when I wake up tomorrow I expect to see news of van gaal leaving united.
I think you'll be disappointed. If he were to be sacked before the Chelsea match we'd have done so tonight I think. I doubt we'll do it on the off day tomorrow.

I find the fact he's still in the job unbelievable. Which leads me to believe the club haven't got a clue what they want to do, surely this is a sign Mourinho isn't wanted by our board.

I suspect your mate may feel different of he had a multi-million pound contract that would be paid up if he was sacked.

I'd be surprised if he resigned given the money it'll cost him. The club need to act if they want him gone.
Both the club and LvG's representatives will claim "left by mutual consent".

Dignity in words only.

Just saw a stat that we've the lowest amount of points in our PL history after 18 games.

That is depressing.

Without wishing to sound like some sort of Moyes apologist, in 13-14 it was 79 points to reach top four but this season I doubt it'll be more more 70. With Chelsea's shocking form, Liverpool without Suarez and the league in general not a strong as a couple of years ago it should be a given that we're in the Champions League spots with the amount of money spent.

After an awful 2 weeks, the response from the team was the same as ever, he's lost the dressing room and he isn't capable of bringing this back.

Just out of interest... what makes you think Jose would be any different in this respect?
I take your point, its not an ideal or long term solution but its the only one I can see us making with who is available that will turn our season around in the short term.

Our board seems inept. I feel as if the weight of our clubs traditions and expectations are causing people to make bad decisions. I just hope someone learns from these mistakes and we actually move forward into the modern age of the game.

honestly it's an "optimistic" prediction more than anything. I will probably wake up tomorrow to see that nothing has changed.

It's quite irritating. He should've been seen off within a couple of hours of the game, be it by his own accord or the clubs.

Perhaps the board feel he can still turn it around. I just don't see the point of sacking him after the Chelsea game, unless we hammer them and everyone jumps on the LVG wagon once again.

LVG

“I can quit by myself but that is something I speak about with Ed Woodward by himself,” the United manager said. “I will speak with him first and then with my staff. I need to have a conversation but I do not need to tell you what I want to say. I am not so interested in public talking.”

Sounds like he's one more step to leaving.

Or that he preferred not to take the job ahead of the Chelsea game....

Despite most fans seeming to think it's definitely happening, they seem to be overlooking that there would have to be a massive change from half the board who were against him first time round!

I reckon the club have been caught out by this sudden sh!t run of form and didn't think there was any contingency plan needed.

Half a season would be too long for a Giggs caretaker role. He was a bit pushed for 4 games the last time.

At least it's pretty obvious Pep will have arranged a deal.
We'll either know it's us, or not! There can't be any doubt!

Try UnitedinRed

Is anyone still blind to our players contribution to this as well? You know, the ones on the pitch who sort of have a major role to play in Football?

Because its pathetic. Don't like van Gaal, fine, but they play for United. That should be more than enough motivation.

I was as bad as any when Moyes was here. I wanted him gone (love how his time is revised to suggest he was passionate.... Haha haha hahaha) but in the end I wanted the players held accountable. Thankfully the culprit's were by and large, binned because like now, they were an embarrassment.

Van Gaals made mistakes. On and off the pitch. No doubt about that but the players have been a disgrace in the past few games. These players will still be here after van Gaal, playing like amateurs with hangovers. Name a manager who will fix that? There's one and he's retired.

Or that he doesn't want it it all!

Why wouldn't he? Unless he's got an offer from Real and he's stupid enough to go back there, I really don't see anything too enticing for him on the horizon. He did Real, he's not getting Barca, Germany isn't much of a challenge and he's done Italy.

If the reports about the ultimatum to Van Gaal are correct, he should be sacked before the Chelsea game. They were from solid sources as well and is the only sane course of action.

I would agree with this. They seem to be dithering.

If we were stupid enough to dismiss him, he would have a job tomorrow at any of the other major clubs where all his experience and contacts would help them generate loads of money. Woodward is not the problem and I want him to stay.
Yep. His commercial expertise would undoubtedly attract a host of suitors across Europe.

Woodward is still not at fault. The time is coming, but he's a decent man that gives one of the last 20's best managar a change to go out in another way. I admire that quality, although, he's had time enough now.

If you roll the clock back to not even a month ago after the Leicester game there was no pressure on LVG or even hints of it so this has all happened quite suddenly and I doubt Woodward and the board has been giving much thought to who could replace him midseason, it's probably not been on their radar till the past week.

The way the league is going, we can still compete for the title, if we can get someone in before too late, (which should have really been 2/3 weeks back)...

It hasn't been all of a sudden. The football has been shit for ages. Everyone who sits around me at OT has been fecking sick of it for almost a year now.
