He wins the FA Cup and he should retire. It's a trophy, he won't get one next season.

Ed is looking for an excuse to keep this idiot and top 4 or not the FA cup will provide him the excuse, if we win the FA cup he'll be here next season.

what an awful situation feeling like you want to win, but knowing that a win helps lvg.

Exactly how I feel. I'm happy we won but in the back of my mind I just know t means LVG is that much safer in his job for now.

I really think he needs to go at all costs, even if it means we don't win the FA Cup. Winning the FA Cup is not worth having him manage us for another season.

The torture could end up lasting until the 21st May.

It might even be until the end of the 17/18 season. He's an expert at falling to greater depths only to survive and do just about enough, then falling to greater depths again.

Fair play

After the newspaper reports saying players were pissed off he got a terrific response from them today

Assuming he is going it would be fantastic to finish with a trophy...I'm desperate for it any ways

No. No it didn't at all. If it did you aren't doing this whole football thing right.

Tight 2-1 win to get to Wembley... "Felt like a defeatl
Thanks for the correction mate. next time I need some T0p Red to tell me how to support my football club I'll give you a call. Keep that head nice and buried in the sand.

Considering how lenient the board have been so far, he will almost certainly stay if we win the FA cup even without a top 4 finish.

I'm cringing just thinking about another season of LVG football.

He's like a Cockroach, he could sit there until they demolish Upton Park and he'd still be sitting there with his clipboard when only the rubble remained.

I'm guessing that winning the FA Cup combined with the likelihood of young players getting more game time next season isn't going to be enough to change anyone's mind on LVG?

Winning the FA cup is the best possible send off he could possibly get, but nothing justifies keeping him for another year.

You don't have to be a "t0p red" to enjoy seeing your side win a game FFS.
Look, I don't want to get into a slanging match on the Internet with someone ive never met. But I just don't share your enthusiasm.

Yes it's brilliant that we have these youngsters coming through, but is there any evidence that lvg can replicate this performance on a regular basis?

Tonights performance was excellent but it was preceded by two absolutely awful displays. The city game was another excellent display but that was preceded by three garbage showings against Liverpool and West Ham at home. So we're getting one good display every three/four games at the moment. It's been the same story throughout lvg's reign.

Even the clueless BBC commentators were saying it's amazing that lvg has managed to slither his way this far. And this victory will only allow him to slither a little further.

If you're happy about tonight's display, fair play - it was a great performance and it would be brilliant if we could play like that more often. I just don't see it though.

@Twigginater is such a dick. Fancy wanting the club you love to win.

Exactly. For all the promise of rashford and TFM, tonight felt like a defeat

I had a mate text me after the game and say 'Yay LvG gets to stay another year'. Plenty share how you feel but you'll get the usual crap on here off fans that think they're better than most. Personally, I would happily sacrifice the FA Cup and 4th place if I knew, as a guarantee, that this clown would get the sack.

Oh god forbid people want us to win a trophy.

What terrible fans they must be.

With you 100 pc on that mate. Fair play to those who want to enjoy the vibrant display tonight though.. Everyone has the right to support the club in their own way

I can't imagine we would sack him if he won the cup. We'll probably lose to Everton anyway.

he's going either way, not sure why people don't understand it's sealed!!

Him winning the cup would be a perfect opportunity for him to stride into the sunset a winner, everyone's happy!

Winning the FA Cup should have absolutely no bearing for keeping LVG or not. If that's what we have become then we have fallen a lot further than I though originally.

I respectfully disagree and I really do not understand that point of view at all. Why would you ever want the club you support to do poorly in any circumstance?

Nope, never said that. I would love for the players sake to win a trophy alright. But it will come at a price. So get off your high horse pal.

Says who? You?

So you know that LVG will be gone if we don't win the FA Cup? No? Well then how does the self-flagellation help? Willing the club to lose, or worse, actually being annoyed when they win, is just downright bizarre. It's been 12 years since we've won the FA Cup, I certainly don't think we should be so willing to throw it away on the off chance that it might mean LVG goes.

No I didn't. Lets say in a hypothetical situation Woodward came out tomorrow and said that LvG will definitely be sacked if we don't win the FA Cup and finish Top 4: Would I sacrifice both for him to go? Yes I certainly would and I have no problem admitting that either. Ultimately LvG is causing more harm to this club than good and another season / two transfer windows with him here will hurt us more. So actually, it's what I feel would be best long term for the club. So really, you should have read my post properly when I said 'guarantee' he would go.

Honestly, lets say only winning the FA Cup will keep him here; what good is that long team? I mean if you knew he would go if we don't win it, would you still want to win it? When you and I both know that once the initial euphoria is gone, the depressing thoughts of him being here another season will set in.

Fwiw, I have a horrible feeling that he's here next season no matter what. So yeah, I do hope we get top 4 and win the cup. Only because I feel he's here no matter what.
