It may not make sense to you but for some it does. When you take into account how much full backs are bought for in general you realize it's a lot of money ofr a relatively unproven player. He's young and english, those two criteria inflated the price. I'll be happy to see him at Utd as I rate him and if he proves his worth his price will mean feck all, it won't stop me from thinking he cost a lot. We're a desperate club so it's natural we're going to fleeced by teams.

Shaw is roughly 6ft. He impressed me in terms of his jump and strength in the air today. Made a fantastic run down the wing, fed Lallana then ran into the box to get on the end of Lallana's cross. Was inbetween Vidic and Evra but still out jumped both and headed narrowly over.

People tend to look at full back positions as secondary, but today especially if you can get a full back who is both good at attacking and defending, it's huge. With a lot of teams not playing with wingers - and hopefully us following that trend - it means you need a full back to create width. So while it's a lot of money and there's a lot of English tax in there, it can still be a quality deal if he becomes as good as he can.
