As Kluivert has pointed out, LVG sometimes struggles with older players who have developed their own unique style so I struggle to see De Bruyne slotting in the same manner. And who the hell do these modern professionals even think they are nowadays, with their individualism, their own carefully crafted styles and unique technique that they spent countless hours on the training ground developing? For the ship to sail, it needs all its mates pulling in the same direction. Its the reason Industrial factories work so well, since everyone knows their exact role and don't deviate from them. I like my hamburgers round. If some rebel in the Birds eye camp started shaping square shaped burgers and triangular fish fingers, I'd consider going vegan. And besides, if the players were expected to play like unique, creative individuals, how else would the likes of Ashley Young be able to slot seemlessly in at FB, CM LW, RW and CF? Could Enrique do that with Neymar? Hell no, because the demands in a non restrictive system are far too high. The beautiful thing about the philosophy is that its like a game of Subbuteo. Players can interchange position and you have the added excitement of never knowing what position your favourite player could turn up in next. Mike Smalling at CF could be a sight to remember.

The philosophy is beautiful to me. it's total football with a twist. Van Gaal is just ahead of his time. If you study the rules of netball, you'll see that players occupy certain zones like how Van Gaal has instructed his players. taken from the netball rulebook, "Only the GS and GA are able to score goals for your team. They must be wholly inside the goal circle to shoot." sound familiar? Van Gaal is no fool. He has been in the game a long, long time and senses a change coming. You wait and see. Mark my words. With all these new rules coming into football every few seasons, don't be too surprised to see professional footballers and netball players trading secrets. And then the next time you are at O.T. and see a beautifully crafted goal straight out of the netball playbook, you'll all have that light-bulb moment whilst whispering "thank you Louis" under your breath. And somewhere in the Portuguese Alrgarves, a red face, tulip headed man is basking in the sun on his inflatable water bed imprinted with the words philosophy. He has a wry smile on his face, as he was right all along.

Kinder, is that you?

How on earth did you make it to the mains?
Quite possibly the most obvious troll I have ever seen here.

Trouble is this prat has basically made me give up on football, I can't even watch and enjoy other games these days as it just shows how fecked up we are at the minute so one loss against West Ham which will probably happen anyway really doesn't matter in the long run.
I know what you mean, but I just cant bring myself to want us to lose, but I am strangely confident we will win.

Magnificent bit of Wumming in Louis-speak.

I'm sitting here browsing threads and just generally wasting time. Then it hits me. How log will it be after he's gone that I know longer read certain words with LVG's accent and voice in my head. Philosophy. it's a process, he shall always play, too risky, and my favorite, horny.

Don't forget, "Enjoy your wine and mince pies". A classic!

Do you remember, when he coined the phrase "horny", how the media and fans no longer focussed on the boring, negative football or the losses?
LVG may not be a great football tactician, but when it comes to saving his behind and deflecting away from the dire football, he knows exactly how to use the media.

You give him too much credit

Anyone who thinks LVG should stay needs to be slapped with a wet fish. Even if we make 4th and win the FA Cup he needs to be sacked.

To have so many under-par performances, depending on other teams to falter so we can get 4th place (let alone top 2 or 3), to watch our manager diminish the value of our club in his expectations with journos.. its beggars belief really. The new manager will have to fix so many areas wrongfully recruited. RB, CB, RW and attack. Arguably need one more CM as well. The team arrogance will need to be raised, the winning mentality, passion and grit that we were known for.

We've basically turned into a worse version of Arsenal under LVG. Winning the occasional big game, shrouded by false dawns, over dependence on misguided youth and possesion based nothing-ness.

The fact that he seemingly has unequivocal support from SAF is what really worries me.

Sir Alex is one of the smartest guys this business has ever seen. He will know full well that LVG's appointment has been a complete failure and that as a team we've regressed.

His support of Van Gaal is surely therefore agenda driven. He wants Giggs in the hot seat and feck the consequences.

If SAF still wants control he should never have fecking retired. I'm Fergies biggest fan, but right now I just wish that for the good of the club he'd cut all official ties with us.

This notion that Manchester United is better than everyone else and not a sacking club is absolute fecking bullshit.

If someone is failing in there job over a sustained period (I'm not suggesting that sacking a manager should be knee jerk) then it's gross negligence to keep them on due to some bullshit preconception that "we're better than everyone else".

If I was Ed Woodward I'd be far more concerned by the fact that most fans and football followers of other teams now see him and his board as a bunch of incompetent cnuts that are too spineless to do what needs to be done.

I wish he would just put a sock in it. Go and get a proper job Yorkie.
Why don't you just not read it the article if you know Yorke's motive and what his message is? (and are sick of hearing it) Move along from reading articles with Yorke's quotes plastered all over it instead of pasting it here for attention and taking an empty dig at him to shutup and do one?

They just re-hash these articles over and over to provoke a response like this. Goading fans in to spreading it around and showing their outrage on media websites. I am sure Dwight "talked to Omnisport" and had a similar response back in December/January. I'd not be surprised if he's not actually said anything recently and another outlet has just bunged the old quote in there.

He’s also had three years as an assistant now. I feel the time is right, as soon as Van Gaal’s contract finishes.
A year and three quarters. I feel this is probably the part of the article that should be highlighted and rings the bell of "probably brush over this and move on".

