Ah right, you claim it is a done deal so?I grew up with someone who is best mates with a new member of the first team.
I've noticed that teams often do that when they're playing each other. Could be nothing more than that.

Hard to tell here. Some poster I saw making a big deal a few weeks ago when Shaw apparently followed Phil Neville on twitter and took it as he's a certainty for us now.I am pretty sure he was making a joke.
Are you related to IndyKalia by any chance?
Liverpool fans reckon they are signing Moreno, worried he could be a much better deal.
He may end up failing to live up to his hype and revert to become just a simple young english leftback that isn't anywhere near the best in the world ( a bit like Anderson or Nani failled to live up to their hype) in that case he could be here for a long time or he could be sold to some other Pl team and he wouldn't have been worth the £30m investment.
He may end up living up to his hype and become the best lefback in the world, in which case no doubt he'll have Real Madrid all over him in a couple of years and we'll have to see how much we'll get for him to decide if he was worth the £30m or not. Or he might decide to feck us over when his contract is running out and decide to ditch us for his boyhood club chelsea.
There are many scenario thinkable were he wouldn't stay here for his entire career, no certainty about that at 18 years old. Just as you don't have a certainty that he'll become the best leftback in the world (in fact I don't think he'll ever be because Alaba clearly is). But I do know one thing for sure, just being english doesn't warrant £10m more in the price tag.
Will Chelsea break our heart?
As I'm Southampton based, I feel sorry for Saints - Lallana probably off, Shaw probably off, and maybe the manager too. Saints have had such great players down the years, if they could have kept hold of them, they'd have been challenging for honours.

Southampton and MUFC twitter accounts have just followed each other. Negotiating transfers through DMs.

Jose said it was Cashley's last game today
Aren't they looking at the Atletico left back?
It does stink that they're losing their best players, but hopefully they'll be able to reinvest the £42m they make from these deals and push on.
Best way to organise the announcing and timing the transfer announcement over twitter.Southampton and MUFC twitter accounts have just followed each other. Negotiating transfers through DMs.

In fairness, he was probably involved in getting this one to whatever stage it is or isn't at.It's depressing that Moyes shelled this amount on afro man. I wonder if he'll be stupid enough to pay it again and take him back when he's at his new club. I wouldn't put it past him.

Do you lot think Van Gaal gave the go ahead on this one or that it's such a no brainer, you just bought him without a managers say so.

The TelegraphManchester United make £27 million bid for Southampton and England left back Luke Shaw
Luke Shaw could become one of the most expensive teenagers in history after Manchester United table a £27 million offer for the left back
By Jeremy Wilson, and John Percy
Luke Shaw is on the brink of becoming one of the most expensive teenagers and full-backs in football history after Manchester United last night tabled a £27 million bid to Southampton on Sunday night.
United are determined to rebuild their squad after their worst ever Premier League season and, with Louis van Gaal's appointment as manager now imminent, they have moved to make Shaw their first summer signing.
There is also interest in Shaw from Manchester City and Chelsea but, with Uefa's Financial Fair-play regulations beginning to bite, also a reluctance from these clubs to pay beyond £25 million for a left-back.
The most expensive full-back in football is Dani Alves, who cost Barcelona £29 million, while Wayne Rooney was the most expensive teenager in football when he joined Manchester United in 2004 for £26.5 million.
Shaw was again outstanding on Sunday as Southampton held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw and it appeared significant that both he and Adam Lallana should be substituted and then linger as they left the pitch to acknowledge all four corners of the ground.
42million? Lallana is going for £17? Reckon it will be 20+
Thanks, that's interesting. My oppinion on Evra is based on the fact that he rarely hits a good cross while in good position, while I saw many good crosses from Shaw (not only today of course). Evra is very good at keeping possession though. To be honest the stats I was referring to I'd seen at a glance. Now looking into it, I guess what I'd seen is a little skewed because Evra has the extra CL games, but regardless his are better:
Evra - 3 goals and 5 assists in all competitions.
Shaw - 1 assist (I thought I'd seen it was 2, but seems to be 1 wherever I look)
I stumbled across this as well:
If Southampton get in the region of 50-55m for Shaw and Lallana, I think they will be happy with that.
They will easily get a decent left back for a decent price. Lallana would be replaceable from somebody in Europe, and they would have plenty of money to spare, on top of any budget they had before hand.
They may weaken, but overall, if they spend wisely, they will definitely improve overall
Well done on your 1000th postIs this ON?
Not the opposite of the type of player Mourinho buys, though. He normally goes for experienced, established players. Can't get excited until I know Chelsea are 100% out of the picture.
Luis from Atleti doesn't seem like the type of player Chelsea would buy. He's 29 years old and surely only has a few seasons left at the top. The exact opposite of the type of player they've bought recently.
Matt Targett looks a good prospect as well and is highly rated by SouthamptonThe thing is I don't think Shaw will be a huge loss to them even if they didn't replace him at all. They already have Clyne who has played very well at left back plenty of times and Calum Chambers has just started to break into the team this season so they essentially have a ready-made replacement right there.
