Would a draw against Chelsea be enough to save LvG?

2 out of 15 points for December? Sure, why not. Looking forward after Chelsea though, I could see us with W D L D L L W L in the run of league games through February. How long would LVG last then?
The Glazers are in the money business and if we continue to lose position in the table and risk not qualifying for some form of European football they will tell sack him.

It's unusually quiet tonight, I think that's a sign something is happening.
Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Thought every journalist would be all over this but they're all quiet about it. Somebody else suggested that it might be that they've got wind of something big happening and the club have told them to sit tight. The media were definitely briefed earlier on in the week.

Yeah, I think the silence after the game from the media has been pretty deafening.

There has to be something going on behind the scenes.

I think the same, they've been told something is happening and to stop being fecking twats with their rumours.

Guarantee you one member of his staff will keep his job.

Giggs?
Why? He will get a nice payoff and ride off into the Portuguese sunset.

I don't care about LVG. He will get his nice payout like you said.

It's all the staff under him. I am assuming they all get some form of payout as well but not everyone's ready to retire, they have to find a new job, relocate their families etc. But that's the life of football I guess.

It just feels like forever ago now that I was in the pub having just watched us soundly bash City at the back end of last season with a giant grin on my face feeling like everything was just starting to fall into place. The difference between then and now :(

I'm gutted for Van Gaal, and I do like him, but I hope it's time for everyone to move on now because it just isn't working. Even my dad was too young to remember the last time United lost four competitive games on the bounce.

You saw that, did you?
Man United are an embarrassment - Louis van Gaal should be ashamed of the job he has done by Andy Dunn.

I haven't read, or even seen that article...but that headline is absolutely spot on. Not sure how anyone could argue with it.

The media are going after him because...

A) He's doing a shite job
B) He treats them like shit so they're getting their own back

Its just another situation where he only has himself to blame.

He'll be here until we're mathematically finished for top 4 hopes. That is genuinely how incompetent this club is.

That'd be really dumb, even for our own standards, when everyone and their dog knows by now that van gaal looks shot and is out of ideas.

Yeah it only works if you prove them wrong!

I'm hearing silence. Not even fake ITKs on twitter saying he's going to leave or anything. So odd.

Yeah usually there'd be loads of tweets but nothing, somethings afoot

We did exactly the same for Moyes. No reason to believe anything's going to change here.
There was a reason why we did with Moyes that though. If we didn't do that, we would have need to pay his entire wage for 5 years, but by doing so, we payed only for one year.

In LVG's case it is paying for 18 months instead of paying for 12 months. There is no economical factor on not sacking him now but sacking him after a few months. If he doesn't get sacked in the next week, I think he'll be here for the entire contract. Which would be the worst thing that can happen to us.

it's a different situation.

at least with moyes we didn't really look like crumbling down completely until around march when we were out of all competitions and were just spanked at home vs liverpool and city. at that point it didn't really matter if we sacked moyes earlier or not, us being mathematically out of the top 4 gave us the justification the board needed to scrap the "long term" plan and sack moyes.

plus moyes was sacked in his first season against the long term contract we had with him, while van gaal is now at second year with only 18 months remaining, and we just seemed to regress heavily with 0 signs of improving under him.

but against all this if we wait again until we are mathematically out of the top 4 to make the decision to sack LVG, while losing mourinho in the progress, would be flat out embarrassing.

The fact that we gave him a 6 year deal shows how completely stupid we are. A contract which was based on him achieving something he'd only ever done once in his entire fecking career

I hate for us to be the kind of club that sacks managers every 18 months - it's the kind of inconsistency and short termism I've always found so laughable about our rivals but (and there had to be a but) this is a truly shocking run. It's not even the current run of games - it's the overall form since that decent run back in March/April. Other people have quoted the stats and they are so damning.

We're not even looking at the likes of City any more, instead we're checking to see what we need to do to overtake the likes of Palace, Spurs and Everton. Considering the time and money invested it's nowhere near good enough.

Ultimately I think that LvG is the kind of guy who is so passive in his demeanour/approach that he thinks that morale is a self-generating by-product of the perfectly planned process. When the process itself fails, you're left with a group of fragile people who desperately need motivation from a man who just doesn't have the ability to inspire or motivate. In that respect he's the anti-Fergie.

So yeah. As painful as it is to acknowledge that this has all been just another false dawn he's got to go.

Hopefully tomorrow is the day we get the announcement. There is a general feeling of it coming.

Its will be sad to see him go. I will miss his press conferences and end of season speeches. It is such a shame its not really working out because he is a great character and really does seem to love the club and the fans.

But at the end of the day, we are playing shite football, getting knocked out of a shit CL group and looking like we wont even make top four so he has got to go.

If he's still manager against Chelsea we are really screwed and the board are clueless!

Im starting to think that no manager could do anything with this squad.. I feel sorry for LVG to have to use so many useless players.

We should fine all players after the game today. MAYBE then they would wake up and try to play for the club.

I think he will manage the Chelsea match for the simple fact that the club was caught "unprepared" without a plan to deal with this worst case scenario, and unwilling to react. The timing of the collapse, coinciding with the Christmas holiday and extra fixtures with few days off has kept Van Gaal in the job a little longer. The board were slow to acknowledge the early signs of eroding support for the manager from the fans and players, and now that it's obvious to everyone, including the manager himself, we are not in a position to take decisive action. This is not an excuse - it's a failing in their responsibility. The flames rise higher while they watch.

If anything it'll be the morning but with the games coming thick and fast I think he'll still be in a job for the Chelsea game, but gone by new year.

Half of which he signed!

His continued employment by us beyond tomorrow could only be described as gross negligence by our board.

He either signed, or promoted, half of those bloody players!

If the squad is a mess then he takes sole responsibility for it. He's had carte blance to build whatever squad he wants.
