should be a new poll with following scenarios.

1. van Gaal sacked. Giggs leads team out v Stoke. Mourinho takes over v Chelsea.
2. van Gaal sacked. Giggs appointed until season end.
3. van Gaal's future to be decided end of season based on where we end up.
4. van Gaal sacked. Giggs will take the next two matches.Maurinho appointed in New Year and Giggs leaves when he comes in.

:boring::boring:

Play the most coma educing football the PL has ever seen?

It's crazy, isn't it? I'm sure some of these fans are bigger supporters of the manager than the club itself.

What disrespect?
Read through the thread man, I'm not saying everyone who is against the idea is being disrespectful (I myself don't like the idea) but the way some objections are coming across are as if we about to hire Steven Gerrard or something

A managerial committee of Giggs, Beckham, Neville x 2, Scholes, and Butt would have a nice nostalgic feel about it. Mike Phelan with the cones too.

Being charismatic isn't done via switch, Giggs is about as lifeless as it gets, and LvG's problems don't stem from his personality, they stem from his rigid, unrelentingly obsessive system. This top 4 is a dogfight, you don't bring a barely house trained puppy to it, we need a hardened bulldog if we are going to avoid falling out of the top 4 again.
People used to think Gary Neville was boring. We have no idea what Giggs is like. Reports from the dressing room all state he has an aura around and commands instant respect. That already gives him a headstart on Moyes. The fact he's run LvG's defensive training ground routines but also experienced Fergie's attacking ones gives him a leg up on van Gaal too (at least at Manchester United).

I have to say, I totally understand the worry about the possibility of Giggsy getting the top job, but some of the disrespect for a club legend on here is borderline criminal.

Eh no. We're a football club, not a cult. We can criticise ideas and that's all it is. We're criticising the ludicrous idea of a managerial nobody being appointed to the (arguably) hardest job in football.

Of the lot, Butt has more experience managing a Utd team along the lines of Pep at Barca...no one ever mentions him

Hope weve signed a new sponsorship deal with Job Centre or something.

Maybe Woodward is singing a deal with a Java Caffeine maker to provide free drinks on matchday to keep us awake after he decided to stick with Van Gaal.

Most just thought Nev was a dick, not boring, but it's obvious listening to him talk that he knows his stuff and has passion, Giggs looks half asleep as he gives his interviews. Sitting in the background watching other managers work means nothing, he has no experience actually being in charge and needs to go somewhere to get that, if we appoint him that's another finish outside the top 4 in the bag, we need a real, proven manager at such a pivotal time, not a green rookie who is only even in the running because he played for us.

A proven PL failure on his most recent showing. Giggs know van Gaal's methods inside and out after all this time. He'll maintain the defensive organisation (the stuff Henry talked about in the midfield and defensive thirds) but add a bit of freedom in the final third. He'd also build for the future.

Mourinho'd leave us with another huge rebuilding project in 3 years time, just like he did at Inter. Short term gratification isn't always the way to go. We need to build on what's already here and ensure that we're not undermining our own long term stability. Giggs is the best option.

How can you say that Giggs is the best option when he has managed 4 games in his life? It's utterly ridiculous to appoint someone with zero experience at a club like United in our current position where we evidently need a rebuilding. Someone will probably mention Pep at Barcelona soon but that was completely different kettle altogether.

I dread having Giggs as a manager because I've already witnessed how much people want 'romance' and 'United way' under Moyes where a lot of people wanted to keep him after that tragedy of a season. It'd be similar under Giggs albeit ten times worse and he would be able to get away with anything. Finished 9th? Not his fault, he's a legend.

Mourinho wants his next job to be longer than 3 years by the looks of it. He himself said that he wants to settle in England and manage one club longer. He has experience and record, he's a proven winner and 15 games of this season will not change that. If we go for United way instead we'll basically set ourselves even further back a few years. Enough of it.

Philosophy still working at youth level. We're winning possession stats.

Academy working well.

I wonder if Barca fans said the same when Pep was appointed manager? How wrong they were proved.

Completely different scenario. Barca had a good team in place and wanted to employ their own philosophy that's deeply rooted from the youth teams to the first team. They took a manager who managed their B team with lots of success, they were the best side in Segunda under Pep and Barca B were basically what they wanted their first team to be in terms of style except with less qualify.

Aside from that Pep was cleary an exception rather than a rule.

We're not in a position to try out experiments steeped in romanticism anyway. Unlike, say Bayern Munich, Barcelona or Madrid who could get away with it given the squads they have, as well as resources relative to their domestic competition. We're 5th in our leaguea and playing terribly dull football.

Do you trust LvG or Giggs who's a novice as the manager? My point is if we sack van Gaal then at least bring in someone who is a better manager (Mourinho) not a total unknown. Hiring Giggs to take over now is not a risk I'm willing to take. I don't care how happy the players would be, we need a proven manager who can get results while this season is still salvageable.
I agree Giggs would be a huge gamble.

This is definitely one thing in Mourinho's favour. Sadly for him he wasn't able to do that at Chelsea and self-imploded, but he has repeatedly said that he wants to manage at one club for a long period, probably inspired by Sir Alex's feats.

Regardless of whether the club sack him today or not, aside from a 4 game streak last season, we have never convinced. And consequently, I am relatively confident that it is only a matter of short order before the club dismiss him and hire a replacement.
