Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

I'm not losing it, I just think Woodward is a complete tool. If you go big talking to the media about what you're going to do in the summer, you get pulled up when it drops apart.
Has summer past? I could of sworn we had 100 days left till deadline day. Who won the World Cup?

Woodward is in bed with the media mate. I've been told this first hand, they know everything nowadays. I also got told that Moyes had basically agreed deals for Kroos and Shaw off his own back.
I can hardly argue with ITK's.

Aaaaaand now I have a mental image of Big Ed in bed whispering sweet nothings to Jamie Jackson. Thanks.

To be fair, if I know something that I've heard from the horses mouth then I can't pretend I don't know. Not really ITK, just have ties to our ex manager and some of the stuff I heard is relevant to this discussion.

So we went from done deal to a strong position, but we are not favorites? What kind of bullshit nonsense is this article?

The world cup can't get here soon enough.

Agreements with the players maybe, but not with their clubs.

Obviously has to reach fast if we want to sign this guy. Try to get the deal before world cup would be great. After world cup would be harder since with Cole is leaving, Luiz is probably going to leave as well and that's 2 defenders leave and obviously Chelsea won't just leave it like that, they will try harder to buy the replacement.

Why do we always get sucked in to what the papers say? One minute a transfer is done. The next it is off.

They are all just a bunch of cnuts trying to get hits.

All this means is that Shaw wants to wait till after the World Cup so he can talk to van Gaal and figure out where he'd stand next season. Presumably, Shaw had been told he'd be first choice under Moyes but now he's not so sure.

It's really not that much of a surprise and, frankly, it shows good judgement on the player's part.

Yay the transfer merry go round continues. About to sign, stalled, media really have no actual idea.

Can those saying if Chelsea nick him this is all Woodwards fault and he's a useless gnome, cnut, cock, wanker (insert relevant expletive here) explain what more the guy could/should have done get this done?

A £27mil opening bid and wages of £100k per week is a huge outlay on an 18 year old left back. Only last week this place was awash with people saying it was far too much to be offering, now he's a useless whatever if it's not enough for Southampton or Shaw decides to stay/go elsewhere.

Mental.
The worrying thing is that there is still 3+ months of this madness left.

Whilst I agree that Woodward is feeding stories to the media (and not all of them true ones), I really don't believe Moyes had agreed any deals. Had discussions maybe.

By all accounts he wanted to go a club where he would be first choice. Resigning Evra was always going to jeopardise this deal.

I think that we may have as well signed Evra because we lost hope in signing Shaw. I cant remember a time when we had two highly paid full backs at one go.

changing the manager doesn't help either....especially if the new manager is busy elsewhere.

imo it s not looking good, with evra s extension, if we really so close to signing Shaw i d expect us to sell buttner. Now up to some weeks ago Buttner s agent was making lots of noises because his client was not being given chances at ot. Suddenly he s gone very quiet....perhaps he sees a future for his player at ot again?

Or perhaps he realizes his client won't get anywhere near as big a club as United and won't be able to command wages higher or maybe even equal to what we are offering him.

He's getting them right though. It's almost as if he waits for Ogden etc to claim something that's wrong and then he goes public with the truth. Happened with Kroos and now Shaw.

He got one right!!!!

Jeez. Jackson is farcical - always has been. The whole article is based on evra.

Woodward will brief his select group when ready (ladyman, bates, ogden, Herbert, Taylor).

As for Chelsea, Neil Ashton is the one to watch. His articles yesterday and today say the same - Shaw wants Utd but it wont be done till after the world cup.

Will be gutted if we don't get this one sorted. I never got my hopes up as I always thought he'd end up elsewhere but after the strength of the rumours a couple weeks back I couldn't help it. Now I feel as though we've been duped :(

Solidstate should be banned if this doesn't happen by the way... Just saying.

I feel that Evra was extended so that we don't lose another leader in the dressing room in the same transfer window. We've already lost too much experience and leadership with both Vidic and Rio leaving at the same time and losing Evra as well would have been too much.
And with the Shaw deal going to fall through

I never once believed this was going to happen, there has been too much disappointment in recent years with the players we were linked with and the ones we ended up signing for me to get my hopes high. I know it sounds sad and shitty to be always negative but it's how it is. I'm convinced Shaw will not sign for us. I mean why would he when other offers could be there for him to take ?

spot on

But its not - he has got one right....one! There is no "them" - one story, singular.

Neil Ashton continues that hes Utd bound, Taylor mentions in his piece that its on hold till world cup is done, ogden and custis are saying the same. Jackson does not have the same ties to the club that the other north west journos do - you're comparing premier league reporters to one akin to the conference.

I think Shaw isn't so keen on moving to us because if he was the terms in our offer are too good to turn down for both him and his club . I think we are close to a point beyond which it just makes more sense to go for another target .

With us not being in the Champions League, the only way we can get some players, if other Champions League bound teams like Chelsea are also interested, is to make an offer that the player cannot refuse. I don't know how far along we were in negotiations with Southampton, but if a fee was agreed, then the player should have signed the contract straight away. He shouldn't have had a decision to make.

Regardless, I believe LVG has an idea of how to play football. I fully believe that Evra was only kept for his qualities in the dressing room. LVG must realise that Evra simply cannot defend.

If Luke Shaw is genuinely a LVG target, then I think he is the one player who I'd be still fairly sure on getting.
