imo it s not looking good, with evra s extension, if we really so close to signing Shaw i d expect us to sell buttner. Now up to some weeks ago Buttner s agent was making lots of noises because his client was not being given chances at ot. I never once believed this was going to happen, there has been too much disappointment in recent years with the players we were linked with and the ones we ended up signing for me to get my hopes high. I know it sounds sad and shitty to be always negative but it's how it is. I'm convinced Shaw will not sign for us. I mean why would he when other offers could be there for him to take ?

I think Shaw isn't so keen on moving to us because if he was the terms in our offer are too good to turn down for both him and his club . I think we are close to a point beyond which it just makes more sense to go for another target .
With us not being in the Champions League, the only way we can get some players, if other Champions League bound teams like Chelsea are also interested, is to make an offer that the player cannot refuse. I don't know how far along we were in negotiations with Southampton, but if a fee was agreed, then the player should have signed the contract straight away. He shouldn't have had a decision to make.
