Carroll,Mason and Kane are the only three homegrown players.

Neither Carroll not Mason have had a big impact this season. They have only 4 and 6 starts each. At 23 and 24 years old I suspect both will move on in the summer.

It's not just about which players are classified as "homegrown" (tho' these also include Josh Onomah, who has made 19 appearances for the first team). Youth development goes well beyond this.

Danny Rose began life at Spurs by played in our academy and reserves, as did Bentaleb. Alli has comes on in leaps and bounds since he was signed at the age of 18. Kyle Walker us joined aged 19, Lamela was 21 and so was Eriksen.

Any, I won't comment further on this since it's not an appropriate thread.

Yep, I'm very confident that we'll keep all of them. They'll have CL football to look forward to, plus a pay rise no doubt for most. They'll also want to stay with Pochettino. And on top of that the internal team spirit and bonding appears to be very strong. Also, even if we don't win the title this time around (and the odds are against it), the internal belief will be there that the team can push on further next season.
Yeah, I have little doubt that Spurs will keep all their players. For me, the real question comes at the end of next season or the season after.

I think it's reasonable to assume top four will be more (or at least as) difficult for Spurs next season - everyone will strengthen. If Spurs can maintain a top four spot for the foreseeable future, I don't see any of the big players leaving.

I also think people are forgetting just how young the squad is. If Kane et al. want to move to a bigger club, there is plenty of time for that in 2 or 3 years. If these players truly think they're top class players, a big move isn't needed yet.

Real, Barca, Bayern for sure, to a lesser extent PSG, Juve, United, Chelsea, City

Didn't you just rule out RM in your earlier post? Anyhow, Levy won't willingly sell any star player, so the question becomes: which player(s) would actively agitate for a move this summer through being so unhappy at the prospect of being forced to stay and play in the Champions League under Pochettino? Answer: none, because they are all happy at Spurs and with the way things are developing.

I won't comment further on this in this thread.

Both Rose and Bentaleb didnt start their career at Spurs. All the best young Spurs players have been bought in.(Bar Kane).

From Martin Samuel's article

One of the leading journalist in English football. Doesnt appear even he has a clue.

He said most of that on the Sunday supplement, the parts about the other clubs preparing for the future and being able to show prospective signings (and sponsors) where they are going compared to what we're doing shows how badly were being run, if they haven't sorted what's happening next year then we're already behind everyone else yet again while they have as much, if not more to offer than us, the board are complete imbeciles!

Which players in their right mind would choose us over City , Arsenal, Spurs who can offer cl football and a clear idea of where they want to be compared to us not knowing who will be manager and if LVB is still here why the hell would anyone want to play for him compared to the other managers?

This is without even mentioning Chelsea who have sorted their manager already and most agree this year was a massive blip and can offer London,Conte etc.

Then there's Liverpool who have a charismatic manager who I'd guess most players would prefer to play under than someone who seems to destroy players very quickly, and I'm sure they will improve under him pretty soon.

We should be taking advantage of the extra tv money and adidas deal etc to get us back up but it seems we're happier to just take the cash and not even try to stop the downward spiral, absolutely unbelievable and unacceptable that Manchester United are being run this way and are letting it get worse by not acting when everyone else is doing the exact opposite!

I've hardly been on here recently as he's taken all the joy out of football for me, I can't even enjoy watching other games/leagues as it just reminds me what bunch of cretins we have seemingly happy to ruin all the good work Ferguson etc did before.

I'm just glad moto gp, f1 etc have started so I can watch something I enjoy!

One things for sure if anyone from Spurs wants to push a move through to us in this state and with LVB still here they need to have their head examined!

People on here thinking We will get Kane are seriously deluded, it was hard when we were at our best to get Spurs players nevermind now, and again who in their right mind would want to swap from you to us.

If Kane came I'd give it a few months before he's having no shots in a game and has been played at CB, RB or LB at some point, gooooooooooooood I fecking hate LVB!

