Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

Also why are people saying it's a done deal? Aren't the report saying we've bid for him? Chelsea and City can still blow us out of the water. Let's wait and see what happens.

Shaw agreed to sign for us ages ago. This is where he wants to be. I don't think money will be an issue this summer, the club wouldn't dare feck about after whats transpired this year.

Some have said this looks to be a done deal, but other than SSN saying we've made a bid, has there been anything else from a solid and reliable source in the meantime? Have Southampton actually accepted the bid?

It's just not giving it any due concern. Signing Shaw doesn't automatically mean adnan or his agent will throw a strop. I'm sure after the game on sunday, Adnan will be happy not having to face him again potentially.

Maybe I am over reacting and United will sit down with him this season or the next to give him a better contract. He is a huge talent and we would want him to be happy with us.

This may well be the case but what are you basing it on?

Assuming we signed Shaw who will we make a bid next?

That's largely dependant on Van Gaal. Shaw was simply a perfect fit and with not many great LBs being available, I think he is quite happy with that transfer too.

I'd say Strootman has a very good chance to be a summer target now.

Christ knows. We've been linked with so many players at this stage it's hard to figure out who we're actually interested in. Carvahlo, Kroos, Reus, Fabregas, Hummels, Cavani etc.

Carvahlo is the only one of that group who seems likely to me yet our interested seems to have dipped with Moyes' departure.

Hummels IMO. We will go for the big targets after the World cup. Hummels is pretty big too but out of the big names we are linked to he is the easiest target. Kroos, Fabregas, Reus etc can wait until the world cup. Maybe an offer for Carvalho is imagineable if LvG wants him.

In a few years I hope to look back on this thread and laugh at everyone thinking we got ripped off.

I'm already laughing now

So happy we secured one of the top young leftbacks in the world. His attacking abilities suit our style perfectly.

Probably the amount of noise about Shaw to United since January?

That's what I would base it off, we apparently bid for him in January, the offer was set to be re-visited after the season had finished, because they didn't want him to go mid-season, now a bid has been made according to every journo and paper, and it sounds like a matter of time (like the Mata transfer).

Hold your horses, lets get official confirmation first.

Fair enough, but all the signs look good. We are quietly doing business behind the scenes and giving away nothing to the media, yet the press are the ones circulating the stories around. Just the way we used to do things.

They do, but then I think of all the bad muppet moments and shudder.

Man United closing in on Luke Shaw

By Kevin Palmer

Luke Shaw's switch from Southampton to Manchester United has moved a step closer, after sources close to the transfer told ESPN FC that the deal to take the left-back to Old Trafford "is almost done."

ESPN FC reported in January and again in February that United's eagerness to sign Shaw had not been dampened by their failed attempt to land the Southampton player in the winter transfer window, and now it seems the club are close to finalising an agreement.

Shaw, 18, is set to travel with England to the World Cup finals this summer after national team boss Roy Hodgson overlooked Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole, despite Shaw having played just 45 minutes of senior international football.

Widespread reports have claimed that United submitted a 27 million pound bid for Shaw following their 1-1 draw against Saints at St Mary's Stadium on Sunday.

According to ESPN FC sources, United's new offer for Shaw is an improvement on the figure presented "informally" by Old Trafford officials last January, with Southampton executives believed to be close to agreeing to the deal.

Southampton executive director Les Reed told reporters last month that Shaw and Adam Lallana would not be leaving the club, yet that position appears to have shifted in recent days.

Reports from Sky Sports and the Daily Mirror suggest United are keen to tie up the deal for Shaw before he travels to Brazil for the World Cup, with Old Trafford officials keen to avoid the issues of last summer when their moves for the likes of Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas failed to reach a successful conclusion.

Not sure how reliable Palmer is but it matches what what Martin Samuel was reporting.

Have we even been linked with him seriously anywhere? I'd hope if we are going to go for Carvalho we'd do it before the world cup before other suiters become interested. Don't think we Hummels will go anywhere either, and I don't see Dortmund letting any other stars go this summer after Lewandowski goes to Bayern.

I'm 97% sure that he's ours. There's been too many reports from too many reliable sources to think otherwise. It's been going on for a long time now, so I don't expect it to drag on for much longer.

There were rumours he is on the top of LvG's list of targets and i can see that. He's good in the air and can play the ball out of the defence, he's an LvG type of defender. I can see Dortmund selling him and getting a promising german CB or two.

Quite a few papers mentioned it at the same time including the Telegraph and Times if memory serves, but they mentioned Muller as well which has zero chance.

Does anybody get the feeling that with van gaal inevitable, he watched the game on Sunday and gave the go ahead after watching his performance?

He's not going to Chelsea, been advised by those close to him it's not the right move. Very likely to end up here... I wont say anymore.....

You twat

I'll forgive you if he comes though :D

My source says he's joining Chelsea. Seems we've reached an impasse.

If Shaw does join Chelsea, Leroy should get some sort of tagline as punishment! What's the opposite of an ITK?

banned, hopefully.

What you saying now dicks? huh? huh?

I find it odd that I said that. I think I was joking from the assertion a transfer muppet must have made.

I was no muppett, my sources were legitimate.

I will now reveal my source.

Luke Shaws Dad's taxi driver.....

I thought you were a fan of the Rs? Sorry, that's a worse insult that I intended!
Leroy the Red ...... QPR fan? You're not the sharpest are you?

I'm confusing you with another United fan who also likes QPR (as that's his local side).

Apologies to that guy for confusing him with a rude ITK.

QPR are my local side funnily enough. As a Chelsea fan you should always be rudely spoken to on here. It's only fair.
