Do you want LVG sacked?

Genuinely wanting to quit and offering to because you feel it's the right thing to do are very different things. I suspect the latter applies to LVG which is why it needs Woodward or whoever to just grasp the nettle once and for all. There's no happy ending here. It's just degrees of failure.

If Giggs doesn't want the interim job, Mourinho doesn't want to take over a team mid season and Guardiola "isn't available until the summer" who would we put in charge for the rest of the season?

Sack him and have no manager and no plan?

Well, it goes without saying that we wouldn't sack Van Gaal if no one wants to take the job, but I find that hard to believe, to be honest.

If Guardian's info is genuine, it seems like Woodward doesn't want to risk further destabilizing the situation by changing managers in the middle of the season, when in reality there's nothing to destabilize as we can't really get any worse.

There's also the theory of Woodward not wanting to sack two managers in two years and be associated with another failure after Moyes, but that's already the case due to his refusal to take the necessary action.

I've been a harsh critic during his tenure but he'll have regained a lot of my respect by resigning.

If we're so desperate to keep him then it shows the club have no interest or confidence in Giggs, even as an interim.

It would not have been wise to believe an article in The Sun about LvG (or any other matter) before the Fat Man™ episode, it is lunacy to believe them now.

I actually feel sorry for LVG a bit, if this is true. He's trying to go with honour and Woodward is keeping him in the firing line. Van Gaal has given him every opportunity to part ways; Van Gaal has clearly accepted he can't do anything more.

Just let the guy leave with his honour intact you tool, because things could turn ugly for him if not and I'm not convinced he's the one that should be getting the supporters wrath anymore.

LVG isn't a little fecking kid. If he knows he isn't up to it, he should just go. Stop taking advantage of Woodward's idiocy. Have some shame and walk away with your head held relatively high. He is tarnishing his own reputation for what? to please the likes of Woodward?

Have no sympathy for him. That said, Woodward deserves to be hounded out the club if these rumours are true.

This makes me happy but it also mean we are not interested in Mourinho or he is not interested in jumping into the job before the summer (doubt it).

That would be absolutely ridiculous on our part unless we have Pep in the bag.

If all of this is true then our club is in absolute shambles. It's maddening stuff.

Woodward should be the one submitting his resignation letters.

van Gaal has been around the block enough times to know when a managerial relationship has reached its natural conclusion. So if he has offered 3 times to resign, or even just once after the Soton game, then Woodward should work out a mutual agreement for him to leave pronto.

I'm certain its the end. United are being kind to Louie. They're giving him time to calm down, think things over, and let him decide if theres any belief left in his ability to turn it around. Chances are high that the club and Louie will decide its better to call it quits.
What happens then is a mystery. Giggs to take over, especially if United can hijack a Pep deal? Mourinho? Who knows

This is a farce. Transferring the running of the club from Fergie and Gill to Moyes and Woodward has turned us into a basket case in just two and a half seasons.

No one is believing the Sun, the Guardian is reporting a similar story.

Fergie in for the rest of the season to restore confidence and start planning a transition for the team for the new manager. United don't need Giggs right now, they need a giant. Something to strike fear into every other team in the competition. Manchester United need the boss

if this has been leaked and has any truth then his position as manager has been undermined anyway now, the players know he tried to quit

The close relationship between Louis and Ed might have become a problem. There's an air of "No - you hang up first" about this constant atmosphere of proffered resignations and subsequent talking-around.

"Ed. I think we need to split up. It's just not working out and I hate it here."
"Please stay honey, I can't do this on my own. What do we always say to get ourselves through the bad times?"
"itsh.. itsh a processh"

"Don't go, Louis - you know what they say about bald men." *winks*

Ive said this for weeks, LvG knows his time is up, he's even offered to resign but for whatever fecking reason the board is happy to keep going. At this point I blame nobody but Woodward.

I'm certainly not defending Woodward, but if Van Gaal has offered to resign, it may makes sense that Woodward has told him to hold steady and wait until a meeting is put in place on Tuesday. If the rumoured "talks" are taking place tomorrow. If he goes tomorrow then fair enough.

If Van Gaal is still hear on Wednesday morning more than one head needs to roll.

That's fitting, because we've been playing like Villa for ages.

I like how the % is going up every time i refresh this thread.
On "sack him now" , that is :)

Yeah, I think we'll know tomorrow if he's going or staying.

We'd have more of a shot at Champions League football with Rafa in charge. That's a fact.

Yep I still hate the man for his arrogance etc but now the blame is solely on ed.

We need the equivalent of the twitter thread for most of this shite. No named source? feck off. The guy that wrote about Mourinho's so-called letter summed it up, 'I have triple sources'. Yeah, but you can't name any of them, can you?. Feck off.

I'm not saying they are not bullshitters (99% of it is bullshit), but IF someone at a club leaks something to you as a journalist, why the hell would you say who it is? It doesn't work like that.

Id say pretty much replacing him with anyone even the tea lady would see a boost in performance from our players, he's just like a big black cloud hanging over us raining down on us while ed says well everything's ok I've got an umbrella!

I reckon that's a joke but Benitez did win the respect of the Chelsea fans after they hated him initially.

I think he'd do OK with our squad, he likes a structured team who play like machines rather than individuals.
