Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

Is it that difficult? Us getting rid of Kagawa is a result, especially if we get in someone we need or a decent amount of money for him.
My god.. I see the anti-Kagawa is out in full force now he has played poor twice in a row (I might add out of position)

27m for a LB is indeed mind blowing, seems like his has the potential to be England's new LB for the next 12+ years though so when you look at it like that....

Rafael---Smalling---Jones---Shaw

Actually that could easily be 3 of England's 1st choice back 4 for the foreseeable

Let's not get too carried away it's only a bid. This could be drawn out over the summer very easily if a bidding war starts up and Shaw heads off to the WC.

Patrice Evra has better stats than Shaw this season. I know stats do not tell the whole story.

Evra has 50 interceptions Shaw has like 36 I think.

Shaw has more tackles.

Sky sports news showed a comparison chart earlier.

Exactly. Stats don't show how many times you leave your defense exposed because you're too knackered to run back.

That's true, however, why buy an older player and then have to go through this same thing again in a couple of years when you can buy a teenager who grew up supporting your club and idolising Ashley Cole?

Makes too much sense for them. Can't believe they'd give up so easily.
What does Mourinho care? He'll feck off in a few years anyway.

He has no goals and one assist in 35 games in the league. Is he more a Rafael type in terms of attacking style? I've only watched him two or three times were he was very solid defensively but didn't really do anything in attack.

I had the same impression when I was watching him earlier in the season. Solid in defence but not particularly contributing to their attack. But the more I've watched him, the more I've realised how much he offers going forward. He's a very technical, skilful player. He can play his way out of trouble at the back, take players on, make space, play some incisive passes, one-twos etc. He's also lightening quick. He reminds me of Evra when he goes forward. But he seems more switched on than Evra in defence. Did you see the job he did on Adnan today? Had him in his back pocket, bar one late challenge he mistimed and was booked for. He's so calm and reassured for an 18 year old.

I wouldn't worry about stats. Evra doesn't a tonne of assists for us, and he has a handful of goals but then he is up for corners and those are mainly headed goals. He'll be an asset in attack and defence. In short, he's fecking fantastic, and I will have a wank if we get him.

That's harsh on evra, his crossing has always been decent at least, but his link up play with anyone in front of him has been probably the best around. Always links up really well to get in attacking positions and has always been a willing runner, as well as performing to a very high standard every single week, and always being fit. We'll miss his link up play but it's and character but it's his defensive lapses that have become more frequent as he's gotten older.
Agree on everything except crossing ;) he gets in really good positions very often, but his crossing is inconsistent at best. It seems to me he rarely looks for someone particular in the box, and he likes to take one touch too many.

Poor City. Hours after they win the title they're only the 3rd biggest sporting story of the day. Sky Sports News just plugged their next hour by saying

"Coming up we'll bring you more on Ashley Cole's retirement from international football, the breaking news that Luke Shaw has been subject of a £27m bid from Manchester United.....and more on City's title win"

I'd offer them £27m.

If they were prepared to take Kagawa off our hands then I'd happily up that to £30m to be rid of him.
 Some people. You know, a player that loads of champions league clubs would willingly bid £20m for, a top class player with great technique, he's clearly a hindrance to us and is forcing us to play our shit tumescent football.

This is only going one way cause its only Utd in this league for the past decade that pays this kind of money for British young talent. The other teams would sooner buy a 25 -27 year old player for 2 seasons.

Perhaps we could offer a switch or loan deal with Büttner, believe Southampton were interested in him before.

Offering Zaha might help.

With Smalling and Valencia on the other side we'll play like we've had a stroke.
You're one of the worst posters on here, but that was a quality post.

He's a decent player and that guy is clearly talking nonsense but what has Kagawa done in two years for his value to increase? We'd get less than 15m if we sold him.

I'd never seen him until today since I only watch our games, but your description is exactly what I saw, and regarding all the 30m/100k rumors I went from grumbling over 'the state of football' to 'oh fine get it done.' Except the 100k bit still seems a bit silly.

Him and Januzaj reminded me of a chinese proverb - there's an idiom(?) called spear/shield which loosely translates into oxymoron/paradox - regarding the whole 'unstoppable force/immovable object' thingamajig.

A Southampton fan on their forum seriously suggested Buttner being thrown into the deal. It didn't go down well.

Really? I highly doubt it.

I don't know much about Luke Shaw - well, who's going to spend their time watching Southampton unless they had to? - but if he's as highly rated as people suggest, the price tag isn't that surprising; English player premium and all that.

It's obvious he's coming, Southampton will reject this for appearances and accept a bid of around £30m. It's been on the cards for months and bidding this early just shows how serious we are to get it done.

Saw the SSN report and came immediately here. I can't believe the amount of negativity about this. Without doubt, an astonishingly large prospect in world football. That, coupled with his PL experience and performances thus far = a player we simply MUST have. feck the fees and wages being quoted, clubs know that we're on the hunt for players and will most certainly inflate everything! We need a LB, he is an extremely good LB and arguably, the biggest prospect in the world at LB. This is a bad thing how?

Aye we certainly didn't go public on Fabregas because that was a done deal
Yep we'll go public on Shaw before its wrapped up despite interest from 2 league rivals, one who the player happens to support and are looking for a left back not to mention they would probably offer more money wage wise plus European football. Makes perfect sense.

Sky Sports understands that Ed Woodward just printed this out and framed it.

We got him for £12m because he had 1 year left on his contract, if it was a normal situation he would have gone for twice that probably. He's still had good moments here and there and while we would probably sell him for 15m as we always seem to sell players for low prices, I don't think we'd have any problems find top clubs looking to sign him, and so we'd be able to get £20m for him if we wanted to. If he played for like atletico Madrid and showed form like he has these last few months overall (ignoring being played in a midfield duo), I'm pretty sure he'd be going for over £20m easily. He's still young, is a very smart player and is great technically. Just not suited to united. Given that he also still performs well for his national team I'm sure most others know he's still a. Quality player and don't just turn shit.

Really? I highly doubt it.
£20m isn't that much these days, especially for a talented player like him who isn't even at his prime yet age wise. I said it in the other post but if we were buying him from somebody, he'd go for mid to high £20m, rather then what we'd sell him for. His problem at united is having Rooney and mata both in front of him in the pecking order to play his position so he has to play out of position.

Please tell me you are not in charge of somebody else's money!
