It's not even about entertaining any more.

Forget the fact all the values of the club have been fecked out the window. That could be excused for the first league title post-Fergie. Not only do we entertain, we never fecking win either.

Everton entertain but don't win enough, West Brom are boring but do what they need to do in the league. We are boring, and fecking way below where we want to be! We are probably the most boring team in the whole league and the most underachieving team in the whole league. How he is still in a job is such a farce it's just depression on here that has taken over from rage. A few people are even cracking up at the state of the club for keeping him on.

Says Xavi, iniesta, Barcelona players, Bayern players etc.

This isn't really based on what will happen though, it's based on what you hope will happen, based on some tenuous links from previous jobs in which he ultimately failed.

Presuming you're talking about the success his clubs had after him, it's hardly an endorsement. His Bayern side won the double in 2010, with a CL final, and soon were successful again once LVG was gone. That doesn't suggest he was instrumental in their later success; he just didn't win with what was a side that should have been winning, whereas his successors did.

LvG was lucky that the academy graduates at Barca and Bayern chimed with his philosophy. There's nobody of that ilk, or indeed quality, coming through at United.

BUMP: How dare we let this fall off the first page :nono:

For today's digestion a small difference in approaches to pressers pre-Europa league away games (as reported in today's Telegraph"):

=============

LvG:

“My personal wish is to win the FA Cup,” said Van Gaal. “I have already won the Uefa Cup and I want to win a title in England. That is why I have come to this country …"

Asked whether the Europa League offered the most realistic route for United to qualify for the Champions League, given their inconsistency, Van Gaal added: “It is not only my best route, but ours I think. However, I think it is also difficult to win [the Europa League] because there are also very good European teams in the league. We are with the last 32 teams, so we still need to win a lot of rounds."

==============

Klopp:

“What can I say, we are in the last 32. We can see the line. But I cannot say this is our only chance of being in the Champions League. It’s a chance. A few teams in the world can think about winning the Europa League and I think we are one of these teams."

"… We play Sunday and we play Thursday. That’s a good gap, enough time to recover: no problem. It’s nothing,” said Klopp. “We then play Thursday, Thursday, so no problems again. We then have a final [on the Sunday]. Before a final you don’t have to think about anything because you don’t need to be recovered. You could play the final on Friday.

===============

Immediately what jumps out as the main difference is that LvG speaks about "me" and "I" mostly, while Klopp almost always refers to "we" and "our".

But it's the defeatist negativity that simply oozes from van Gall that I could easily imagine transmits straight back to the changing room - he should be energising these young players and filling them with belief but instead he's giving them excuses and telling them that the game's all but up before they've even started. We used to crucify Moyes for this crap after all.

FFS they are about to step onto a foreign field to face FC fecking MIgitland, not Barcelona or Bayern. And that's only because of his incompetent tactics in an eminently winnable CL group stage!

shades of david moyes.

If we get a crap result against Midtablej tonight I will puke if LVG says it's because we didn't have Rooney. I can honestly see him saying it...

I get the impression he is hiding behind the injuries, so he could point to the fact he is not a complete and utter fraud of a manager!
No doubt he is. We have injuries to 10 experienced players (Despite Adnan being shipped out on loan as he weren't needed) and 3 under 21 back up players. Other teams around us have between 6-9 experienced pros out injured. However because they didn't ship out so many of their experienced squad players, they have more options. i.e. even if their under 21 back up players get injured, it don't matter so much.

"They play in a very difficult shape for us," he said. "The same as Sunderland [who beat United on Saturday in the Premier League].

"And the circumstances are also not so easy.

"I have seen the pitch. I have seen that the pitch is smaller than usual, so it is not so easy to beat Midtjylland here, and a lot of teams have seen that."

Bloody hell this guy is full of excuses. When the manager of Manchester United is complaining that beating Sunderland and the M people is not do easy then it should be the end of him.

Still how are we supposed to win on such a small pitch, how will we use our pace? :(

'It shall be snowing and raining at the same time. Many have already seen that playing in snow and rain shall not be easy. Look at Neanderthals'

"Midtjylland actually limped over the line in their Europa League group, taking only one point from their final four games. In fact, they've won only one of their last nine in all competitions." from SS. They sound pretty damn poor to me. Therefore I expect a struggle and an over-exaggeration of their difficulty and abilities.

What is he doing? He sends the players out thinking they are beaten before they even play. It is almost coming to the stage that he knows he is going and isn't even attempting to send a team out to win. He just doesn't care anymore.

Exactly

Does VG's teams entertain? No

Does VG have us competing for trophy's? No

Does VG have us competing for European places? No

He is not doing any of the basics, midtable managers outsmart VG, he gets found out in Europe, and he still is in a job

Not only are united boring, they are not even competing, and that alone is a farce in itself

The best bit is him comparing the opposition to Sunderland in order to illustrate how it will be difficult for us. Sunderland.....:lol:

I think my hatred for him has moved on to sympathy tbf as he's clearly as dissilusioned as the fans. Mind you he's getting paid handsomely for the privilege

Knowing him he will underestimate Shrewsbury and put the U-12's out.

He is basically admiting defeat with the comments he is giving now, admitting he got it all wrong, couldnt turn the ship around as the club hoped he would and has us back to the level we were when Moyes was fired.

Excuses for playing teams like Midytland and Sunderland, season as good as over in February, most boring football on the planet, no hope whatsoever to do anything about it. It is painfull, how he is still not sacked is just unbelievable.

Two completely wasted years of investing a lot of money and energy in crap foundations.

Come on guys. He's actually doing a stellar job, it's just that us mere mortals can't see it. He's not here to win trophies or to win games in general. He serves a higher purpose and in 10 years from now, we will be so grateful to this visionary that there will no doubt be an LvG statue or two outside of OT.

His first year he started his rebuild, but this season he has been destructive. Too many sales and not replacing them in the squad. He has destroyed the players confidence. You can see it from their body language. Half of them don't know what position they are playing from one week to the next. Some get dropped for the slightest thing, others are untouchable. He is devisive. Jose gets his players to run through brick walls for him (until this season of course), LvG does not get that loyalty.

10 years from now I will self-censor myself whenever I have to utter his name.

Something for people to throw things at. They could make a fortune selling eggs or tomatoes for the job.

Get those Sunday deals at the market, don't waiste good food on that senile old man. I bet Woodward is planning the statue for a manager has useless has a block of wood. We have our Nixon of old Trafford

He's playing down playing down expectations, one thing LvG is great at. Seems to be working with the board too.

LVG, February 2017 - "It is a process but we should soon aspire to be at Southampton's level, I have faith we can progress far in the Europa"

Don't you mean, at the end of this process we will have qualified for the Europa League?

This is, after all, the manager who said Manchester United is not a team that has to win every week any more (just for that Moyes level BS he should have been sacked on the spot!)

the recent news that united haven't been in contact with mourinho since december makes me confident we'll be able to secure LVG to an extension this summer.

I want him out like everyone else, but are we really expecting very much with Mourinho in charge? We were so glad when Moyes left and now we'll be very glad when (if) LVG leaves. There is a culture of failure that has very quickly taken hold of this club. I'm really not expecting much of anything, regardless of who we get.

It's the fans. The glory hunters are feeling itchy. The amount of times I have heard that success is the basis of our club. You would think we were Madrid with a club run by players.

One only needs to look at the next closest manager stat being Ancelotti.
22 more games played yet 20 more wins, less draws and only 4 more losses. More than double GF and only 15 more GA. 58 points more out of 66 available pt difference in those 22 games.

Get anyone in. Anyone will do.
