If you roll the clock back to not even a month ago after the Leicester game there was no pressure on LVG or even hints of it so this has all happened quite suddenly and I doubt Woodward and the board has been giving much thought to who could replace him midseason, it's probably not been on their radar till the past week.
Well it should have been, personally I thought we should have got shut at the end of last season.

Is anyone still blind to our players contribution to this as well? You know, the ones on the pitch who sort of have a major role to play in Football?

Because its pathetic. Don't like van Gaal, fine, but they play for United. That should be more than enough motivation.

I was as bad as any when Moyes was here. I wanted him gone (love how his time is revised to suggest he was passionate.... Haha haha hahaha) but in the end I wanted the players held accountable. Thankfully the culprit's were by and large, binned because like now, they were an embarrassment.

Van Gaals made mistakes. On and off the pitch. No doubt about that but the players have been a disgrace in the past few games. These players will still be here after van Gaal, playing like amateurs with hangovers. Name a manager who will fix that? There's one and he's retired.
The players have been disgraceful, so has van Gaal, I wont disagree with that. But I dont think it's solely a lack of effort, it's also a lack of tactics, quality, chemistry.

Both the club and LvG's representatives will claim "left by mutual consent".

Dignity in words only.

Probably, but the club need to tell him
he's done. Then they can discuss semantics and his pay off etc.

Even though I agree that the players have been shocking, it's easier to sack 1 manager than 11 players. Players are clearly not motivated under LVG, and just don't enjoy his style. We need a change.

I would question the attitudes. Van gaal has failed. That is obvious now. Its not unsalvageable but were talking about an unheard of turn around now. I can't see it as he tried this week and that was served up.

Time for him to retire but the players need to take a good long look at themselves. Especially those considered seniors. Do they want to be at the club? Do they care? Will they down tools if the next man asks them to do something or calls them in for an extra training session? These are now my concerns going forward.

It hasn't been all of a sudden. The football has been shit for ages. Everyone who sits around me at OT has been fecking sick of it for almost a year now.
Yeah but I mean from the boards perspective. I doubt they have cared about the quality of football. People are wondering why Van Gaal still hasn't gone and I think it's because they've literally never even considered it or who could replace him until about 2 weeks ago.

It is and that's what will happen. Long gone are the days where the manager outlasts the players. Player power rules.

They better start getting concerned, because if the crowds start dropping and the income drops on matchdays it will create a real problem. How much to they make from hospitality, megastore, catering, programmes etc?

Just noticed the league table, if we do lose to Chelsea and results go against us we will drop to into bottom Half of the table

That's got to be his last game surely......

Probably, but the club need to tell him

If he doesn't get the push tomorrow, then why sack him after the Chelsea game? Surely, a plan ought to in place if he's going to be given the boot ie Giggs as caretaker manager till the vacancy is filled? The Stoke game is a game too far for me, I just don't understand how the board could've imagined anything other than a Stoke win. So, I think if he doesn't get the boot tomorrow, he'll hang on for a few more weeks at least. Sunday bloody Sunday. Then again it could be another Manic Monday if Chelsea beat us.

What I'm saying is that I just don't know anything nor do I know why I'm rambling.

Well, that is the most serious demonstration the OT crowd can do, but I don't expect it against Chelsea who have their own problems. After that though I would expect some sort of protest since even some of the away fans were singing Jose's name, even if it wasn't overly serious, but they are the most stalwart of todays manchester united fans without doubt.

It's easy to say all that - and to an extent it's true. If players don't make the effort then that's not acceptable.

But the fact is, its much more complex that that. If the regime is so bad, so restrictive and so unpleasant to work with you will eventually get no more than minimum effort from players. If he doesn't listen to them, if they hate his style of play and generally don't enjoy going to work then it will always tell eventually.

The reality is if a manager comes in and engaged with the players then I suspect things will look a lot better.

We are all delirious. It's getting to everyone.

There are to many bad business people on the United board. Good business now is to let LvG go and some of the bad players asap.

I think things are going on behind the scenes. I suspect Guardiola is first choice and they're trying to get him to reject City. If not, they'll appoint Jose.

Goodness knows what's happening along the corridors of power at United, but I bet they are slightly panicking. It was bad under Moyes, but it's getting even more serious now. They will feel that signing Jose is knee-jerk and probably not something they want to do but at the same time the investment, coorporate power of United is seriously being jeopardised and Woody certainly knows all about that. They were never going to say anything after the game, but I suspect that heavy meetings will be held tomorrow.

You'd think that if we were planning to sack him, we'd have done it today. Giving Giggs less than a day to manage the players himself would be foolish, given it's against Chelsea too.

Van Gaal will be about for Chelsea.

When the crowd properly turns he will go. Not only some boos at the end. It has to be shown to him that he is no longer wanted.
As to why we are still sticking with him. Our board is probably full of incompetent twats that can't decide who to replace him with. I guess there is as much discussion about Mourinho as here is.

Might be a bit of a controversial opinion - but with less than 48 hours to go before the Chelsea game, wouldn't sacking LVG at this stage basically be like not even turning up for the game?

At this stage the games are coming so thick and fast there's no suitable 'gap' where we can sort out our managerial situation :(

Where's a fecking international break when you need one?! FFS.

What'll probably happen is we give him the Chelsea game, we win that then he resigns after the game*

*After dropping his pants in the press conference.

We probably have better chance of winning vs Chelski under a caretaker at this point tbh then a seeming lame duck.

Exactly, cant see why people think he would be sacked over night before a huge game. Everything so up in the air is an excuse for another defeat

Our board should help out the cleaning crew at Old Trafford. Doing that, they would actually be a real resource.

Could easily be in 10th place after the next round of fixtures. It has to end before we forfeit anymore games

Steve McManaman wants LVG to stay on BT Sport, and claims he still hasn't been given enough time to 'put things right'. "Give him another transfer window," he says.

Why am I not surprised?
