Luke Shaw out for an extended period with injury

I thought Fernandez was quite good in preseason when he played. Forest would be a good opportunity to see if he's ready.

When it rains it pours. I've already lost any interest or hope of a good season.

I swear people are exaggerating. Dalot will do just fine, maybe even better than current Shaw, who hasn't been in form for a long time anyway.

It's just a reflection of how shit our fitness is despite the preseason. More of a proof our preseason was awful. We were outrun and looked unfit in our 2 opening games the started losing players due to muscular injuries, Mount then Shaw.

We didn't prepare well for this season at all.

Massive loss since he’s the best cover for Martinez as well. This season is already looking like a write-off.

Go figure. I cannot understand how the large amount of data on sports science and diet that exist out there can make players even more fragile nowadays.

Probably every player was playing with minor injuries before. Now they are advised not to play to preserve longevity.

Great question! Probably playing football. They’re professional footballers. I think you’ll find they play football together quite a lot. It’s their job, you see.
Great reply. They were injured while not playing professional football you see. So, reasonable to question if they were injured while out doing something together.

Most probably tackled each other in training or coincidentally just got injured at the same time but reasonable to question nonetheless.

His injury record is pretty crap, isn’t it? I guess it’s to be expected with that leg break. An injury that bad can permanently change biodynamics. Still though. It’s a big problem for the team.
Carries too much weight too. Same reason Reece James is constantly injured.

I know it's not ideal to break up a partnership that has been solid for us, but I think ETH might be tempted to use Lisandro on the left. He was already swapping and adopting that position with Shaw against Wolves when the full backs were being inverted, and I can see him being tempted into using someone like Lisandro who would be much more comfortable operating in midfield.

This is why Dalot is retained. We're down to the bare bones, however, and the quality in our first xi has just taken a nosedive.

This season's aspirations have changed emphatically in such a short period of time. It's damage limitation over the next five games. Already.

Surely losing Shaw is no problem as with Mount since we are such a well run club with good squad depth....oh nevermind

I was really looking forward to this season and thought we'd finally take a step towards contention but alas another horror show of a year.

Just a disappointment every where you look, from the ownership situation, off the field issues, on the field issues, injuries, fecking hell.

I'm starting to think is it time to let Shaw go? He is a really good player in spells but recurring injuries and loss of form makes me think maybe it could be time soon

Wan Bissaka - Varane - Martinez - Dalot

Not great but not a disaster.

Bruno is next on the list, clearly knackered and also played the Winter World Cup.

Watch this space within 2-3 weeks

Shaw injured is bad news for him but it’s an opportunity for ETH to try the young lad there till Malacia gets back. He looked half decent during preseason, hopefully his loan move is cancelled.

What a joke. I can't believe how fast my faith in this season being good is being destroyed.

I guess Fernandez isn't leaving then.

Did someone put bad JuJu on us :(

How do you get rid of juju?

Gently mist saltwater on your baseboards or carpet. Or, if you don't have curious toddlers or mischievous pets, place a few cups of coarse sea salt in central spaces to help absorb any bad juju in your home. “Be sure to remove them 24 hours later and throw them away outside,” Calamia says. “Any longer than that and negative energy starts seeping back in.”

This clubs ability to have so many injuries is insane. Why can't we keep our players fit? No real surprise its Shaw next to be injured though, hardly been the best at staying fit over the years.

This season is already exhausting me.

Haven’t you seen all the other teams having long injury lists as well?
Arsenal have Timber and Jesus injured
Villa have Coutinho, Mings, Buendia and Ramsey injured
Chelsea have Mudryk, Reece James, Fofana, Chukwuemeka, Nkunku and Badiashile out
City have KdB and Stones out.

Almost every PL team already has players out due to muscle injuries
