Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

I think they'll have agreed a 'fair price' but I'm not sure if Shaw will make the move - particularly if other clubs match the offer.

Someone will obviously have felt the need to leak it from either side to make it a bit dramatic after the game.

Well...this was fast. I wouldn't expect the summer craziness to occur this quickly.

Sigh...it seems as if anything outside of the transfer forum may soon become less active until the World Cup starts...

We are moving extremely fast. I expect bids to be made for all of our targets in a week or 2. I do not think United will be doing any business after the world cup. If certain players can't be had before the world cup, we will pass on them.

When does the transfer window open?

Are we even allowed to bid outside it, or can they only sign on the dotted line after 1 July?

How does it work?
You can bid for players and agree deals at any time.

I think it's July 1st when they can actually officially move and change their registration from one club to another.

You can agree a deal with the club and a contract with the player, they just don't officially sign with the club until the window opens.

The transfer window is for deals to go through but they can be agreed beforehand.

Can't things be agreed upon but not made official until July 1?

feck sake, I didn't want to watch SSN tonight for fear of seeing scenes of City fans phlegming off

I wonder if Van Gaal gave the go ahead?

It may seem like crazy money, but we're paying for potential, serious potential. Just as we did with Rooney, De Gea and Rio.

He's already better than Evra and will solve a big issue in our team for the next 10+ years. 30 million is a lot of money for a fullback, but he'll be worth it.

I'd say he's definitely better defensively. Not going forward though. The stats certainly imply he isn't even close. He's so young though that there's clearly plenty of potential for that side of his game to improve.

It is really the registration window. Deals can be done anytime but, players can not be registered for competitions outside of the two windows.

Hard to imagine any manager who takes on the job disagreeing with this transfer. Assuming they aren't interested in having a say in the figures anyway

A few journalist have been saying that the club was keen to get transfers done before the WC, so this makes sense.

It will be like 2007. All the main targets sewn up really early.

What other club of our size can offer him an instant starting 11 place? Buttner and Evra won't provide this kid with much competition IMO. Plus, I'm sure that wages aren't a problem for us, they never have been.

He'll be a very solid left back for a long time at the very least.

£30m is good value. He's good for 12 years. That's 3 left backs for £10m each in that time. Why not one for £30m?

9th of June, I think. And we can sign players, they just can't officially join us until the window opens.

If Chelsea decide Azpilicueta moves back to the right and they can offer him a spot on the left then they potentially offer a better move.

I'm naturally apprehensive this summer.

Great news about the bid, we might need to up it a bit if Southampton play hard ball but that's a decent offer and he will potentially be with us a very long time so we should do what it takes before Chelsea try.
