I see injuries is the go to excuse for our resident LVG fans, really? For one, our front 4 was the one we've had most of this season, minus Rooney who most here can't stand. In midfield we were missing our utterly average duo of Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger, would they have done anything for us today? Maybe stayed deep and protect the back four but we've seen them be cut through easily this season already. Or back four was a shambles today, 3 young lads and Daley feckin Blind our most senior defender, but it was LVG who decided to rid us of Rafael and Evans, the lack of squad options is his own doing so how is it an excuse? Arsenal are also going through injury problems but they have a manager that understands the need for squad depth and can actually set up his team to get the most out of them, even through tough periods. LVG has failed in every respect and the only reason most don't want him out now is because of the lack of available successors. The delusional ones still hanging are still pointing to '3 points off top!!' and some vague bullshite about how he's 'setting us up for the future'. We're seeing utterly no progress from last season and with the way we're playing that gap to the top is only going to get bigger once City and Arsenal get their act together and soon we're battling it out with Liverpool and Spurs for top 4, ie.Last season repeated. Rubbish is the only word for it.

Now looking at our fixtures in Jan and Feb. Do you think we'll be able to turn it around?
Looking doubtful now after this recent poor run. It's beginning to look like another season of a top 4 scrap.

Progress.

None of his signings have been disasters to be fair. Woody will probably think of it as improving the team for his successor as well.

Memphis, Darmian, the German bloke have been rank average. Martial looks immensely talented and needs to be used like any 20 year old.

I just rate Pep a lot higher than Carlo. In fact, I'm not even convinced by Carlo being the nailed on second best option. I'd obviously be very happy if he was appointed but he's not someone I particularly want us to bend over for without giving pep a good shot.

As I said, there might not be too much left if we wait till the summer.. Pep has managed the top team in la liga and then the defending CL winners in Bayern. What makes you think he might come to the most competitive league and take a team which is not even in top 4? City makes much more sense in that case for him. Unless there is someone out there that can take this team up short term and get top 4, I would just go with the best available option right now...

Next year, if we are not top 4, the new manager will come in a situation where any club in the league can outspend any team outside the top 2-3 in La liga and bundesliga. It just will be way too tough to attract the top talent if we are not top 4 when those players can get the same money by a top 4 PL side

We missed chances. He failed to mention Bournemouth missed the better and more chances.
He seems to expect us to score every half chance. Well yeh if we could do that we'd thrash everyone, but no team can do that. That argument is valid for the West Ham match where atrocious finishing was the reason we didn't win (even so West Ham could argue the same). Today there are no excuses.

Pretty evident the managers facing a losing battle with both the press and the fans, we all know how that generally ends up. As for Giggs, what does he do? I loved the guy as a player but theres absolutely nothing that screams potential top class manager to me, he just doesn't have the character or show the ambition to want to be his own man but would rather be LvG's motionless sidekick.

Pointless sacking him now. It's either Ancelotti or Pep in the summer. Who do we get for 6 months?

He will be given til the end of the season and then I think it will be agreed it is best he leaves.
If he knows he will be replaced, will he give a toss about which team he picks and the tactics. Why would he care?

He's got to go.

His comments about us not winning trophies was, for me, so wide of the mark as to be laughable. I'm past the whole trophy thing now.

We have NO POSITIVE IDENTITY in terms of our playing style. We have good players, he doesn't use them properly.

The team mirror his lack of passion - how many times have we seen him on the touchline - and there is no leadership.

Right now, I don't care about trophies or fourth place. I just want to enjoy watching my team again.

When we start playing good football the confidence will grow and so will our chances of success.

I'm certain most people think he's at least 10 years older than his 56.
But Milan aside, he doesn't stick around.

Pep if he wanted to come, would probably hang about a while longer

Pep didn't stick around at his boyhoodd club with everything set for him and lot of credit in the bank on success.

He doesn't have huge reasons to leave bayern either.

While Ancelotti has only really left 1 job at PSG of his own accord to move up.

He can what?
He did 8 years at his peak at Milan in his most successful period, but look at the rest of his career, it's all 2 yearers.

Yeah I'm just going by his age but you are right. He might be more of a 3-4 year appointment but might bring some sort of success

Blimey. He doesn't look great for his age

His league record is really poor though isn't it? Can't argue with his CL pedigree though.

He had legends like Lippi and Mourinho against him.

I am sick of hearing about how close we are to the top and that should by him credit.

Let's look at this in the light of day shall we.

All the other big clubs are also having pretty poor seasons with there managers also facing the sack (apart from Arsene because Arsenal gave up on trophies years ago).

By Monday it will be Leicester fecking City who could be 6 points ahead of us, they are having a good season yes. But it says a lot more about the top clubs than anything else.

