Best comment ever. Confidence all started going to shit when media, some fans and ex players kept putting the pressure on. I knew it would feck our season. WAs so obvious. At the end of the day we needed to get results one way or another - never mind how boring - because were still trying to get back to where we were - this was the most important thing - not exciting football - we could have waited for that or binned LVG at the end of the season provided that we were still getting results. Instead we've created a mess in the middle of the season.
It serves us right what comes next. In the meantime, LVG needs to resign and leave the madhouse behind. I can't bear the circus anymore.
Right. You saw all this coming. Give me a break. Have you ever considered that other people are just as smart as you and they have their own pair of eyes which saw that the ugly wins earlier in the season masked some serious deficiencies in LVG's squad size, selection and substitution decisions. I am sure you can come up with some weird and histrionic reason for playing ultra cautious football at home versus effing PSV or sending on Nick effing Powell when we are chasing for CL survivial. Just because you think winning in an ugly manner is sufficient and is befitting of a club with the history and stature of United, doesn't mean other people should accept the same or should not voice their dissatisfaction with a style and brand of football which is completely out of sync with what they're used to.
What you shouldn't be surprised by is the fact that when other teams started figuring out how to beat this brand of excruciatingly conservative football the results started going against us.
We can get into a long and difficult debate on whether the club should adjust to the manager or vice versa. But I won't because people like you like to be condescending and only become scathing after the fact and say "I told you so". The fact is, we hold ourselves out to be one of the biggest club in the world with an established pedigree and style of football. If that's really the case, then why should we not expect the club to be run like a Barcelona or Bayern Munich. Or we should follow blindly a man who says we should not even yearn for the days of yore and readjust our expectations after we gave him 250m in transfer fees alone to play with.
