I'm not saying they are not bullshitters (99% of it is bullshit), but IF someone at a club leaks something to you as a journalist, why the hell would you say who it is? It doesn't work like that.

Well you did bold and capitalise the 'if'. Can't you make a few up yourself?, it's really quite easy. It was the one who said 'triple-sourced' that summed it up for me, but make your own mind up by all means.

''Have a cup of tea Louis, everything will be fine after a cuppa''

"And no, you can't keep possession of the cup without doing anything with it afterwards. The canteen are running out of cups for tea, and to be quite frank they don't care about your philosophy."

It would be the easiest thing in the world to sack Van Gaal and hire Mourinho, but despite the mob baying for blood I do admire the fact we aren't quite ready to sell our soul just yet.

However, they need to announce he's leaving at the end of the season. LVG should announce his retirement in the summer and hopefully that will placate things a little and change the toxic atmosphere at the club. I can't see how he can last otherwise.

''What do you mean when you say I have 11 mugs already? We need to fight with each other, and we will be successful''

Wait.. He offered to leave and talked him into staying on?

Is there no one out there who could do a better job till the end of the season. It really isnt asking for much.

It really can't get much better for City fans eh?! Beware, the only direction we can go now is sideways.

It may well be that Woody is begging van Gaal to stay in the Hope he somewhow turns this around because if he does not Woody's head will also roll.

When the dust has settled, many heads will have rolled and United will be a very different club in more ways than people may think.

Woodward is an even bigger joker to be honest. We've gone from Gill and Fergie to some banker boy hiring chumps in such quick time. Was always the fear when Fergie left. Everyone thinking we would learn from the years in the wilderness post-Busby.

For me the complete mismangament of the purchase and sale of Di Maria was jaw dropping. Just step back and think about this.

For me that in itself showed the incompetency of both van Gaal and Woody.

Have I missed something since the Soton loss? Van Gaal's now 1/3 to get the sack?! Why's losing to Southampton considered worse than not winning in 9 (was it) games over Christmas? Should've got rid in December.

van Gaal was poorly vetted. We have done good jobs with players before. Or at least Fergie did.

The more you step back and think about all this you begin to see what Ferguson brought to this club.....and how as walks away, he himself unknowingly is tearing things down.

Perhaps I'm being too reflective. He himself perhaps did not realise what he had brought to the club and that when he leaves the throne, it will crumble.

Seriously? How bad should things get before LVG is let go.... Or do we have to stick with him despite all the evidence that points otherwise because it is not "the United way"

If Woody did not accept his resignation then Woody must go also. Woody is only interested in protecting Woody.

Manner of the loss and reaction from the strettie is the main reason.

SAF picked moyes in spite of much better coaches being available and the board approved it. Also it is the same board that allowed him and gill to retire at the same time and they should be under review.

Our upper level management stinks and they all seem not to know alot about football. If our club was run properly most of this shit did not have to happen.

Woodward is a accountant /investment banker, who thought it as a great idea for him to oversee the day to day running of a football club?

We are seeing the results of the culmination of poor decisions all down the line. This is what happens when the football club ceases and becomes a business. The business is successful, the club is dying.

My fear us that by the time they realize what is going on, it would be too late. We can look at Liverpool as an example of how a once great football club can become a mediocre joke.

That time is already here mate.

I have not yet ruled out a smash and grab fourth place finish.

We're 5 points off 45th place with 15 matches left. If we stick it out with LVG we may even drop below Europa League qualification. If we bring in Jose Tuesday I'd feel pretty good about our chances of landing that fourth spot.

main problem is even if those claims are spot on and Van Gaal wanted to walk and was talked into staying by Woodward. Which is a sackable offense in any well managed club. Woodward will still be around Man United for a long time. The Glazers won't sack their money making, sponsorship sponge yes man.

So sadly his camp will win every time there's a power struggle within United.

I was referring more to the bit about winning the league or CL. We're already years away from that reality sadly. Although I think we can get back the league title sooner rather than later. Maybe two years with the right manager. That won't be LVG and it sure as hell won't be Giggs. Can you imagine Giggs getting the job and winning the league with Pep at City, maybe Simeone at Chelsea and even Wenger at Arsenal? I can't.

I'm going to attempt to be quite hopeful and positive about all this...

If Pep Guardiola is given a promise on the money to spend on his players and the control he wants, then he would be crazy to choose Manchester City over Manchester United; location, Kudos and C.V wise, it's a no brainer.

In addition, Manchester United would be crazy not to have offered Pep everything he wants, and a big fat contract to boot. It's a fantastic statement of ambition for the club and helps attract the world's best players too; the crisis the club is in now only accentuates those two overdue issues.

