The Chelsea one is still fresh for me. Plus, it was the fact we played well and still dropped the points so agonizingly. If we play bad and lose, then we can't really regret anything about that. Dropping points when we should have taken away 3 points, at Stamford Bridge too, is painful.

I didn't watch the game on Saturday but I hear we deserved to lose.
We didn't play particularly well in that game, we forfeited large swathes of the game (single digit possession in the last 10 minutes) and paid the price for it.

Ideally get rid asap, sign mourinho let him assess the squad and hit the ground running next season and he could have a good go at the Europa League, he is capable of winning that, we will go out the minute we get any semi competitive side at the moment. If there is a reason mourinho cannot sign at the now like a contractual reason you can understand but the lack of communication from the club to the fans is terrible, we are all here watching a manager not meet his perceived objectives getting slaughtered by opposition fans and paying fortunes on tickets and merchandise and expected to be patient and understand it, nobody knows what the direction we are going.

If it's gonna happen this season, it's gonna happen tomorrow. F5 will be popular with United fans tomorrow

Refresh. Something LVG often refuses to do when we're not looking particularly great. I expect if he was a member of RedCafe he'd be perturbed that the page wasn't refreshing itself, whilst taking notes in the process.

Gone tomorrow morning. I was almost asleep and dreamt that i woke up and was surfing redcafe and weiting a post how happy i was he was gone . God let this dream be true. I ll give up posting on redcafe for a week if it meant Lvg is gone tomorrow.

This all makes too much sense. You should email Ed Woodward. I hate to say it but I am sure nobody at the club has factored in how the Euros, Copa Centenario, and Olympics will ruin a new boss's preseason preparation. Getting Mou now is the best way to make sure we begin next season from a rolling start.

The Telegraph guy on Sunday Supplement this morning was in disbelief that LvG has not been sacked yet, and was saying that ANYBODY would be better than LVG at this point. I'm finding it harder to disagree with such statements now, when back at the start of December, when the slump started, it sounded like mere over-exaggeration, and a situation you could half-heartedly blame on the injuries.

We started the season okay, but it's been relegation form since December. Chelsea and Liverpool started the season with similar form and took swift action. Chelsea imploded and Mourinho was a hindrance, the players seemingly weren't playing for him and the situation worsened by the week. Liverpool were stuttering, so they snatched up a world class manager who was unemployed and available, before he was gobbled up by someone else. Both situations have familiarities with what we're going through. Absolutely no sign of anything improving or LvG even figuring out his best team (18 months into the job!) and there's a world class manager and perennial winner currently unattached.

Action should have been taken sooner. A few weeks ago, the season was salvageable, but it was painfully obvious it wouldn't be salvaged under LvG.

I think he'll be here till it's a mathematical impossibility that we can't get top 4.

Can you clarify by what you mean as a "team first" reaction? If someone such as Mourinho comes in when the sun shines tomorrow (depending where you are!), players will be scared and have to change their tune. Every player will look at for themselves, unsure at what to expect because only Mata has worked with Mourinho and he was sold by Jose.

United are still in the FA Cup, still have to play in Europa League with 4th still (mind boggling that this is true) in sight. A new manager, assuming it's Mourinho, will probably relieve Giggs and a few others. So you're inserting an entirely new coaching staff, with zero insight. Nothing. You're coming into the environment blind.

Beginning Feb. 18, United have 4 matches in ten days, not including a potential FA Cup replay at OT. Then in March, United could have up to five matches in 18 days if they qualify for the sixth round of the FA Cup.

The coaching staff will be changed, but with everything in football and life, timing is everything.

team first - play like a team first. like you've practiced and took training together and may even like each other. no buying into the bolded part at fecking all because you're not being realistic. they already look like they are going into games without a fecking clue. The first half decent club we face like any team in the prem we're out. and 4th , get you head out mate it ain't gonna happen. LVG will do nothing to change the course of the season so why wait? the longer (too long now) the team will have more self doubt. so purging now would do little to hurt the club more. if this keeps up none of the players will have any confidence going into the next season. sorry but you are looking at it as there is a possibility he can turn it around. i'd have to say not a fecking chance.

I think you're stuck with him until the end of the season now. The chance to bring Mourinho in has been there for a while but United haven't moved on it. It's bizarre because fan pressure is there. Usually that's enough but for some reason nothing is happening.

The moment its announced that Van Gaal has been sacked, here its going to be like the end of return of the Jedi.

