I still don't understand why he changed so much of the only team that genuinely looked good under LVG. That one that bossed Liverpool and City late last season.

Why can't we just have more of that but with improvements like Martial up front/on the left or Schneiderlin as the DM?

that fecking look t Giggs when Chicha missed that peno.... That's bugging me like feck now. "he can't score"........................

To be fair, a lot of supporters had enough of Hernandez around that same time. He went to Madrid and gave it the "I'm where I should be" nonsense, before crawling back here under a cloud and performing awfully.

Yeah, I'm not sure I'd have sold him without bringing in some form of replacement poacher, or at least keeping Wilson, but I wasn't sorry to see the back of him at the time either.

How times change.

He didn't help his cause today, the injuries gave him a degree of cover for the result but not playing Young and subbing off Fellaini just made an already difficult task harder.

Agree. We want this one manager one football voice paradise but we have to realise that SAF is gone and the club is different now and must adapt.

When I look at a sport like Rugby the managers have coaches for almost every phases of the game, so in theory they should be able to allocate more time for off fields activities but most clubs still have sporting directors. Only Noves who is the equivalent of a SAF used to do everything by himself.

If you take points won percentage instead of win percentage its 59% to 62%

Progress, but meagre

I have to admit, I wouldn't have dreamt of contemplating the end of LVG here until these last few weeks, but that second half was quite worrying. We looked completely lost and unsure of what to do on the pitch, and that was coming straight after the half time talk.
I'd wait to see if 2-3 first choice players coming back into the team settles things down a bit, we also looked like this when LVG first arrived at the club, and we had that horrible injury crisis at the back also. But this is certainly the worst we've looked since then, bad news.

Why has he seemingly scrapped the two holding midfielders system at a time when our defence is decimated. No decisions he makes ever make sense, goes attacking when a draw would be acceptable and defensive when I'd expect us to go all out for a win.

He can't help himself. He's a meddler.

That sums a lot of things up perfectly.

The poll has taken a big swing tonight. It might be a knee-jerk reaction for some but it is clear the fans are despondent.

It's not knee-jerk when we have been dog shit as have our results for a good while now. Tonight was my breaking point and I changed my vote in the poll to sack him now. I don't think he will be, mind but it's what absolutely should happen. Enough is enough.

the result today wasn't some isolated incident where everything went wrong for us and right for bournemouth. remember that we are currently on a 5 game winless streak and haven't scored more than 2 goals in a game since everton away. with plenty of bore 0-0s about. (2 of which cost us the league cup and a place in CL knockouts)

Off topic but we have scored 60% of our goals in 4 games, we are way worse than people think.

wow wow wow

what exactly has woodward done wrong....?

Lvg has a very good CV, how is it woodwards fault if he's failing to deliver?

this is what truly make it hard to defend LVG

He does things that makes an already hard job even harder. He makes things harder than they need to be.

he has no passion as a manager. His discussions with Giggs are the most pointless ever. I understand his need to take notes but what good is it in the last 10 minutes, show some emotion, motivate the players. He is just enjoying a well paid retirement and his expressions and actions don't convey anything to suggest he gives a $hit about us. His substitutes are almost like a random draw from the hat. Substitutions of Powell and Jones (in dying minutes) were almost like a Joke. Moyes, even with all his faults, had at leads some logic to his actions.
Great observation. He genuinely looks like he doesn't give a shit. He just sits on his ass all game, scribbling notes in that binder. The only time he gets out of his chair is during halftime and full time. Where is the passion? Where are the words of encouragement, shouting directions to the players? He's not active, very low energy. That may be his style, but it comes across very poorly when we aren't playing well. When he was hired, people rightfully pointed out that he is fiery, that he would be the antithesis to Moyes in that regard. But we haven't seen it, maybe it happens behind the scenes but even if it does, it's clearly not working. His message is not working.

Well said. As in midweek random selections and subs in vain, desperate hope that something sticks.

Today's plan was pretty simple - long ball to Fellaini and despite being ugly, it seemed to work.

So I just read his win percentage is 52%, Moyes who was the worst manager ever in the history of managers EVER had 53%

The philosophy in stats - 83 goals in 56 league games (plus 34 goal difference) 99 points

City 115 in 56 (plus 60 goal difference) 111 points

We had 31 points after 16 games last season compared to 29 this season, we also had a bigger squad. We also averaged 1.63 goals a game compared to 1.31 now.

Where is the improvement he keeps harping on about apart from our amazing carling cup run which consisted of skipping a round due to CL, scoring three goals and being knocked out by a lower league side at OT?

Basically we have just improved our possession stats which has resulted in conceding slightly less whilst boring everyone to death with lackluster, no frills monotony.

Yeah then he took him off for Powell:wenger:

Danny Kelly and Terry Gibson on Talksport. Both say that Herrera should be in every team, that he is energetic, a goal threat, can create and is aggressive. Gibson is annoyed that LvG has tried to change his game. That it doesn't matter if you lose the ball now and again, if it makes you more creative and more likely to score. Gibson says LvG is far too rigid. Also think he is ruining Mata.

Just seen this again, can't quite believe how things have turned out.

Read it if you want to be depressed....even more.

Ffs

Because LVG got lucky last season that injuries forced him into picking the team that worked...well, for three games. After a season of chopping and changing, he basically hit on something that finally worked.

Sticking with that, but just upgrading it, would have been far to easy for him though. Wouldn't have given him enough of an ego boost.

Well they're right. Everyone can see that they're right.

He can what?
He did 8 years at his peak at Milan in his most successful period, but look at the rest of his career, it's all 2 yearers.
Chelsea and Real Madrid nonsensically sacked him for finishing runner-up to Manchester United & Barcelona in his second season, despite huge success in his first seaosns. PSG he ditched because Real became available.

He said we must forget about the past in regards to our expectations. So that must mean he can't tell us to have faith in him because of what he's done at other clubs...

These sentiments sum it up for me. He has started to sound like Moyes, and tonight was the breaking point for me.

For some reason I see the Stoke boxing day game as the breaking point. I'd sack him now, but if results continue to be poor I could see the Stoke game being the last straw for the board.

You could be right, but if we don't beat Norwich at home it won't go down well either. The reaction of the crowd could be brutal.