With the huge influx of money coming into the premier league from next season the Glazers can afford it, and given the state-of-play, probably can't afford not to! Pep taking over at Old Trafford in the Summer is a win-win for both parties.

The club have all this in hand, and that's why Ed Woodwood has wanted Louis van Gaal to stay for the rest of the season and fight for 4th place or above. We're at the stage now when it's a matter of whether the Board thinks Ryan Giggs has the better chance of achieving that goal.

Yes, if it's not José Mourinho by the end of the week, then it's Pep Guardiola next season for sure.

I feel if this is the case, then something needs to be said to appease the fans. A statement from LvG and the club saying that LvG has decided to step down at the end of the season, and after this has been released we can then inform who our new manager will be.

You really believe this don't you ?

Pep will not be managing United full stop. It is unthinkable for a man like Guardiola to set himself against the 2 men he counts as his best friends in football and to whom he feels a huge debt of gratitude
That's before you get onto the fact that United do not have the structure in place for Pep. Pep is a first team coach, not a manager in the English sense. Where is the DoF, Academy Director, Director of Scouting at United ?

No, Pep will not be managing United.

Well, you never know:D

 Selling our soul by bringing in one of the best managers of all time? What a load of shit. It's that sort of arrogance that has led us into this mess with us acting as if we're inherently better than the other clubs.

It isn't about whether LVG deserves to be sacked or not, it's about who replaces him. If we panic and get this wrong we just compound the error like we did after Moyes. Just because the vast majority of fans have had enough and are now at the point of "feck it, Mourinho" doesn't mean it's the right thing to do for this football club. Our last two managers seem to have been decided by default because no one else was available, and now is the time the club keeps its head and waits for the summer when more candidates are attainable and a calm, rational choice can be made with the best long term interests in mind. We compounded the Moyes error with LVG and if we get it wrong again then feck knows where we'll be in two years. It'll be a lot worse than fifth though, I know that much.

And is anyone else getting sick of this "united way" as a criticism thing? The club has a fantastic history and I'm proud of it. Why fans continually use it to mock the club and former players I have no idea. The ironic thing is LVG is about as far away from the 'United way' in style as you can get, for some idiotic reason we decided to abandon that because we felt Moyes was mini-Ferguson and failed. Whilst we're off chasing Muller and Bale, Tottenham signed Delle Ali, when we were being played by Ramos, Chelsea were laying the groundwork for Stones. That's the profile of player we should be signing, we're big and rich enough to go out and sign the best young players in world football and build a team, so how about we go and do that instead of trying and failing to repeat the galactico shite.

A clear, coherent strategy on what we as a club are now about is far more important than sorting out the next manager. How the feck can we hire the right manager when we don't have a clue what we actually want from them besides results. We're in a total mess and that mess doesn't get cleaned up just by sacking LVG.

Yeah, just like Barcelona when they turned him down citing exactly that. I bet they really regret it. And that was back when he actually was special.

He spent his entire first year convincing everyone his Chelsea side weren't good enough to win the title despite the fact that with ten games to go and an easy run-in they were five points clear. They bottled it. The second half of the second season the rot set in, culminating in a dire champions league defeat to 10 man PSG. And this season he left the champions in a relegation battle, a civil suit and half the squad despising him (just like at Madrid). Add his terminal decline to the anti-football, him selling two of the best players in the league who would walk into the current side (all about the long term is Jose) and the fact he's a narcissistical sociopath who appears to have been going through something of a breakdown he sounds absolutely perfect. Let's get him in. Where do we sign that 6 year deal?

Sounds like LVG has packed it in before Christmas even. If this is the 3rd time he's asked to get out of his contract then it's a bloody disgrace that we're trying to keep him on til the Summer.

He's lost faith in himself, how are the players and fans supposed to back him? If the club are just trying to save a few million by spitting in the faces of the fans, the lot of them can go to f*ck.

We're a joke club compared to those we should be competing with.

De telegraf reporting he's back today and having a meeting to discuss his future. Sky and the The Daily star (lol) also running with it, think this could be it lads. I hope he resigns and maintains his dignity and saves us a few quid.

I think the egg is finally starting to crack.

Have they not been right about a lot of other LVG related things.

I know it isn't anything new just perhaps a better source.

They were first to report he got the United job. On the whole though, they are normally pretty bad as far as i'm aware. Regardless, they are a hell of a lot better than our press.

Hopefully Ed spoke to more than just Rooney...

"Woodward spoke to Rooney yesterday...." to congratulate him on the birth of his son. (probably)