Are you taking the mickey?! An ending to Return of the Jedi that includes Jar Jar Binks and Hayden Christensen is almost as offensive as seeing Van Gaal in the dugout week in and week out!

See the post from @Cheesy for the proper ending.

I'm genuinely at a loss as to why he's still in charge.

Even if the previous reports were to be believed and Jose doesn't want to take over until the summer or, somehow, we still don't want Jose to take over at all, surely Giggs would be better for the rest of the season.

What a fecking trainwreck we've become.

This is just ridiculous! How has he still not been sacked yet? If LVG had any self respect he would resign himself. What a shit show it has been. He can't possible think he can bring us out of this mess. Sometimes change is necessary, sometimes change is good. Look at Chelsea and look at Liverpool after they sacked their managers. Chelsea haven't a lost a game yet under Hiddink.

Anyone think if he had been sacked after Wolfsberg we would be in the mix for the league?

Abso-fecking-lutely!! If we had hired Jose that is and not Giggs. If we had beat Norwich and Soton at home, thats six points and we could have got a point or two from the remaining games we didn't win if Jose was in charge. In my opinion, we could have had at least an extra 9 points from the last two months and that puts us right in the mix with being just a few points behind.

The position and points are abysmal. The play abysmal. The desire greatly lacking. There's absolutely no good reason to stick it out with LVG. If Woodward has had the go ahead to make a change and hasn't then he should also be axed.

Even if we had only drawn with Bournemouth, Norwich, Stoke, Southampton and Sunderland we'd only be a point behind City, if we'd won just a couple of those we'd be 3 points off the top
It's baffling isn't it? So many unnecessarily lost points...

Bournemouth, Stoke, Newcastle and Sunderland, all games we should have been winning. That's 11 points there, in addition to Norwich and Southampton which you already mentioned, which takes us to 17.

Now realistically we wouldn't have won all of them, but I don't think it's unreasonable to think that a capable manager would have brought in at least 10 to 12 points extra, if we had made the switch after Wolfsburg. Which would have, of course, mean that we would have been in with a wonderful chance of winning the whole thing.

these are the thing his defenders used as a reason to keep him. the unbeaten streak in which we played shit and got fecked off in CL. sorry but our form under him has been nothing short of shit. i look to matches prior to that and his short sighted breaking down of the squad. some players needed shifting others just needed to be played. he did it with rooney until he came around.

If it was gonna happen, it would have already happened a few times over by now

The fact he isn't sacked yet shows that he won't be sacked during the season under any circumstances in my opinion.

It'll be end of this season, or the end of next season.

For sure there has been several times when it could and should have happened but if it is actually going to happen before the end of the season, tomorrow's the last chance imo

It was up to LVG to get in the players required to mirror his philosophy, he had the time and money to do so. The fact that he couldn't do that, tells me his long term plan has been a sham from the very beginning.

There was never a philosophy. We have all been hoodwinked.
Pity Woodward has not yet seen the light.

I reckon the circumstances will be the same as Moyes. When it's not possible to make the top 4.

It's possible. But i think the Moyes sacking went so horrifically (several of Ed's briefed guys have reported Ed wants to avoid it happening again) that if we found ourselves unable to qualify for the CL with like 3/4 games to go, he'd just hold fire and do it in the Summer when the games are finished and the spotlight is on England

Seems like the sort of thing a smart businessman would do, although I'd rather they just did it now

6 points behind City, and we still have to play them. If Mourinho came in now, i'd back us to make 4th. But we'll wait until we can't before sacking him because...?

...because Ed Woodward does not want to admit that he got it wrong.
LVG is his man and he is sticking with him and MUFC be dammed.

Posting that is almost as insulting as Van Gaal still being in a job.

I still dont get it. I mean if we have decided for sure he is going to be gone in the summer, then what are we waiting for? Who cares if he can get us the top 4 anymore? If we get in Jose, he can have these extra months to assess the situation and the squad and plan early as to what he needs to do in the sumer in terms of switching our system or buying new players. Give him this two to three month head start.

Because there is no evidence he is gone in the summer, just loads of speculating and wishful thinking.
In the US before the Sunderland match they had an interview with a reporter named Ashton who indicated that LVG has already planned pre-season games in China. Not exactly the actions of someone not being here.
That may all change if we do not make CL, but at the moment the hysteria is just caused by those who have had enough.

I wouldn't mind throwing Jose in now, telling him whatever happens happens in terms of results, just evaluate and familiarise yourself with the squad, then create a plan of action for the summer. However, I also subscribe to the idea LVG will be here till it becomes impossible to make top 4 or Europa League.