The club themselves have got to have a clear picture and drive before they think they can grab any top target, if they think they can take any spurs player with this clown in-charge, Woodward and co better keep drinking the Koolaid and live in cloud la la land, because in reality it aint happening. You got to have a manager in charge who is likeble and can do their damn job, before they can go anywhere. Because decisions like playing fellaini in midfield, a youngster who plays upfront at RB, ashley young upfront, his first game back after months on the sidelines, Woodward and his cronies at board level truly are deluded its hilarious

If woodward thinks the clubs so called size can get them all by, he really is a joke. VG's desperation to get fans on his side, by taking some desperate shot how big united are compared to spurs, its like an old lion past his best can still call himself king of the pride, when the younger male has battered him

Yeah, feck LvB. Whoever he is.

There was more spirit amongst the crew and passengers on the final hours of the titanic sinking, than what is happening at united, I doubt any of the squad would take a bullet for each other, VG would just watch while the squad gets slaughtered than do anything about it. It will be interesting how many fans will want to renew their season tickets, if the board continue to run the club like this. Because it seems to be on purpose the way they are running the club, to save a few bucks. Why should fans give back to the club? they way they run this club

Exactly, every other top team have a plan and have already acted on it yet here we are supposed "biggest club in the world " having screwed our selves with Moyes instead of the correct decision and now having not learned a single thing in that period are doing the same thing again and even worse, I can't honestly understand why people say Moyes was worse, I hated the prat but given the time and money involved this is far worse!

The place is a shambles and a laughing stock, yet people don't want mourinho because of the things he MAY do, yet ignore what this clown has already done to the image of the club etc.

Oh yes its a farce, like I said it will be interesting if they keep VG, how many want to renew their season tickets? Because why should fans renew? knowing the board seem to almost making these decisions not only on purpose, but doing it to save their own skin and are willing to sink the ship. There is sticking through the club through thick and thin, but then there is the board purposely running this club into the ground, because they don't know how to run a successful team, out of costs saving their own job by keeping the idiot incharge, and hoping the team makes the top 4 by the skin of their teeth like 2015. VG will always be known has the 3 game wonder last season, which bought him a second season and he may get a third

Well said.

I am seriously begining to wonder if LVG even knows which player is which, when you look at where he is playing the players, many playing in false positions. Like yesterday with Young playing as CF when he really should have switched him with Martial. We all know about the "Mike" Smalling thing. No surprise then mixing up an Anthony and an Ashley. Good bye LVG.

Can you imagine, Woodward & Jose
Woodward: So, Jose, if hired as the MUFC manager, what do you believe is achievable?
Jose: Yes, we must aim to score 1 goal every game and hopefully get top 4. But I can only achieve this if I am given £250M to spend.
Woodward: So you need to spend the equivalent of buying Messi and Ronaldo, to get top 4?
Jose: Yes.

When I read this I can't help but hear the sound of the voice of the guy who used to do Mourinho imitations. And of course that show "Special1 TV".

This explains why Fellaini got injured after LVG shoved his head down the toilet

People on here thinking We will get Kane are seriously deluded,

I have seen plenty of delusions from MUFC fans, on this very forum. And some of the delusions are really far fetched.

Kane and Ibra (if LVG stays), are 2 good ones.
The belief that we could win the EL. This was just before the 2nd leg of the LFC game.
Then there was the delusion of winning the league, where after 1 win, fans believed that we could catch LCFC. I stated that LCFC will open up the gap and that is what happened.
The latest delusions are top 4 and FA Cup. Once again, MCFC are likely to open up a gap over us and WHU will probably beat us.
Then there are the deluded fans who believe we can score 2 or more goals in 1 game - and these fans are present in every single match day thread. I ask them to explain how they arrived at this decision and I am given sarcastic answers.
Then there are the fans who cannot understand why a player would pick Real Madrid or PSG, over us. I explained this once and got a lot of abuse.

My belief is that there are some fans who don't watch our games, they don't know our score lines, they don't know what our (default) game plan is and still believe we are one of the favourites to win the title, when the season starts.

Jose could pretty much also go "You gave the previous Guy 230 million or therabouts plus 2 seasons and he couldn't even get you top 4 let alone thinking or challenging for a trophy. "

Jose's ego won't allow him to ever talk about finishing in 4th place.
If you ask him where he can get MUFC, he'll say top 3 minimum. And in the 2nd season, a title charge.
To be fair if any manager (Pulis or Howe, for example) were given £250M to spend, you'd expect them to mount a title challenge (LVG, excepted).

Couldn't have said it better myself bud, so many valid points, also it's hilarious that people change their vote when we beat Shrewsbury for instance it's laughable!

