So this is the best we get to see? 18 months and we're either absolutely boring as feck or we're quite simply fecking awful? Honestly, just sack the clown.

We are just on an interminable downward trajectory at this club. Unless we get a top manager in to arrest the decline, we are going to lose our foothold at the top of the game within 3-4 years.

This performance was entertaining primarily as much for the rampant ineptitude as it was the attacking intent.

But he has been harping on about a lack of balance since he started with us two summers back. Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin are supposed to be helping out in that department but why are to me and the we still so uselessly open if we try to attack?

oh don't i know it. it was his opening remark. moyes' was i need 5=6 world class players. neither did anything about the problems they saw. LVG's points v the swaws and barcodes mean feckall and the "win" v the blades well feck me and all that was absolute shit. undefeated in 2016 and look like a fractured side.

I dont blame him for today we were unlucky. We need to start winning though another season without a top 4 finish would kill us.

The concern for me is that he will see this as a result that could have been avoided if we played the usual 'LvG ball' and will revert to type sooner rather than later. It's been a vicious bloody cycle since the Norwich game.

So he's at fault for Smalling having a shocker and Lingard missing a sitter to win the game!!!!!

It's fine to have an agenda against him, very valid reasons exist but tonight's faults do not lie with him.

We are 8 points clear of Chelsea who play tomorrow, win that and they are 5 behind. I'm starting to think we'll finish below them at this rate despite how bad they've been this season.

Two absolute sitters and defensive brainfarts. Must be Van Gaal's fault, he's coached misses and shit defending into them. Or something.

He honestly can't believe he is still in a job. What does he actual have to do to get the boot? Set Old Trafford on fire?

I don't know how anyone can be happy with what is going on. He has had money and time and we are firmly mid table.

Because we didn't have any other fit centre mids?

I must have made up that bit of the match where he took Herrera off and brought Mata on, whilst Pereira and Weir sat on the bench and Fellaini stayed on the pitch.

Game was almost exactly like the Wolfsburg away, we try to play with a bit of risk and we completely collapse in the middle and at the back. And don't even start with 'we missed a load of sitters', Newcastle dominated for about 10 or 15 after the equalizer and could have easily taken the lead if not for De Gea, a more competent attack (ie almost the entire rest of the league) would have punished us far more severely in a game like that. The bottom line remains, we look utterly clueless as a unit and don't play as a team. No one game is going to change that and I'd imagine the vast majority of those that want him gone aren't going to be swayed by a few good periods here and there, the point of no return is long gone for me and I can only hope the board stop pissing away another season just so they don't have to sack another failed manager.

of FFS , it's not a one off. he's not the guy. this is united under LVG. did you even watch the FA cup match. he's a shit manager and we look like a fecking b side. he's done nothing to keep his fecking job. he played wiggy , why?

I actually feel bad for him tonight. Yes he made the decision to keep Fellaini for the whole match when we all know he's just rubbish but the finishing from Lindgard and Marouane robbed us of three points. You can see he's starting to crack completely.

They had a couple of sitters too, as well as another penalty not given... They'll be just as annoyed with a point in hindsight.

Although if you only count our chances and not theirs we were very unlucky.

Not his fault that we missed those chances, but our terrible form continues. 1 win in 8 league games is abysmal.

We're 11 ahead of Chelsea I thought?

Shit. Thought it was more than that.

I know we were lacking balance once again, but this one time I'm letting him off. Smalling was having a shocker and was mainly responsible for us conceding three times, while Lingard and Fellaini missed sitters on the other hand. Nothing he could do about that.

He's letting low quality players run the show and probably still isn't convinced we should spend in January. Two matches and two styles against Newcastle in deep crisis during the season and still no positive result while it's his 2nd year here.

He just doesn't get it how to deal with Premier League.

They are all more attack minded than Fellaini. Surely you don't need that spelling out for you, while we were having enough trouble defensively through the middle as it was.

Bottom 3 team pulls us back from being two down, so yeah I think you have to look at the manager why our defence goes to pot if we attack?

Just because people missed sitters, doesn't take away from how open we was. Agreed we was better in attack (much better), but we was woeful in defensive midfield and defence. And keeping Fellaini on after all his wrongs this game was bonkers. Maybe if he had subbed him someone else would have slotted that cross in?
