Pep didn't stick around at his boyhoodd club with everything set for him and lot of credit in the bank on success.

He doesn't have huge reasons to leave bayern either.

While Ancelotti has only really left 1 job at PSG of his own accord to move up.

And because El khelaifi was constantly on his back and Real Madrid were a dream of his.

They have been the form team over the whole of 2015 why should they fade away now?
Hard to argue against that really but I still believe they'll fade away. They were shit before that, they cannot keep this going on.

As I said, there might not be too much left if we wait till the summer.. Pep has managed the top team in la liga and then the defending CL winners in Bayern. What makes you think he might come to the most competitive league and take a team which is not even in top 4? City makes much more sense in that case for him. Unless there is someone out there that can take this team up short term and get top 4, I would just go with the best available option right now...

Next year, if we are not top 4, the new manager will come in a situation where any club in the league can outspend any team outside the top 2-3 in La liga and bundesliga. It just will be way too tough to attract the top talent if we are not top 4 when those players can get the same money by a top 4 PL side
Look, in my mind we first go all out for Pep. We're a giant club. The most famous in the world, and we shouldn't undersell ourselves. We can spend enormous amounts every summer and Pep will give us that edge in terms of pulling power. He's the best right now IMO and that's what we need. Also, I don't think we're all that far from winning the league. I'd be very confident of that happening if he joined, and so should he. For me, the worry is more about whether we actually try our best to get him. If we do that and fail, then we'll tough luck, but it is for me a no brainer to try and get the best manager on board.

If that then doesn't work then in the summer I'd look at the other alternatives. I like Carlo Ancelotti but I'm not totally convinced he's miles better an option than everyone else. More proven yes but I'd like to see us also review the likes of pochettino and other promising managers. Especially if he gets top 4 this season. Fact is, other managers from the younger lot will become top managers at some point so if someone like pochettino or tuchel or anyone else who isn't as big a "name" might join the top bracket soon, I'd consider them. And then make a call.

So yeah, for me, it's pep and then judge the rest of the pack with Carlo being the mode proven but others also considered.

Difficult to judge, I think Pep has been hand given two fantastic squads, I doubt he'd get our current set up playing his system well.
This on pep, he's inherited two not only great teams but also the best sides in their two respective leagues. He probably would do well walking into either arsenal or city because they don't need a whole lot of reworking. Wanting him at United to keep him from the city job though, bit mad.

Can anyone honestly say the result today would have been any different if we'd had everyone available?
No, because I would say morale is that low. He never takes the blame for anything. Maybe the players know he has made big mistakes and are sick of him throwing them under the bus.

I think he has to go if this continues much longer. I just hate that we are becoming a club with high turnover of managers.

We are not though really considering we had one manager for 27 years. Plus Louis was always short term it just now needs to be a shorter short term because we are going nowhere fast under his tactics and man management.

Hugs are overrated, give me the nice fresh smell of a managerial sacking any day.

I think you'll be disappointed if you want it Moysie-style.

I think it's more likely to be ushered out gently at the end of the season if Pep says yes.

The most shocking thing to me with LVG and his stupid fecking philosophy is that our performances are worse than last season. We were playing amazing football in that stretch where we beat Spurs, Liverpool and City.

So he's spent a shit ton of more money this summer on more reinforcements (also leaving the squad stupidly thin) and the result is a lower quality of football week in, week out. How is that even possible? It is truly bizarre.

I want Pep but with the way things are going we'll have to move for Carlo and risk city getting Pep.
I know this is why i getting so disgusted at LVG, just get your shite together until may at least.

True but the next appointment really does need to be a good one. It's crazy how long it's taking us to recover from SAF leaving.

Can't disagree with this.
What we have to be ultra careful about, is making do with Van Gaal's modest results, letting him stay the contract out, and then finding we've missed everyone going, and end up worth a 6th choice like Moyes again.

We've missed Klopp, who Woodward called a "genius", so if we're middling, and Pep is available in the summer we have to be ruthless.

Remember when Southampton sacked Adkins, everyone pooed their pants and they got Pochittino?

No one talked about Adkins a few months on whenthey were ripping it up

Just go.

He sold half the squad off for a pittance and is reaping what he's sewn. We looked good towards the end of last season in the same way that Liverpool did a couple of years ago. No European football meant we could pick the same team every week and stay rested while others were flagging. He's spent £200 million and he's delivered nothing. I was going to say we should get used to the Europa League but tbh I'm not convinced we'll even get there.

We've been good for three games of his tenure. Bournemouth will be good for three of theirs this season, maybe more. The man is a fraud, how he is still in the job baffles me. He's a coward.

Shades of the end of the Moyes era at this point I'm afraid. A complete lack of enthusiasm from the players, no fear from opposition sides, the media turning and the increasingly baffling starting lineups and substitutions week after week.

He won't be here much longer.

Ok so I think he has to go.
Getting Moyes vibes all over again and fear this will crash and burn.

The only alternative for the rest of the season is Giggs. People saying bring in Ancelotti have to realise that can't happen until the summer when we'd be better off targeting Guardiola anyway. Which leaves Giggs till the end of the season, I'm not saying Giggs is a car crash waiting to happen and Van Gaal would do better I just think we need to realise the alternative is a gamble.
How do you know this? Because he turned down Liverpool does not mean he would turn down United.

LvG can play around and sell shit to the media and our opponents as much as he likes, I'll support him. But telling us what to expect takes it too far for me.
I still remember the brilliant "We're this close" speech at the poty-awards. He had me convinced. He seemed to know what he was doing. He doesn't anymore.

Now looking at our fixtures in Jan and Feb. Do you think we'll be able to turn it around?

That doesn't mean much tbh. We played our best games last year in the difficult ones and everyone couldn't see how we will turn it around and that's just a matter of time till Liverpool will leapfrog us. Doesn't mean we will repeat it and I don't think it will happen this year either, but only because our games are tougher or look tougher on paper doesn't mean we will be worse. It seems like the "easy" ones are still a pain in the ass for us.

Could he be sacked?

I didn't had any feeling that his job could br under question until this run of result and when everything around United look so negative. TBF I wouldn't be surprised if he is sacked in near future.

No, he is safe.

He was always going to be impossible to follow but the Moyes appointment was crazy and now the van Gaal one seems to be imploding, maybe the managers we wanted were not available, Pep being the obvious according to SAFs book. At the end of the day Pep is probably the best manager right now full stop and Ancelloti is very good and proven in this league. If we can get either we must act! LVG has to go in the summer or sooner, I honestly believe Giggs would steady the ship should van Gaal go early.

Such insight from him.

I hope Woody has the guts to sack him immediately. At this stage, it doesn't matter who will replace him for this season. Clearly, the team is on free fall and won't end in top 4 with LVG on charge. The team needs a change.

If I was Woody I would have been calling Pep and if he says yes, but Giggs (or even better, SAF if he accepts) in charge till the end of the season. If not, get Ancelotti immediately.

Van Gaal is going exactly in the same direction as Moyes was going, and it is clear to see it. Every minute with him in charge is a minute lost.

How can you even justify this.
