Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

Wasn't there a tweet weeks ago that said Luke Shaw had told his friends that he would be playing for United next season.

Are all our bids going to go public again just like last summer? I preferred it when we didn't have a clue what was going on.
This, I hope we at least spoke to Southampton before launching bids or this will be the Fabregas saga all over again.

This is how Woody must be feeling right now

YEAH BOI!

You can bid for players and agree deals at any time.

I think it's July 1st when they can actually officially move and change their registration from one club to another.

You can agree a deal with the club and a contract with the player, they just don't officially sign with the club until the window opens.

The transfer window is for deals to go through but they can be agreed beforehand.

Can't things be agreed upon but not made official until July 1?

It is really the registration window. Deals can be done anytime but, players can not be registered for competitions outside of the two windows.

9th of June, I think. And we can sign players, they just can't officially join us until the window opens.

I guess that clears that up...

I'd say he's definitely better defensively. Not going forward though. The stats certainly imply he isn't even close. He's so young though that there's clearly plenty of potential for that side of his game to improve.
I would disagree. I don’t think Evra is that good going forward these days (not a surprise considering how over-used he was in last few years). His crossing is quite poor for a fullback IMO.

Could you post this stats? I’m curious how they go head-to-head.

We are not resting on our laurels this summer and there is money to spend, which are good signs.

27m is quite steep for a young relatively unproven 18-year old left back but it will be money well spent if Shaw can play for us for the next 15 years. I hope that part of that sum is performance related and that Ed preserves some money for our dire midfield.

I just looked it up, seems Shaw can join us as soon as the deal is done:

Although, in England, the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, transfers between clubs in the same association can take place as soon as the last competitive fixtures for the season have been played

This is too fecking expensive for a LB but it ain't my money so I don't care.
LB is not a lesser position than any other IMO. We wouldn't be where we are without our solid and talented LB's. To call an LB expensive "just" because he's an LB doesn't make sense to me.

It's a good opening offer from us (for once). I would expect an official rejection and us upping it to £30m and that will be accepted.

The amount of the bid is reassuring, when contrasted with our opening bid of £25m for Fabregas last summer. It seems Woody has learned his lesson - make a realistic offer and try to get it done quickly.

Why the feck is this public. It's great and all we're buying, but a little secrecy would be nice.

Because Man City won the title. I am surprised we aren't announcing the next manager right now. Would have taken the spotlight away from City a little.

Are you kidding? This kid is the closest English football has produced to a Paul Scholes type player since Paul Scholes.

Kid? He's 26. And has played most of his career in the lower leagues.

For future reference do not post rumours in the Manchester United forum.

Players can join clubs whenever they want but they can only register to play in the two set windows. We're not playing again until our US tour friendly so he can join tomorrow if he wants

We're willing to spend £27m on a left back, imagine how much we can spend on a centre mid!

Cue the £25m for Fabregas, etc.

Very exited about this guy. Suppose this means the manager situation has been dealt with also.
