Reckon Fabio Paratici would be a quality option in terms of what United need. In just 5 seasons him and Beppe Marotta have transformed an ageing and poor quality team that finished 7th in the Serie A with likes of Grosso, Sissoko, Melo, Diego, Zebina, Amauri, Iaquinta, while also dealing with low revenues and the departure of Del Piero, Trezeguet, Camoranesi, Cannavaro. You look at some of the players he has signed relative to the transfer money Juventus paid, and it is incredible:
Stephan Lichtsteiner - £7 million.
Andrea Pirlo - £0 million.
Leonardo Bonnucci - £10 million.
Nicola Leali - £2 million.
Kingsley Coman - £0 million.
Carlos Tevez - £7 million.
Roberto Pereyra - £10 million.
Alvaro Morata - £14 million.
Andrea Barzagli - £0.25 million.
Fernando Llorente - £0 million.
Patrice Evra - £1.5 million.
Arturo Vidal - £8.5 million.
Paul Pogba - £0 million.
Not everyone is a fan of their dealings this summer but they are rebuilding after losing Vidal, Pirlo, Tevez. Maybe one or two bad deals like Coman. But overall - they reached the European final last season, won the Serie A 4 times in 5 seasons since Paratici was stolen from Sampdoria, and their spine was built for maybe ~£60 million, especially their incredible midfield of Vidal+Pirlo+Pogba which cost £8.5 million in total. We need someone who apart from signing quality players, is also an expert at finding cheap deals instead of spending £35 million on Mané or £50 million on Lukaku. Really feel someone like him would be perfect for the club. Some Juventus supporters I know even call him baby Moggi or Agnelli.
Or maybe someone like José Caminero, who also has a good relationship with Woodward's friend Jorge Mendes, and even José Mourinho. Atletico have been exceptional since he came back in 2011, and some of their transfer deals are incredible value for money.
Aside from a DOF, I think maybe it's time to add ex-footballers as a buffer. I think if Gary does not make a good manager he can be like Rummenigge at Bayern, and before him Hoeneß, with maybe someone who is honest and brash like Keane, and someone who's a bit more diplomatic like Van der Sar or Ferdinand to complete the team. A team of 3-4 ex-footballers like that can do well, presuming there won't be political factions created because of their presence, which can be a worry at times to be honest.
