The club offered more than 100m for Muller, the club didn't spent because they didn't managed to not because they didn't wanted.
If those players and club either don't want to sign or sell to us it won't get easier. If we get anyone in the future that you would class as a big name I would be extremely worried why their club wanted to sell.

Ah come on that's bollocks, we were never ever going to get him anyone could see that, anyway why not have a reasonable back up option in place (and Martial wasn't it), or divert some of that cash down to the youth system.

I've a feeling he'll be gone this week, I don't think he'll get another game

Look I'm not talking about what the club should or shouldn't do, what we know is that the club spent a lot and prosposed a lot of money. Just answer this question, do you think that the club was going to sell Di Maria no matter what?

I ask this question because the net spending is heavily influenced by that transfer and we both know that the club would have bought a big player without selling Di Maria.

I just can't see where we go from here unless we get Jose in straight away which would be great tbh. Always wanted him here its written in the stars, lvg has to go even if we get giggs in charge with some of the old boys helping coach then its better than this awful shit.

I know that, but the club cannot pick and choose when to try and offer the former just because there isn't an Adidas type deal on the horizon.

And they don't pick and choose, that's why people are telling you that it's bullshit. The hard truth is that we are failing, nothing else.

You are , no one else, they invested heavily when we missed out on CL after years of complacency, that you cannot deny, last season we invested £28 million (net), and reduced the wage bill, yes we threw around bids for unobtainable players, but so what.

I agree that we are failing yet nothing seems to be been done to rectify it, no January 'panic buy', no change of manager, I only ask why?

I'd say your feeling is right. The people claiming that just because we sacked Moyes when it was mathematically impossible for us to qualify for the CL, doesn't mean we'll do it this time. Moyes was on a 6 year contact, LVG has one year left.

FFS. Trying to lip read off a man with Fergie's accent is like asking a blind man to read braille off a teenagers back!

That's why you need a Scotch to do it for you. He's saying "gies a swatch o' yer missus's gash or I'll feckin burst ye and shove this phone right up yer clackerbag, ye cheeky wee shite".

Obviously they reduced the wage bill, it was the biggest in the world and they were making bids for huge players, it would be idiotic to not get rid of underperforming big wages.
As for the under investment under SAF, the team was settled and I suspect that it was SAF who was reluctant to spend and some players chose different clubs, for example Hazard, Benzema, Alexis Sanchez, Lucas Moura. The Glazers also backed SAF for an old RVP, Berbatov, Hargreaves or Anderson.

I don't get all the blaming Woody and the 'money men' for not sacking LVG. Giving a manager time is straight out of the Ferguson and Charlton philosophy for the club and it has long been said that Charlton is the one that completely objects to the appointment of Mourinho.
It's drastic, but I'd bring in a younger football man into the board.

Someone that may be willing to speak up, and isnt a Sir Alex ally.

I'd bring in Roy Keane.

Bring Mourinho in now, let him have the last week of this transfer window (don't do anything stupid, but give him a shot) and go with it. LVG has had his 18 months of shite and it won't get better this season or next.

Just getting the players in a better environment alone could be enough to at least salvage a top 4 out of this year.

I think with LvG he's lost the players - nobody is displaying any passion or fight in the side - I think every single team we face whilst under his management is capable of beating us (Derby, Villa, etc)

We can't score let alone win at home, if we do start scoring our defence falls to pieces - there is no balance, no pace, no threat - we're just sinking into a sea of shit

Wondering if the compensation due to lvg reduces drastically if he lasts this season

We're still paying him a salary for being shit. We owe him 18 months of salary now, and 12 months at the end of the season. Not much of a difference.

Rubbish. Any excuse to bang on about finances again
It isn't rubbish. They care only about the business. It'll take more than anyone thinks for the money making machine to falter. There's so much money from TV, sponsorships which run for years and years........it's fecking hopeless now. The Glazers are the biggest problem in my opinion. Van Gaal and Woodward are mere symptoms.

Despite our playing style, the only thing he actually seems to be good at keeping possession of is his job.

Yes but for entirely the wrong reasons, harping on about the Glazers backing Fergie etc is just a bit tiresome now, if it wasn't for Fergie's genius then things could have played out very different, the irony is that now we have navigated our way out of the danger zone with the Glazer's takeover, and should be finally reaping the benefits of their 'sponsorship heavy' business model, we are reduced to this, anyway that's all a bit dull, and not really worth discussing anymore.

The main point was Andy Green's tweet saying the Glazer's value the 'bottom line' above everything, and if the football is dire during a period where they won't suffer a finance hit then so be it, LvG amazingly can still get us into the top 4, and whilst that's the case he'll stay, it stinks, but that seems to be how we want play it.

Haven't looked at the sports news since the result, the club need to wake up. How has he made it past 11pm!

Its the fans who fire the manager, the owners/board are only the messanger. This rule apply to every sports team in the world except for Manchester United.

MOTD tonight:

Reporter: are you disapointed, alarmed, concerned about how few opportunities your team fashioned today, I think just 1 shot on target in 90 mins?
LVG: (Some sort of mumbling/groaning). Yes, that is disappointing, but that is also how your opponent has been organised and that was very compact with 5 defenders and it is always more difficult, and that you know in advance...

So if you know it in advance, then how come???

yup. The top 3 teams in the league all around the world meets teams like that almost weekly. AND break them down. So it's not an excuse ffs,lvg

LVGenius right there. We know that Southampton will come with a 5-man defence so we fight fire with fire and field one of our own.

Take that, Ronald. Oh... you did, and won.
