Luke Shaw nearer to Manchester United exit [The Times]

Sooner he goes the better,

It amazes me that people still want him in our lineup!, We've had 3 managers since this guy joined and none of them wanted him in our first team.

Clearly, he doesn't work hard in training and doesn't want it much as we think.

I think as well he has anxiety problems. Don't think he can handle the pressure of playing for us.

Has stolen a living at this club.

That's pretty much it, although he did break his leg for our club, so he should be given props for that. He earned his money during those months, while he could not walk.
For me, he is the worst signing in recent history. I can't think of a worse signing off the top my head, than him.
Di Maria comes close, but he was played out of opposition, in a system which did not suit him at all. Furthermore, he sucked for only 1 season. Shaw has sucked for about 2.5 seasons.

Dont care about the selling price at all. I care about who replaces him!

Same here. Though at this time, I honestly think that we won't replace him.
I think the owners simply don't want to spend money and Jose's hands are tied.
Time will tell, if I am wrong or right.

Did Italy make any subs... The commentary team on livescore put in a cryptic message like this and I was shocked

28'
Italy end the game with ten man because Leonardo Bonucci has had to leave the pitch and Italy have no subs left

Even if he went to City/Madrid/Barca/Juve/Chelsea and became a left-back superstar - it doesn't matter. It really doesn't (or at least it shouldn't) mean that United are to blame. Could be luck, could be a new/fresh break that spurs him on - it doesn't have to be that United are holding him back in some way.

I just honestly can't say that he's ever impressed me bar one or two matches and they've usually been against poor/low difficulty opposition.

He seems someone like Walcott. Just interested to keep football as a job.

Club should just let him go in Jan. Pointless keeping him.

If the manager thought it was pointless having him remain at the the club, then he'd be gone. Unless you've been talking to Jose and know better, there must obviously be a point in keeping him. Now he's back in the squad and making the bench, there seems to be a lot of people who seem to think Jose hates him and wants him gone. A case of 2 + 2 = 5.
If he's fit again and can regain form, he's by far our best option for left back by a long way.

Walcott is somewhat decent at football. He keeps himself in good shape and is available to play (mostly).
Shaw....not so much.

At what point will you accept that the guy is not fit to play football at a big club?

Has any player come back to prove himself after 3.5 seasons of complete failure? I don't think so.
Let it go man....it's not going to work out.

All he's doing is making the bench. Jose said himself that Shaw needs a run of games and he can't afford to give Shaw that, so let him go on loan/sell him and get that run of games he needs.

Cant believe there are people still thinking this guy has a chance at Utd. He had absolutely zero chance. Rojo, Blind, Young and probably even Darmian are all ahead of him. What a waste of time, money and effort this fat milky bar kid proved to be

He should be sent out on loan, if not he should be sold. What is the point of having a young player stuck on the bench or in the reserves? He needs to play regulary for at least a couple of months and that will not happen this season at OT.

Phil Jones...

It’s also hardly like Shaw has had the games to show us he can play football at a big club although there was a brief period where he looked like possibly one of the best LB in the world, soooo, I guess that’s why it’s hard to let him go as we all saw what he could be. Injury, confidence, whatever there is so much potential there.

He should be first choice left back in the League Cup.
At least give him that game time.
Our first choice players should be rested for that competition.

The League Cup should be for Rashford (as the CF), Shaw, Herrera, Mata and then players like McTominay, Gomes and Mitchell.

He's made the last 2 benches and given the shitty performances in the position he might well get a chance soon in place of Blind or Darmian.

Yeah but obviously neither of those have been regular starters in the PL. Maybe Shaw will get a start in the final game against CSKA (less certain now that United haven't wrapped the group up already) but it's hard to see Mourinho trusting him before that.

Oh yeah he's not going to get the PL starts but he could get that CL start over them IMO, it's at least an opening for him to get a couple of extra games in as we have a league cup game soon, don't we?

It's shite like this that makes any discussion about Shaw so tedious. Looked like one of the best LB's in the world because he actually played well for about 8 games, Jesus fecking Christ.

Do you not think you can look at a player and see that some are extremely talented ? Took 10 minutes to realise the likes of Ronaldo,Messi, Neymar,Dybala, Giggs,Martial,Thiago Mbappe, lemar and a whole host of others were Something a little bit special. They might not reach the the point their talent suggests but it’s there.

Also in that brief period he looked like a proper worldy. Also notice the use of the word “possibly” in my original post.
Seriously no one can look at that period and not think he could be something special.

Thinking a player is talented and saying he looked like one of the best LB's in the World is a completely different thing. I think Mbappe is the most talented youth player I've seen in a while, but he's not one of the best attackers in football for me. A very good one, yes, but there's many a player above him.

He looked very good in that brief period, but so too has Januzaj. There's literally nothing to suggest (yet) that it was anything more than just a purple patch, as if anything he's regressed tremendously since then.

To me it's simple, he's just another Anderson. Talented for sure, but doesn't have the mentality to cut it at the top level. Will do good for a smaller club with less expectation imo. I'll be happy to see him cut it here, but I don't see it happening.

Let's sell him to Juventus is a player + money deal that would bring Alex Sandro to United.

The posts here suggest he's off or ties should be cut loose, but Jose mourinho has been more positive of him and introduced him to the bench in recent games, with media outlets suggesting he's staying seemingly? Have I missed something to suggest he's off?

The times article is a while ago now and since then Mourinho has involved him to a greater degree (albeit not quite on the pitch yet) and Simon Stone says he's not off.

If he was a goner to the extent posts would suggest, I'd not expect to see him anywhere near that bench with Darmien Young Valencia and Blind all fit surely.

Such a shame if he ends like this. Shaw has so much talent to be the best left back in the league. He needs to work harder and show it to Mourinho. Why can't he look up to players like Zlatan, Young and Rojo, they got long term injuries and now Jose is playing them.

Can’t say I’ve seen Marcelo put in that many better performances than that brief little spell so yeah he looked like he could be at that moment in time the best LB around. Also how are people questioning his mentality? They’ve rarely seen him play for us to show he can. Recently when he has had brief cameos at LB he’s looked the best option.

Must be an absolute wum? Marcelo has been one of the best LB's in the world for the past 3 years. Consistently delivering week in, week out

Yeah consistently he is one of the best. I’m just referencing that at the brief moment of time where Shaw played and was in a purple patch at that time he was probably one of the best performers at LB around. I’m just making the point that in those 5 games he was in Marcelo form. Now obviously consistency over long run is the determination of true world class but we all saw it. The talent is there and for a brief moment he was producing the form of a world class player.

This is as crazy as anything you'll ever read on RAWK

Phil Jones is a decent shout actually, he looked done for and lots on here wanted rid of him for a long time.

Shaw has ability, someone will find it in him and we'll kick ourselves in time if we let him go. Must be down to attitude because there is definitely a quality footballer in there somewhere.

Your trying to compare a run of what 8 games maximum to a guy who consistently over 40 games per season in much more high intensity matches delivers. To be honest I even think this run of games where Shaw did well has been blown out of proportion like he was some world beater. We were playing the likes of Swansea and Newcastle if my memory serves.

Quality material. Top comedian

You’ll be gutted when he starts and you realise he’s not capable of providing support any better than Blind/Young. At least going by his performances for United overall.

Think this is a done deal personally. Our full backs (both) are poorly equipped and he still isn’t getting a look.
