I wouldn't be so sure. We'd be mad to pay much more, and the rumours that we've seemingly had him all but signed for a while now probably means this could be done and dusted pretty quickly.

Definitely more than usual. Off the top of my head - Fabregas, Baines, Fellaini, Khedeira, Coentrao, De Rossi. All of those were unanimously confirmed by the press, the club or the player himself. That didn't happen during Gill's time.
I took the liberty of putting that in the title for muppetary reasons.
Don't think we'll blindly make formal bids like we did last time around with Fabregas and Baines. If we bid 27m I'm sure we learned our lesson and actually discussed the valuation of Shaw with Southampton before me made this formal.
