The more I think about it, the more I'm certain he's staying. I actually don't think it even matters where we finish in the league now.
If he survives to next season, then He will be like Rodgers where any poor results and the fans will be on his back. Even in the first 10 games of the season. He has little if any goodwill left with most of the fans, and a lot of us believe that he should have been fired ages ago.
Its been very hard seeing him being our manager for the last few months. Through all the embarrassing results, the woeful football and the excuses and arrogance. The only thing that has given me hope is that we couldn't possibly be stupid enough to give him another season, but there is always that bit of doubt in your mind. I think our board is run by people with their own self interests in mind, and saving face by not having to fire another manager within 3 years of Sir Alex's retirement could be a significant factor in seeing him surviving.
We are not a very ambitious club. I think we are generally content with where we are, and our decision making over these last few years attests to that. We talk a good game, but financially we are meeting our goals , and I generally believe that is the most important thing.
As for next season, I can see this being the first time when Woodward gets a proper wake up call about our relative attractiveness. As a world class talent, the only reason I would consider joining United is the money, and only if it is substantially better than others. City have the lure of the best manager in the world, Chelsea have London and finances, and we play dire football, do not have great players to attract other talents, and likely to have no Champions league football.
Not in this context, no. Do you mean the match going fans know we are shite because the players are shite while LVG is doing a perfectly fine job?I reckon you know what pragmatic means... no?

I appreciate the fact that it is your opinion. However I too would not want booing at this stage since, as you said, each game is basically a cup final for us now.Not particularly. Obviously I appreciate my view is limited in the sense that although I go to every home match and some aways... it's not like I talk to all 76,000 fans. The general consensus I would say amongst fans I have chatted with is that LVG is not doing a very good job and certainly more want him gone than not. Having said that, we're currently in a push for top 4 and have the FA Cup to play for so whilst not ideal, for me it's a case of get behind the team and hope for the best. Every match from now till season end is like a cup final for us.
I'd say a lot of the posts I read on the Caf tend to be on the more extreme end of the scale in terms of overall negativity. I read a lot of vitriol and everything seems a lot more 'doom and gloom'. Some of it just doesn't seem very rational or reasoned to me. Just my opinion.
I still think you are being a bit dramatic. As in, I completely understand your nervousness / paranoia about this. But I am confident the board / Woodward are well aware the fans are frustrated. Hence my confidence Van Gaal will move on (by "mutual consent" I imagine) and Mourinho will come in. We dont need to boo to make this happen, IMO, it will happen anyway. And I personally applaud the dignified resilience of our home supporters.
But as you suggested there are other ways to register discontent if you think my attitude is complacent.
Have you signed this?

However, I think that fans at the ground should have made their displeasure known earlier than now. When nothing was done or said by the board after that series of performances in December it was clear that we are heading nowhere. This has not changed one bit. The recent performance at Anfield in what was basically our chance of European glory, we served up the most uninspired performance that I recollect. All this is down to the manager and if we get to a position where top 4 is gone, I hope the match going fans then do something to ensure the board know how disillusioned the fans are lest they think the fans are behind LVG. I still cannot believe he gets clapped off despite some of the most pathetic performances on the pitch.
I wouldnt read anything into that, just means he wants to keep his promise to his wife that this would be his last job. He is eager to retire and is not going to achieve any more with Holland than he did at the last World Cup.He's reject d the Holland job. Let me just leave that here.
If we are confirmed to be out of CL places at some stage in the next 2-3 weeks, I hope the fans give him hell. He has really let everyone down with his absolute stubbornessyep. the man himself thinks the fans are behind him because those people who sit beside the dugout are giving him little pats on the back and handshakes at the end of the match. Throwing fists would be more appropriate! (I jest, I don't condone violence)
If he seriously wants to retire he might feel Dutch football might take more time to sort out than he is willing to give. He's reject d the Holland job. Let me just leave that here.
Yeah the first point is a very good one, and one that has been overlooked. If LVG stays, the atmosphere will be mutinous from the first game of next season and the fans will turn at the first sign of trouble.
That's been the case for me for a couple months now.I absolutely can't take another season of LvG football. I'm already at the point where I don't care one bit if I have to miss a match.
Spot on post.
Next season even a lot of money may not get Woodward the talent he think should be here.
If he deliberately sells DDG that is the crowd on his back, everytime a new goalkeeper lets in a goal, they will sing for DDG.I'm not so sure if any fans will turn.
For every loss, LVG will be clapped. I remember Moyes getting a standing ovation, when he took us to 6th/7th place (on the day the banner was flown).
The fans feel that if they give standing ovation to losers (Moyes) that somehow they are better people.
Next Year: LVG will continue, exactly as he has done this season.
He will aim for 1-0. If rival team scores 1 goal, we will take the draw. If the rival team scores 2 goals, we will accept the loss. 4th-5th place is what he will achieve, just as he did last season and this season.
If DDG leaves, I expect us to be in the bottom half of the table.
He succeeded in getting rid of Di Maria. He desperately tried to get DDG out, right up to the last minute, but failed (though this Summer I suspect LVG will succeed in selling our best player).
While LVG is here, our best players will do their best to leave. Last Summer was proof of this.
DAMN YOU LVG!!!

Which I am sure will be brought up by the media and the fact he got us to a League Cup semi, wasn't it and got well into the CL and he didn't spend anywhere near as much as LvG would be justifiable to a point.Which will make a mockery of sacking Moyes.
Mate. Forget next season, we tried this season, with CL football to hire Galactico class players.
Nobody wanted to come.
The 2 Galacticos we did have (ADM, DDG), both wanted to leave.
I firmly believe that with Jose players like Zlatan will come. He has the pulling power for us to get top tier players even without champions league football.
We have a chance if get the next manager right.
If its LVG or Giggs, we are up shit's creek without a paddle.

Well if you have an attitude like that yeah. Maybe he'll make another signing as good as Martial and push on.
I dont have an attitude, I just prefer to live in reality.
Reality is if he gets us top four and an FA cup it's been a relatively successful season. with the prem now who knows how we will do with or without him. Bring in Mourinho and we run the risk of being near the relegation zone at Christmas.
Moyes was only here for a few months though. Imagine if he'd had a second year.I'm not so sure if any fans will turn.

Sure thing Twigg.
Yeah you're right winning trophies and being near the top isn't successful?
I am genuinely bemused at the fact that finishing top four and an FA cup wouldn't be a successful season.
For once, I agree with you, if he gets top 4 and win the FA cup then we can be pretty happy with that, but I would still want him to go.
Striker management the most but from these two definitely the passionless, over-calculative wankery on the pitch. What annoys you lot more..
The lack of progression under LvG, or the boring style of play?
