We need Solidstate to get the binoculars out and have a peak at Shaw's flat. Any curtain twitching? Any Ian Hislop lookalikes turning up with white bedsheets?

Yeah, it's all very formulaic by now. The same sequence of headlines leading up to every new signing. With the occasional crushing disappointment at the end of it all. I know I sound like an old codger but I really did prefer the days when the first time I knew we'd signed someone was when there was a photo of him in the tabloids holding a United shirt in the air.
 
The transfer window is just a big soap opera at this stage. They should do a Big Brother style TV show, 24 hour surveillance on all linked footballers in a house whilst Eddie and the likes bid on them in the background. Throw Yaya in there for good measure and buy him a dog shit wrapped in a box as his birthday present.
 
Transfer window is the male equivalent of celeb gossip mags.

No - the England squad is back in England next week to play a friendly against Peru, I think they have Saturday 31st off and then fly to Miami on the Sunday. So if nothing is done by then it will be delayed, still plenty of time yet.

Hodgson has said recently he would not stand in the way of any players sorting out transfers during the world cup as long as it does not happen inside the camp.
 
Looks unlikely that this will happen before the WC. I was hoping that we were delaying the Van Gaal announcement because we wanted to tie this one up and announce everything together. Seems not.

I personally think it is unlikely we will get any significant transfers done before the world cup ends.

hodgson said he wants no transfer talk once the sqaud has met up.
and i can't see it been tied up in one day off.

think we have to lay in to rest for the next 7 weeks atleast
 
I was really hoping this would be done by the end of the week or early next week, but it seems to have gone quiet.
 
The MEN were reporting it 95% done yesterday, The Mirror reported he was house shopping in Manchester. Relax.
 
To clear up what Hodgson said he said he did not want agents hanging around and he would not permit medicals, he said he would be foolish to think he could stop phone calls between a player and their agent though, but that he would expect the players focus to remain on England.


Seeing as the window doesn't officially open until July 1st anyway, any announcement before that would be "Player X will sign for Team Y subject to A,B,C,D" I can see no reason this would change any plans we have at the moment

I didn't really interpret it like that, he said he would not stop any calls from agents or clubs so it is feasible for a deal to be arranged either before or during the world cup. If this deal does go through I'd imagine it will be wrapped up by the time of the first match in Brazil, whether it will be announced by then is what I'm not sure about.

i roy was pretty clear on not wanting transfer talk on england time.

well see but i very much doubt thier will be any firm transfer news for players on international duty now till mid july.
