After last summer you can kind of sort of maybe see a trend emerging here.
The deal is agreed. Medical won't happen until after the world cup. Rest assured this is simply the Guardian getting hits, which is dissapointing.
Good. Was hoping it's BS.
Hardly our fault if Southampton have rejected our bid is it.Annoying that we are forever struggling with transfers while Chelsea just rock up with a brand new striker. No hitches, no opening bids. Just done and dusted.
Hasn't the first bid only been reported today? People are massively impatient that days.

Relax! I was taking the piss. It's two days after the season has finished..
For all i know we could get both Coentrao and Luis for about 35-40m.
United, meanwhile, are awaiting a response from Southampton after lodging a bid of £27 million for the club’s England left-back Luke Shaw at the weekend.
With Chelsea and Manchester City understood to be pursuing other options, United are hopeful of concluding a deal for Shaw before the World Cup.
Contrast with the 'Chelsea have agreed a fee...' regarding Costa.
The hell is going on with Woodward.
It's not the first time with Chelsea and signing a player quickly though. We've always seemed to dither in completing transfers, even before Dithering Dave came in whereas Chelsea complete it within a few days. The difference between a player having a release clause or not, perhaps?
Southampton were never going to say yes to a first bid, even if it had been 40m.

That's more like it.
True, but we need someone who can stay fit for more than a couple of games. Look at the history of injuries that Rafael has suffered, he has spend more time out injured than been fit. Do you really want to rely on Smalling and Jones to play that position for most of the season? Also, i'm still iffy about Rafael's defending even though he has been at the club for 6 years.

I fully agree with you and perhaps you misunderstood me. I wasn't suggesting that we should buy both Coentrao and Filipe, i was trying to point out how good and respectful towards Southampton and the player himself our offer is.Coentrao has been playing a fair bit for Real Madrid lately, and neither Coentrao or Luis would want to come here to be a sub.
With Luke Shaw, he wouldn't count towards the 25 man squad for another season or so and with Rio leaving, having another home grown player brought in is important who'd stay for many seasons to come. Those two players are at the peak/near their peak. Shaw isn't and has many years ahead.
I know our fans love to talk silly amounts of money, but Clyne for £10-13m is just silly.

£27mil for an 18 year old left back on the day the season ends is dithering about with below value bids? Why do all our bids seem to find their way into the public now? We dither about with bids below their valuation whilst Chelsea go out and seal a deal without any fuss.

Christ.
It's madness, is what it is, Damien. And Chelsea paid Costa's release clause. Shaw doesn't have one.
The Guardian article is written by Jamie Jackson who is absolutely clueless.
I thought he was meant to be reliable? Or is that James Ducker? The Guardian article is written by Jamie Jackson who is absolutely clueless.
I don't trust that Jackson article. No other papers have reported that the bid was rejected.

Can someone shed some light on why Mark Ogden is reliable? Not necessarily doubting, it's just that in a few threads I keep seeing his name come up as someone who should be trusted and I don't know why
Broke the Moyes sacking news. Since got other things wrong but that doesn't seem to matter on here.
A journalist is only as good as his source, of course he's going to get things wrong. That's part of the job.
