If there was nothing happening the club would issue a statement how the rumours are nonsense and we're fully behind Van Gaal.

Most of the top class clubs rarely issue statements backing a manager. They generally display a stony silence while pandemonium ensues elsewhere. They tend to see themselves as above getting involved in and reacting to tabloid sensationalism.

The Sun are going one step further in fabricating their bullshit - apparently Mou has already begun analysing our games this season in detail so he can hit the ground running.

He also sees Wesley Sneijder as the ideal January signing to come in and make a difference.

Has he only gotten as far as 2012 in his video analysis?

At what point during this week if he is not sacked do we accept that he will not be sacked for at least another week? Wednesday morning UK time?
I'm pretty sure he won't be sacked but today'd be day if he was to be. Wednesday'd be a bit too late.

There'll be a meltdown but reckon Mourinho (if he is to be next manager) would rather spend time with his dad/family over next few days, and I'd rather van Gaal be in charge for next two games than Giggs.

Don't think so. Briefing the papers (like was done with the two games thing yesterday) is what we do last few years. Chelsea issued a statement in October as they were fifth from bottom.

I think LVG is gone but Mourinho don't want to take over until after the Chelsea game.

Last thing he wants is to go there and lose, especially when he doesn't have enough time to make any genuine change yet.

Hence LVG is effectively the caretaker until then.

It doesn't have the feeling of a mans last day today, the papers would be full of it if he was off. If Fergie leaving leaks, you can be pretty damn certain LvG going would too.

He carved the turkey yesterday? Inreckon the club are letting him finish his bubble and squeak this morning then he'll be told to do one about 11ish.

Van Gaal has been in similar situations before. The reason I am not convinced sacking him just yet is the right idea is because he has turned dire situations around too often in his career for the possibility to be excluded in our case. He's a brave man, and I hope the players give everything for him against Stoke. Not wanting us to do well because Mourinho is available is just stupid. What if we beat Stoke 3.0 with 70% possession and 10 shots on target? We need a big performance to inject enthusiasm back into the club.

Please, please, please happen.

Once?

Pretty sure he's atleast going to be given the chance against Stoke and if successful against Chelsea, 6 points from those two fixtures and there's a good chance he'll be here until and unless we mathematically drop out of top 4 race.

Apparently Woody and the Glazers credit him a lot for the developments behind the scenes in terms of modernizing the sports science and other such things at the club so they feel like they owe him a couple more games with a less injured squad to get things right.

By the way if Pep is leaving Bayern because he is disappointed with the medical staff, imagine the horror of him managing us with our yearly defensive injury calamity around Christmas break.

*Posting gif of Pep clapping towards his doctor*

Only Jose fights with medical staff I thought.

I'd be more concerned when a club doctor of 30 years who has most likely been through 20 manager quits because of Pep. Rather than the Eva situation.

I think his shiny bald head would explode before he had chance to quit.

Feck this. Just going round in circles. I'm leaving the caf until I see something legit myself on twitter.

Or until the Chelsea game.

do you know what is the most amazing about this "saga"? I've been paying close attention to the poll results since Saturday. After the Norwich game there were 27 people who wanted to him extend his contract. Now we have 31. Who in their right mind would want him to stay beyond his 3 year spell here? !!!

Rival fans and "real" United supporters.

Look at the date of the poll. Then look at the wording of the option. Then look at who has actually voted for it. Should give you some idea. The first poster who went for that option was Spoony (I know, because I was the second one).

People who actually think he's “great” and that we should extend his contract are more likely to have voted in the other poll, where the relevant option isn't an obvious invitation to take the piss.

I think the % gap between the 1st option and 2nd option has increased in last week or so

It seems like he'll get the Stoke game at this point, but when he loses that then what? We have one day to sack him between that and the Chelsea game, so its likely to be Giggs in charge for that.

Well according to BBC, Guardiola knows his next club. Ergo since LVG is still in the job, it is relatively safe to assume that he won't be coming to United.

Although you could say the exact same thing about City since Pellegrini is there...

So yeah, my post is pretty much pointless.

I can't believe he hasn't been sacked yet. We're run like idiots, so fecking passive.

why sack him without knowing the replacement ?

Being too aggressive can be equally as dangerous as being too passive. We're mid season remember.
