong tree and all that, lad....

Same here, if we get to the final, win the trophy. Even SAF couldn't get the F.A. Cup in his later years. It will show that yes, LvG might not be the right manager for us in some aspects, but the club is not completely in a terminal decline.Football is fickle, I say take the trophies while you can because there are no assurances down the road. That is only my opinion of course.
You are making up hypotheticals in which you would hope for the team you support to lose, strikes me as bit odd lad...
Rashford will have had Jose leaping out of his seat and TFM is the sort of physical specimen he likes. Lingard is a hard worker. They have all been brought up the right way.Failing the obvious goal of top 4, this would be a ideal outcome.
VG leaves a winner, and can retire off, having "succeeded" to some extent, Mourinho can come in, and I wouldn't imagine he'll ignore the potential of Rashford, Lingard and FM, at least as squad players.

Yep, just hope Woody can see it and, er, we don't feck it up. I fully expected us to lose easily tonight tbh.Failing the obvious goal of top 4, this would be a ideal outcome.

The fact that Liverpool fans are rooting for lvg says it all.Come on LVG win the FA Cup. Do it for us neutrals.
No, again I never said that. You really aren't getting this. If I knew LvG would definitely go if we didn't win the cup; I would sacrifice winning the cup. It would be better for the club long term, I believe. It's not that hard to comprehend. This board is full of hypothetical situations, in fact, the vast majority is based on who we might sign, what might happen if we do x, y or z. Look at the Mourinho thread, there's people running around on a daily basis proclaiming he'll definitely be here next season. Hmmmm, hypothetical much?
No idea why you have taken such offence to what I said.

Sure to be punished by high flying Everton and Palace. We're not even winning the FA Cup anyway. Our defending was comical today, absolutely horrendous organisation.

You are conflating disagreement with taking offence. I think it is silly to make up situations in which I would want the club to lose. It is your prerogative to do so but I am completely within my rights to criticize you for it.

So many times this season and last, I've woken up and gone to the sports pages expecting to see an LVG sacked headline. I figure we just have to enjoy the few bright spots where we can, eg tonight, City, DDG, Tim, Rash etc...
If he calls round for a beer, would you rub your bell on the rim of the glass you give him? Or at least teabag his beer.I never want us to lose as I don't think he's going anywhere. Put it this way, if Woodward called around to mine for a beer and a chat and told me he would sack LvG if we don't win the cup, then yeah, I would rather we didn't win it. Since there's no such guarantee, then I obviously hope we win it.
Ok I'm going to leave it there. I usually see people's perspective but I can't see your point or why you quoted me. If you wanted to debate with someone who pretty much actively wished defeat upon us, you had your pick. Instead you're being pedantic over a hypothetical situation about the club losing a match when there's been numerous posts, heck even threads about that exact topic. As I said, this place is full of hypothetical threads, posts etc. I can't see your point so no point continuing this.
Anyhow, I'll leave it at this; as previously stated, I have a bad feeling this idiot will be here next season so roll on winning the cup.
If he calls round for a beer, would you rub your bell on the rim of the glass you give him? Or at least teabag his beer.
Not being pedantic, I just don't get the point of statements such as 'if I could be sure LVG would be sacked I would sacrifice the FA cup/top 4'. This statement is built on the assumption that LVG would 100% be sacked in that scenario without taking into account the complexities of the real world and the relative rarity of winning trophies in football.
It's only my opinion of course and you are free to do as you please, I just don't understand it.
Ok you don't get these statements, it was no big deal, just a post, the kind of posts this forum thrives on.
I don't get the whole 'Mourinho will 100% be here next season' lark. But I guess it's a confusing place to all of us at different times. Not saying you said that by the way but plenty have.
Just don't stab your ball on the cocktail stick!I would definitely teabag his beer when he's in the bog. Although, I would say he's more of a sophisticated cocktail kinda guy.

You're right, your posts are the type of posts this forum thrives on, not those disagreeing with your posts.
Yes, so confusing.
And you're more of a "shit in their handbag" type of guy