If 2013-14 never happened, you'd have expected Moyes to be able to do that too, no?

Has it not become quite clear to people? Succeeding Fergie is a bit of a poisoned chalice... All bets are off.

Here's the article:

A number of Manchester United’s senior players are growing increasingly frustrated with Louis van Gaal’s tendency to blame them for the club’s poor results and performances, rather than acknowledging any shortcomings in his tactics or style of play.

United’s defeat away at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday left the Dutchman’s team in 6th place in the Premier League, four points adrift of Man City in fourth with six games left to play. That raises the possibility of United missing out on the Champions League entirely – something Van Gaal himself has admitted is the ‘minimum requirement’ for the season – for the second time in three years.

There is still no consensus within the Old Trafford hierarchy as to whether the Dutchman should be allowed to see out the third and final year of his contract. The club’s board is split between those who would see Jose Mourinho replace the former Bayern Munich manager, and those who believe that Ryan Giggs, Van Gaal’s assistant, would better represent a continuation of United’s tradition.

Until one side is persuaded, Van Gaal may limp on, though there were claims in the Netherlands yesterday that he may be prepared to consider a role with Ajax, his former club, in the summer. [More on those claims yawn.]

Van Gaal’s reign at United, certainly, is growing increasingly mired in difficulty, although he received a boost last night when Wayne Rooney, who has been out for two months with a knee injury – the longest injury absence of his career – returned to action with an hour-long appearance for the club’s under-21 side.

As well as simmering discontent among fans and scathing criticism from the club’s former players – most notably Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand – in the media, his relationship with many of the present squad is strained.

Although the young players he has brought through this season remain largely positive towards him, and there is no widespread sense of mutiny, several of the more experienced members of the side are increasingly unimpressed by his tendency to blame them for setbacks.

Van Gaal’s analysis of matches focuses on their failure to implement his tactical plans, rather than acknowledging any failure of the plan itself, both in public, and in private.

They have also grown increasingly baffled by his determination to play players out of position – with the likes of Juan Mata deployed wide, and Jesse Lingard, a winger, given a No 10 role – even after the injury crisis that has hampered the club this season has started to subside. That he makes plain their shortcomings – rather than admitting any mistakes on his part – has caused consternation.

Tbh, though I don't doubt there's some discontent, that reads like the writer has just assumed there's discontent.

useless fecking cnuts.

useless fecking cnuts.

Sadly, you can bet that they'll take what they consider to be the safe option: stick with van Gaal and hope things work out next season (unless things go truly disastrously before this season's end).

Clueless: Manchester United players turn on Louis van Gaal after Tottenham shambles
Respect for LVG has gone as club goes into meltdown

Ouch - It's falling apart.

Have no idea how he can reclaim the dressing room without selling 10 more players and bringing in another load of new faces!

Best actuality for Us is to keep losing, even in FA cup, finish below Europa League qualification so that he has to be released a year early from his contract.

And let the next dawn begin!

Its sad its come to this but sometimes you have to move backwards before you can move forward.

I hope Sunday has shown the high ups at Old Trafford to not go down the LvG route any longer than this season even if we do fluke a 4th spot. He's been caught out so many times in the Premier League, you think maybe he's getting the hang of it then he'll undo it all. No more false dawns.

His transfers have also been really poor, call it bad judgment or bad luck but the bad outweigh the good and the resulting squad is not strong enough. Chico scoring 25 goals, he scored like 18 for us in 2013 in just 24 appearances. When Chico slipped and missed the pen I couldn't believe Van Gaals look to Giggs. That's incredibly poor judgment, the best of the best miss penalties, either don't take them or make a mistake. Our biggest problem is we rely on a boy of 19 being asked to beat 4-5 people and slide it under the keeper from the left wing. We go a goal down and it's a mountain to climb

It's alarming to think how LvG has got worse since the 4th place of last season. We had Young crossing the ball and making stuff happen. Martial should be playing off the last defender, you see how slippery he is, he's a cool customer who can switch it left or right and also can get remarkable headers like the one against CSKA. This guy can beat one, two, even three sometimes, but not four five each time.

Again with the nonsense about the board being split. Such ignorant drivel. I'd love to know exactly which Glazer it is who is favouring Giggs over Mourinho, since they're the only ones with votes.

More like kiss of death.