We have been completely humbled in Europe. For me this completely makes the scramble for fourth last season pointless. I don't get paid by the club so the moneyside of things doesn't bother me.

Speaking of money, we Spunked loads of that in the summer and still appear worse overall, that's some going. Chica has scored a hat trick today and 3 more goals than our team as a whole since he left us. LVG thought he wasn't worth a chance.

I'm on a role, following on players and chances... Nick Powell, a player who had seemingly been cast aside is now coming on in consecutive games, arguably in both games for our most likely scorer\creator at that moment.

Now I know we are in the midst of an injury crisis (which raises questions on the training again!) But we've spent 250m in 18 months! We have let players go without replacing them, those who have been replaced have been so with inexperienced kids who can't be expected to be world beaters overnight.

As you can tell I am done with LVG. His rigid style and reluctance to adapt stagnating us in mediocrity, and with only a 3 year stint planned I don't see the point is continuing this experiment. It's obvious whoever comes in will do things vastly different so we May's well move on that now.

Ancelloti is available and a manager I think would match the ambition and styles of the club. Otherwise give it to Giggs until the end of the season and get Pep.

Completely agree with everything you said.

The warning signs were there in August when even when we were winning games, Carrick and Rooney had to speak about the dressing room to him. I thought it was made up rumours at the time due to us winning games and starting the season off well but when he came out and confirmed it and said he was surprised to hear it, I was worried.

Getting the dressing room on your side, and the team actually wanting to play for you & enjoying their football is half the battle, and I just don't see that happening at the moment. No-one is in form really bar a few individuals and LvG has to take some of the blame for that, his man-management has been called cold by previous player and maybe it's showing.

Based on that could Giggs be any worse till the end of the season?
Yup. I don't want Giggs getting anywhere near the United job right now. Er, apart form assistant manager which is pretty near.

but he has said he won't make a mid season move, also going for ancelotti now means city might get pep, who i really think is the better manager.

iirc, he said the same thing before joining PSG, only his health might change the situation.

Changed to sack him now with a heavy heart. I like Louis and desperately wanted him to do well but I think we've reached a tipping point. I know he's had an absolute nightmare with all the injuries but that doesn't mask some of his increasingly bizarre lineups.
I'd have ancelotti over pep if all things were equal. He's available now, I'd rather give Carlo the January window than louis and I think he'd turn mood of the changing room around to a positive.
I honestly wouldn't blame Giggs if he wanted to go to Swansea at this point.

you're all over the place, I can see you're upset.

Have a virtual hug. Come back next week, it'll be better, I promise you

This. If Pep has categorically told us he'll pick a city instead then we move onto the next best thing which is Ancelotti in my opinion. But firstly Guardiola would probably never be that absolute right now and secondly Ancelotti has said he won't join a club mid season (fair enough if you don't believe him it wouldn't be the first time a manager said something similar and went against it).

but he has said he won't make a mid season move, also going for ancelotti now means city might get pep, who i really think is the better manager.

Difficult to judge, I think Pep has been hand given two fantastic squads, I doubt he'd get our current set up playing his system well.

Genuinely interested to know what the initial feelings were that you had? (Not WUMing at all)

I must say its only this season it's turned for me.

Was it just the possession style etc?
Possession style is fine if you've got the players. Just immediately worked out he wasn't the type of guy I could like, and his footballing style was not that of United I've grown old watching.

It's a steady decline.

From beating City, Pool and Spurs in style last season
To grinding out results early this season, but not in style
To hanging on to 1-0 games with boring football
To playing out 0-0 draws
To crashing out of CL, and potentially be fifth tomorrow

Where are we going next?

I want Pep but with the way things are going we'll have to move for Carlo and risk city getting Pep.

either or will do. The next manager certainly has to have the big club experience.
You don't just give some ex player it as their first job, even tho Pep was lucky enough to get that.

Let other clubs trial that!

Mark my words. Despite the shit on a stick football and his weird subs he'll probably squeeze enough points to get top 4. Surely Leicester will fade away while Chelsea has too big of a gap to catch up. That leaves Spurs and Liverpool as genuine top 4 contenders as Arsenal and City have it wrapped up anyway. I cannot see both Liverpool and Spurs taking over United in top 4.
They have been the form team over the whole of 2015 why should they fade away now?

Supported him since his appointment but tonight was the step too far. I have no issue getting beat by Bournemouth, Wolfsburg etc but the performances have been embarrassing. I'd love to hear a straight answer on what this philosophy is that he keeps banging on about, if it's spineless, unimaginative football then I guess he's achieved it.

I think he has to go if this continues much longer. I just hate that we are becoming a club with high turnover of managers.
