I doubt Mourinho would want Giggs lurking behind him when he's trying to do his job.

And you doubt Giggsy would want another 2-3 years or so playing second fiddle.

Best bet is he does a G Nev and finds a decent team to have a proper crack.

If he's good, he can come back in future. If he's not, then he didn't deserve to waltz in at the top

this seems the likelihood.

but maybe Mourinho can be talked around, as it'd seem a bit of a waste having Giggs in the mixer under 2 managers for "continuity", and then straight out now.

But then anything lower than assistant manager would be a step down. And most often when a manager fails you don't want the team that failed round him!

A lot of points to this
I think he has to go. Every manager can't be told that he has to have Giggs as Assistant Manager. It has to stop somewhere. He needs to go and manage now.

Twice. Giggs has been part of two management teams that have failed.

If they all get sacked, why shouldn't he?

If the idea is to promote from within, why Giggs? Why not one of the other backroom staff?

This obsession with Giggs is bordering on cult like.
It really is. The guy was a part of the Moyes and LVG failures and people think he should get a promotion for it

think Round was assistant under Moyes and Giggs down lower, but now he's been assistant, there's nowhere to go without an obvious downgrade ifMourinho comes

If were sacking him, then so be it.

If he comes out with the job, I will hate that the club hasnt released a statement yet to end the speculation.

Exactly!

He's already got one promotion out it, while everyone else got sacked, another would just be insane.

What we need to do is make sure we don't fall out of the top 4, you don't do that by hiring a clueless, charisma free inexperienced snake who has lurked over the last two managers reigns. He needs the boot along with LvG and we need someone that knows about managing at the top, not someone who knows nothing about actually being in charge.
This reminds me of the bullshit around LvG's press conferences in his first few months. Half the Caf was getting moist over them as they meant anything at all. Nobody here has any idea what Giggs is like in the dressing room. Man management is totally different from media management.

Plus I think Mourinho would genuinely see us as his last stop barring possibly managing Portugal at the World Cup in his twilight years. Best bet all round if we know we can't get Pep is to part ways with LvG and Giggs and give this a shot.

I'm not overjoyed at all but the more time we waste with LvG is just letting things slip further away, and appointing Giggs would be complete suicide in such a competitive season.

No we don't. We get into good areas quite often, but our end product is woeful.
Ultimate vilification of LVG then. Sold all our strikers, sent one of our best prospects on loan. Went into most games with a 19year old as our CF, and continued with a player who's clearly past his best

remember when Arsenal were mocked for this very thing?
And they had more threat than we do!

Arsenal weren't mocked for that; they were mocked for never addressing the absence of leaders on the pitch. They were always a soft touch.

May be we are waiting for the FA youth cup game to be over?. (Takes straws, clutches at them vigorously)

If Giggs has been part of any pre-match teamtalks we now know why they have been playing like they are comatose.

Being charismatic isn't done via switch, Giggs is about as lifeless as it gets, and LvG's problems don't stem from his personality, they stem from his rigid, unrelentingly obsessive system. This top 4 is a dogfight, you don't bring a barely house trained puppy to it, we need a hardened bulldog if we are going to avoid falling out of the top 4 again.

In both cases it's been a failure of man management. Individuals behind the scenes will be telling the board how Giggs' reputation has fared over that time.

And it's not like he make made any final decisions. The last two times we appointed from outside the club, the manager failed.

I have to say, I totally understand the worry about the possibility of Giggsy getting the top job, but some of the disrespect for a club legend on here is borderline criminal.

Because LvG has told them to stand still and hold their positions on the pitch. MNF illustrated it nicely on SKY yesterday. There's only so much an individual who isn't allowed to make final decisions can do.

That other thread had a fair bit, but I can't see any disrespect here? Certainly nothing borderline criminal?
