If LVG was young with years in front of him, he would have had a much fairer chance. We will need to move on regardless. Today was very good.
You don't need to motivate players getting their first games for the club. They have nothing to lose and want to show everyone what they can do.There will be lows, but this is how he motivates young people, it is just about them that their careers are on the line and they are tied with his fate. After that, they hungry and horny will rise to the top.
Very enjoyable and credit to Van Gaal but too little, too late after 18 months of tedious, sterile football. Let's see how we get on against a less ambitious PL team than Arsenal who don't come out to attack us.
Maybe LvG hasn't motivated them properly, and it's taken the enthusiasm and the threat of kids taking their jobs that has gotten some of our senior players in gear. Then again, these are professionals getting paid millions of dollars. If you need a crazy old dude who barely speaks English to get you fired up to go play a kids game and make millions doing it, you're a thundercnut.
I'd take defeats in every match til end of season just for you to jog onfeck your mind. Hopefully the big boys at United see that LVG will make something phenomenal even if he isnt the best manager to take them to titles.
He did it at barca, bayern and now your seeing something here.
For the people who say LVG wasn't such a big deal & just gave debuts to iniesta, muller, xavi & alaba.. Just think. Is it actually just a coincidence.
The problem is, people have been saying this since january 1st. 'no credit for this, x team is awful'.1 game against Arsenal changes nothing, they are notorious bottlers at this stage of season
He had no choiceWhat ever happens now, I think many will remember LvG as the manager who gave many of our young players the chance. He is really good with the young players tbf.
It's 1 game.. Sure contract for lifeThe problem is, people have been saying this since january 1st. 'no credit for this, x team is awful'.
Mid week is was 'yes we hammered both but shrews and midy are shit, lets see how he does against arsenal' and now that we were brilliant against arsenal it's 'arsenal are shit lets see if he can win every game for the rest of the season'
I find it sad how people want to be right more than they want to see us play well
Don't waste your time trying to bring even a modicum of sense into this thread. Genuine basket cases in here.He had no choice
So you think that all along, our plan was to lose many games in December.
Then show relegation form for 3 months.
Then have many players get injured.
So that we could field a U21s team and beat Midgetland and Arsenal?
This was not some master plan...I can assure you.
We did well today, but our previous league game was a loss.
Should we sack him....absolutely. Aiming for top 4 should not be our target. We need to aim for the title and LVG isn't the manager who can win the EPL title.
What's to say LvG trimmed the squad because he had faith in the youth academy?I'd still replace him with a cardboard cutout given the chance
1 game against Arsenal changes nothing, they are notorious bottlers at this stage of season
Credit for trying kids out but he hasn't really got a choice either due to small squad & high number of injuries
Credit to Joyce, mcguiness and the other coaches
every game is one game. If we take all the games we have played better since january 1st and put them together then it is a trend. Oh but wait all those teams were 'shite' and it won't be progress until 'insert next challenge'It's 1 game.. Sure contract for life
I'll give him credit when he deserves itWhat's to say LvG trimmed the squad because he had faith in the youth academy?
Give the man some credit when it's due.

So LVG trimmed the squad intentionally because of his faith in the youngsters yet none of them could get a look in with Rooney going through probably the worst patch of his career. What's to say LvG trimmed the squad because he had faith in the youth academy?

And drop Rooney or Martial? He got his chance because of injuries - that's the whole point of this!So why didn't he give Rashford a chance when we were struggling to score?

No other poster writes so much rubbish

Yes drop Rooney. We were struggling to score and he refused to change anything.
He had no choice
He doesn't like/rate januzajHe could have played Januzaj instead. Give the guy some credit for doing something good.
You make it seem like the awful results and performances have been the exception and just blips during a good run of form. This has simply not been the case and to try and use today's result of it being indicative of anything is misrepresenting what has been an awful season for a club aspiring to challenge for the title and compete in Europe. The problem is, people have been saying this since january 1st. 'no credit for this, x team is awful'.
How exactly can you disregard that Shrewsbury and Midgetland are awful opponents that even the bottom feeders of the PL would expect to beat? You can't just ignore that us beating a League One team fighting relegation and a part time Danish team in the Europa League is in anyway impressive, beating Arsenal is a nice result but it doesn't wash away what has been an insipid season, nothing really could outside of an extraordinary finish to the season. People wanting LVG gone are looking at the big picture of where the club's standards and expectations are heading and not just basing their opinion on the last three games like so many claiming they've been 'swayed' are.Mid week is was 'yes we hammered both but shrews and midy are shit, lets see how he does against arsenal' and now that we were brilliant against arsenal it's 'arsenal are shit lets see if he can win every game for the rest of the season'
What's sad is how many United fans are willing to see the club descend to being an also ran barely for challenging for top 4 with no ambition all in the name of some bizarre loyalty to a veteran manager on his last gig who has failed in his time here.I find it sad how people want to be right more than they want to see us play well
Sure, any manager can perform with this number of kids. The last few games reflect incredibly well on the young players that have come to the fore during a period where the press have been persistently trying to undermine our academy (some of which may be fair game). They have all responded exceptionally in the face of such adversity and swept some of the senior players along with their enthusiasm and passion. LVG probably deserves some praise but more than anything the spirit and ethos of the club, and those indoctrinated within it, must surely take the biggest portion of acclaim.
He doesn't like/rate januzaj
He let Hernandez go, perhaps, as he was satisfied that the likes of Rashford could do a job should WR and AM get injured. Thats what I've said from the start. So LVG didn't trim the squad intentionally because of his faith in the youngsters? Which is the opposite of what you implied a few minutes ago.