So this season is now officially worse than the Moyes season....

So him bigging Giggs up on Talksport the week before last was fabricated was it? What did they do, employ an impersonator?

The guy is actively trying to become the next Aston Villa boss and is doing everything in his power to try and promote giving inexperienced managers a chance.

The articles aren't being re-hashed at all, the guy is just a gob on a stick.

If you break it down, then yes. LVG has been such a failure that I find it difficult to believe that dithering Dave would have done a worse job!

Who knows, I don't read Talksport and I don't really care about Yorke's interests or his opinions on our manager situation. If that is his deal and you know he's a rent-a-gob then why not just ignore him? Why give him (well, the journalists who print with his quotes) the attention then?

It makes no sense to me.

That's a very good point. Even better posters won't speak in LvG talk, I'm convinced a lot of posters on here read his book and then did that thing of mimicking what they've read unconsciously. That has reduced already to be fair.

Talksport is a radio show in the UK mate.

Perhaps we should ignore comments/articles but it's difficult when someone is peddling nonsense that you deem to be detrimental to the club.

I can see why you would jump to this conclusion, as many people have, but I am not so sure. I think he is just being loyal, and is mindful of everything he has said over the years about being patient, supporting the manager, the manager is the most important person at the club, yadda yadda yadda.

It may be he doesnt want to open himself up to the charge of being a hypocrite. Or it may be that, if all those things came straight from the heart - as Im sure they did - he really feels it. He has been where Van Gaal is sitting right now so he knows what he is going through. Im sure people get weary hearing reminders that things werent plain sailing for SAF when he first arrived - the usual retort is that football has changed since then. And it has in some ways. But in others they are the same. And while it is pretty abstract for us, as fans, watching from the sidelines, but for SAF it must be far more real - this is absolutely something he went through.

SAF knows what LVG has achieved in his career and what he is capable of. I am sure he, like me, believes LVG is far from satisfied with our performances. I want him out, dont get me wrong, but I dont for a minute buy what a lot of other posters believe, which is that he actually WANTS us to play this kind of boring, play-for-one-goal shit. Something is going wrong, and he is struggling to fix it. I set an arbitrary timetable for him to resolve it (January this season) and when he didnt, I switched to wanting him gone. But given until January I was preaching patience, I can understand why some people would still advocate that. There is no reason why SAF's timetable should be the same as mine.

Having said all that, I think privately SAF probably does understand something has to change. Yes he may want Giggs, that is another subject really. The point is though, SAF undersdtands better than anyone what LVG is going through, and what it means to have pundits, journalists, fans and all sorts of other frankly clueless people (in the sense they have no real understanding of the specific pressures of management) baying for blood on the sidelines. I think he just doesnt want to be part of that. If he has anything negative to say I imagine he would rather say it in private.

What does Alex Ferguson's full support equate to really? One interview recently where he said we had a lot of injuries. I never seen it but as far as I know he didn't even mention Van Gaal by name or say anything about his future.

I don't recall SAF once saying LVG should stay. All he's done is contextualize our form with the injuries we've had.

This.

Do the 54 people still want him to see out his contract, surely not?

Can only assume that those 54 people have been banned or died since voting took place. Either that or LvG himself has a proxy IP and multiple redcafe logins...

He will be gone tomorrow

He most definitely will not, tomorrow at least.

Woodward should have let him go at Christmas , I think we are stuck with him till the end of the season but he will go.

The fact that the club has been devalued by 400m since the start of the season means that if Woodward doesn't let him go, the glazers will. Money talks.

Not that i am saying you are wrong, but the performance of Utd on the pitch and drop in value is not a direct correlation. Yes, there will most likely have been an impact, however, global markets are once again in a downward spiral - that is the bigger factor in the drop in value.

LonelyFire has got a point kind of. We can't measure United as we can other companies on the stock market as the stock performance will be influenced mostly commercially. Because we are becoming more of a business, our performance on the pitch is holding less importance to investors. recruiting Pep as our manager won't raise share prices like hiring a director who is known to develop innovative products and raise company growth by 16% each year. The glazers don't plan to sell anytime soon so the value of the club won't matter too much

That makes more sense than wanting him to see out his contract

In the thread about the drop its said the market has dropped 0.8% but we've dropped 22.8%

It's just been one big painful experiment by an out-of-touch senior citizen to prove his tactical approach is still relevant.

I know that comparing anyone to Ferguson is probably not going to be a fair fight but he was much older than Van Gaal and yet he was always evolving and adapting and looking at new tactical and training methods. Van Gaal doesn't seem interested in adapting to be relevant and enjoy success in different eras. His whole modus operandi seems to be a determination to prove that his mid 90s approach still works - it doesn't.

In the thread about the drop its said the market has dropped 0.8% but we've dropped 22.8%

Again, not necessarily comparable. How someone has calculated 0.8% across every industry i'll never know, however, within investments you have thriving markets over others. That "0.8%" is made up of those that are thriving versus many that are floundering. Utd are in the latter.

As i said, to say results have had no impact on the valuation is definitely not true, but that's not to say its completely responsible.

Today would be half the job done, out of the FA cup and Can't qualify for Europe and he will be gone I reckon, probably wait to announce at the end of the season though as its a bit pointless letting him go for the last few games.
