If we draw with stoke 0-0, and beat Chelsea 2-1 then what?

'sorry for ever doubting you Louis here's another £50 million to spend in January' ?

Surely we're not that basic in our thinking?

I think he will get sacked. The rumours of mourinho are getting a bit stronger.

I only wish it wasn't mourinho but it's either him or Giggs now I assume

soon the caf will have to start hating the managers they were all drolling over.....Klopp and Pep...

Klopp was never a favorite of mine. He had some great seasons and could well be a good manager.

Pep is a great manager, but he have never been at a club who are not the best in the country. He did manage to get out of a bad period last year and that tells me that his the real deal.

Mourinho has been my favorite after SAF. For me, without SAF in the running, he is the best manager in the world. Chelsea are toxic. He would have been great again if given time. I would love to have him. Crossing fingers :)

I wanted Morinho the moment we found out Fergie was leaving. Heck he simply is the best manager on earth atm. The fact he is available when the wheels are coming off the van Gaal philosophy, makes me feel we have turned a big corner. The blip of Moyes and van Gaal will be behind us soon.

I really hope we grab him while we can. We cant stick with a manager that has rarely to never ever excited me in a match. I had high hopes for LvG, but even from the start, it was boring as feck.

Genuinely surprised to not see LVG officially fired this morning. It is still possible that he has already been told that he is, or very soon will be, and that the club is waiting to hire the new appointment and have one conference. Not sure. I hope our club starts to make some good decisions about our future. At this point I feel as if our "club standards and expectations" are working against us. The longer we stay off the top the more likely we are to become Liverpool.

think the club has been very deliberate this time around after the news leaks with Moyes.

on the bigger picture, it was never going to be easy replacing the greatest football manager of all time. In the greater scheme of things Moyes and van Gaal will merely be a blip in our history.

I feel sure it will be Mourinho and Giggs after him.

whatever some of us feel about their personalities, I feel this will be good for the club.

.

The Giggs part certainly won't, be hey let's just get Jose in first and hope Giggs fecks off.

Nah that was well reported the day before.

People just didn't want to believe it so were calling it bullshit.

it'd had broken In all the papers and media before hand!

The official website was literally the last place the news broke.

sorry what I meant was the official statement came through on the website first when it was officially confirmed.

Yes there was loads of rumours from the previous night

True enough. It's a highly unpredictable business and impossible to put a structure in place which guarantees anything. But ever since Fergie retired we seem to have just carried on with the same basic set-up: A manager in charge who is supposed to run the shop - and Woody in that role of his.

I think he, Woody, needs someone in a more active and permanent role on the footballing side - besides the manager. Gill never needed that, because he had Fergie. But we won't get another Fergie, that's a pipe dream at best.

I wouldn't be opposed at all to what you suggest - a more hands-on board of football people (directors, board members) to interact with both Woody and the manager. A director of football is another - obvious - possibility. At any rate, something should be done. We need a rethink, a new structure in one way or the other.

Let the money men do their job - give Woody some proper help with the football side. I don't see the Glazers as being positively opposed to this, actually. But the initiative has to come from somewhere. I have no idea how Woody regards matters: If he were to suggest a restructuring to the Glazers, they'd probably go along with it. But is he likely to do that?

Agree with you. I think the days of the manager-dictator like Fergie or even the 'special one' are over. Abramovich has set football on a stupid path, IMO, by sucking up to player power. Players were bad enough but now they have become untouchable and are deeply insufferable.

A possible solution: the German trade union system places a rep on the board of businesses and it has pretty much worked since 1945, ensuring less hostility between management and workers. Football will probably need the same kind of solution. I don't want to see player agents getting anymore power or making interventions when a player can play or not. With a football board operating in cohesion with the players, backroom and manager, in theory the potential for personality clashes will be much reduced. The cost of course will be more clockwork and mathematical football and less of the cavalier.

Looking back since 1992 the owners, players and managers have done a pretty piss poor job at running football. The money is causing crazy oscillations, the entertainment value is waning at best, the media are out of control, and fans are increasingly finding cheaper and better value alternatives. Being a fan since the 1960s recent events have finally tested my patience.

well obviously the official confirmation comes from the club

Sick to death of this attitude on here. Virtually nobody wants him as manager inc me but this attitude to a man who played 900 times for us is appalling.

Yep, why would we want a legendary player who loves United hanging around!

Because he's now been part of two unsuccessful management teams that have both failed miserably?

If they all get the sack, why shouldn't he?

Because he has no influence on anything so why should he be sacked, sounds like a perfect replacement for lvg, some people use this argument lmao!

He's either part of the team that's responsible for results etc or he's just sitting there doing jack sh1t, whichever one it is doesn't sound like a great candidate for a manager.

Maybe the new man will want him there

Just like I am sure LVG wanted him there too. This idea he was forced on him is probably BS

When Jose 1st joined Chelsea Steve Clarke was one of his assistants for example. I think they like to have that link between staff and players

Some looney in the Newbs reckons his mate is youth coach at Porto, and said coach claims that José has told him he's off to United. Why can't we in the Mains have made-up ITK rubbish of such quality? Pull your fingers out...or gouge your eyes out or something. Chop chop.
