What I don't get is how some fans on here think it's ok to dance to a tune for Pep (and his unveil, his 'news', his 'making his mind up' etc) as if we have to court him. But when it comes to Jose Mourinho, it'd be classed as arrogance or 'a circus'.

Pep reminds me of Eden Hazard with his self importance and keeping everyone on edge etc...!

Unfortunately, I think it's more a case of keeping quiet so as not to undermine Pellegrini.

They are both arrogant. But Jose gets painted as some sort of evil person. I actually like Jose's directness.

Pep walked out on his own accord with a good relationship from both jobs he has taken. Jose on the other hand has kicked, clawed and screamed while getting kicked out by the same club twice. That's the difference.

Sir Alex Ferguson would act as an advisor for Ryan Giggs were he to take over from Louis van Gaal as manager of Manchester United, a respected journalist has claimed.

SAF looked deep in thought when the camera panned to him yesterday.

a lot may be going on behind the scenes. Except we are not privy to it. I don't think the Glazers are all that happy with what has happened. But van Gaal seems the least stressed out person. That IS worrying. He may be thinking. How badly must I do before they fire me. I absolutely think Fergie will he back in the frame one way or another. Also the board has been errily silent to all the press speculation. And since have said nothing either.

The key is this. There are an awful lot of angry Manchester United supporters all over the world. They better address their concerns soon with what they are planning to do.

Does anyone at OT really care? As to LVG's demeanour, he orchestrated this. His behaviour before the media is pure pantomime, I wouldn't worry about his appearance. In two post match interviews he's raised and dropped resignation, and then raised Europa. Let's see the antics and the buzzword for Saturday evening. This is a game by game scenario as dramatic as a morality play

Giggs with SAF advising is a terrible, terrible idea. I'd rather we stuck with van Gaal.

Yes. It is. Hopefully it isn't even considered, and as far as I know it's just a rumour. But - yes - it is a terrible, terrible idea, as you rightly say.

Did you not see him after the Stoke abortion of a performance?

I'm not buying this confidence trick about the players still believing in him. He just wants to justify his defiance to our wishes that he would resign.

He's slowly morphing into Moyes. It's a sign!

Why would it be so terrible?

Having the most successful manager in English Football advising Giggs is a bad thing, how so?

I'd actually say that Rooney is one of two that is visibly giving everything each game for the manager. The other being Young. Rooney was looking up for it against Stoke, he's just not that good anymore.
Agreed, Rooney has significantly improved in effort over last 2 games. Even had a shot on target from outside the box.
I still believe the poor performances of the previous 6 games were down to LVG sticking with a small squad. The number of injuries to the backline and midfield screwed us up. Last night the returning players made quite a difference but were obviously not match fit, so tired about the 60 minute mark.
I am quite confident things will improve now we are returning to the early season team, with the addition of Herrera.

Some people are dead against Giggs for some reason, but lets face reality, how could he be any worse than what we have now?

Come on. Surely you can see the parallels. It has post-Busby written all over it so clearly it's not even funny.

The new elephant in the room seems to be Mr Giggs. Everywhere and nowhere. Many sees him as the new Messiah but knowbody knows what he's capable of. First he's a perfect replacement with his knowledge of the club and experience as a player and assistant manager. Then out of the blue he needs help, and suddenly the Godfather himself shows up and will guide him to glory.

The dramaturgy of this story is getting better and better and still absolutely knowbody has any substantial clue about his knowledge as a coach or management skills.

Why just waiting for a ex legend, start wishing for Jesuz himself. According to a book a read he was great with his peoeple and could create miracle out of nothing. And btw some sources claims he's a virgin, that should count in his faviour ;-)

I honestly fear it could be. Remember back to the minute Moyes was gone, Rio and the other leaders in the dressing room were straight away saying "Great, Giggsy will give us our chips back". They saw him as one of the lads and to me it sounds like he may lack authority, can you imagine him dropping Rooney, a player he played alongside for so long?

I think this is the ideal scenario for Giggs, Looks like the season is a write off anyway. If Giggs is given a chance and he gets us playing well, he can get it permanetly.

If not get someone else in the summer. The team needs some sort of change and a little shakeup.

Its been a long time since Giggs played and he is already part of the management. If anything, I could imagine him getting the best out of Rooney. A player does not become crap overnight, I blame the system LVG plays for making Rooney crap.

I guess we are sticking with LVG. I'm incredulous. I will always support MU, but we are firmly a mid table club now. The sooner we all accept that the better off we will be on game days. Top 10 FTW!

Rooney has become crap overnight? Rooney has been crap for awhile now and is part of the cancer rotting us.

when you see other teams with their attackers making runs behind and being inside the box to take their chances it gives you more and more reasons to hate Van Gaal's brand football even more.

When the lesser teams play against us now it seems like they have the best CB pairing in the world. My God we made Bassong looks world-class. But hey he's the way forwards according to Woodword.

The new Andy Mitten article is worth a read.... I feel he has managed to firmly put the 'non match day goers' in their place with his ever sharp writing mastery in this one.

Noticed this. Maybe reading into it too much but he always seems a casual watcher now texting on his phone etc but yesterday he seemed very engrossed as he used to when he was managing us. Wonder what was on his mind.

He had the look of a man thinking about solutions.
