Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

Just remembered they have Kalas as well, he looked good from his first involvements in the first team. And young Christensen from their u21 team is said to be frustrated that he isnt being given chances so perhaps thats more likely to happen with Luis leaving

Not sure what more Woodward could be doing here. Made the bigger bid ever made on an 18 year old left back and made him a six figure per week salary offer? Should he have offered even more???

If you can't convince a young English player to play for Manchester United whilst offering tons of money, you are blatantly doing something wrong.

That Jamie Jackson needs a brick thrown at his face.

And then at the funeral we could all turn up and go a gospel version of this:

I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oooh)
I am for real
Never meant to make reporter die
I apologize a trillion times

I wouldn't disregard Jackson. He was right about Kroos. He stuck his neck out and said it was over even though there were strong reports 24 hrs earlier said that a fee had been agreed. So it does seem like he has some inside info and is confident in his sources.

I feel like us signing up Evra today was about covering our bases incase Shaw is lost cause, because something seems to have turned in this one.

Can those saying if Chelsea nick him this is all Woodwards fault and he's a useless gnome, cnut, cock, wanker (insert relevant expletive here) explain what more the guy could/should have done get this done?

A £27mil opening bid and wages of £100k per week is a huge outlay on an 18 year old left back. Only last week this place was awash with people saying it was far too much to be offering, now he's a useless whatever if it's not enough for Southampton or Shaw decides to stay/go elsewhere.

Mental.

I feel that Evra was extended so that we don't lose another leader in the dressing room in the same transfer window. We've already lost too much experience and leadership with both Vidic and Rio leaving at the same time and losing Evra as well would have been too much.

I hope Woody floats a rumor that we are offering Cashley a 2 year deal just to give Shaw's agent a kick up the backside.

Evra seems to get what United is about and I wouldn't put it past him if he has answered a call of duty, maybe Giggs and Van Gaal have impressed upon him the need for him to help usher the new era and promised him a certain number of appearances over the next season . We have lost a lot of experience so far and it's not rocket science to figure out why need him to stay now, irrespective of what happens with Shaw .
well we'll see i guess, personally evra strikes me as the kind of player who would rather leave than sit on the bench, so i can't see him signing on knowing he would be number two.
And the same goes for shaw I can't see him agreeing to leave Southampton to be be on the bench anywhere, so i don't think we will have both at the club.

But im just guessing like everyone else on this thread, none of us have a clue what going on, and i certainly hope we sign shaw as he has been great this season and looks to have a bright future ahead of him, and i don't wanna see evra be our first choice for another season, he was one of our worse players last year, and his lack of pace has become a real issue.

but if i was a betting man my money would currently be on shaw not signing for us this summer

Or he took up the option that was stipulated in his contract and if he decided to stay there was nothing we could do to stop him?

It's a bit left field, I know.

We didn't sign him up. He had an automatic trigger clause in his contract based on the number of games played, this was met and triggered months ago (widely reported iirc), he only decided to take up that extra year today. So no Evra's contract renewal isn't us covering our bases.

♫There's no business like no business♫

The only reasonable solution to our problems is to move Manchester to London. Or to use our warchest to buy some of those ignorant, scheming Asian fans (which would bring in more money to add to our warchest). You know it makes nonsense.

Seems like he'd prefer to be left back in Southampton once he returns home from the world cup.

Well for one thing he should try and keep our business under wraps, one thing he clearly hasn't learnt from last season. Ogden and a number of others all said he wanted to take a more open approach, and it's just making us (and himself) look like knobs.

Shaw is a Chelsea fans, indeed that will be the main problem but we still have two things. If we can paid Rooney, Young and Nani with such a money per week then beating Chelsea in term of money won't be a problem. Azpilicueta did really well this season as a left back and Chelsea still has Ryan Bertrand for cover, so Chelsea has plenty option in their left back right now.

Obviously it's a problem if it's 100k per week, that's crazy just imagine how much he will ask in the next 4 years, I rather not sign Shaw. But I don't think he will be offered 100k per week

And yet, if all was quiet this place would be full of people stamping their feet because there's no news about us bidding for anyone, and questioning why Woodward isn't doing anything.

Should have been first question: "You want to play for United?" "No? Okay, see ya later."

Personally, I'd be pleased that he had learnt from his mistakes last summer, but I get your point.

He will 100% end up at chelsea...So I wonder who the 2 world class players are that the press keep telling us will be signed before the world cup starts

What you did there? Saw it. Nevertheless, if he goes to Chelsea after this...
It'll because be wants to go to Chelsea...Or was there more to your post that was insinuated? If he goes to Chelsea after this....I'll be sad? If he goes to Chelsea after this....I'll be mad?

Come on man, don't leave me hanging here.
