If there was nothing happening the club would issue a statement how the rumours are nonsense and we're fully behind Van Gaal.

Most of the top class clubs rarely issue statements backing a manager. They generally display a stony silence while pandemonium ensues elsewhere. They tend to see themselves as above getting involved in and reacting to tabloid sensationalism.

After the Norwich game there were 27 people who wanted to him extend his contract. Now we have 31. Who in their right mind would want him to stay beyond his 3 year spell here? !!!

Look at the date of the poll. Then look at the wording of the option. Then look at who has actually voted for it. Should give you some idea. The first poster who went for that option was Spoony (I know, because I was the second one).
People who actually think he's “great” and that we should extend his contract are more likely to have voted in the other poll, where the relevant option isn't an obvious invitation to take the piss.
