Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

It'll be interesting to see how he does against us today. If Pat's is indeed leaving then we'd best finalise this deal as soon as possible, I'd be annoyed to see this go on past the World Cup when, if he impressed in Brazil, his value would surely go up.

People know about Shaw. A World Cup wouldn't do much to his value, United already know what Southampton want for him. It's the lesser known players that have their price bumped up after World Cups.

That's got to be way too strong. I Don't think anyone says Rio was a "Bargain" and he was provided magnificent service that Shaw will do well to match
No, I don't think anyone could say Rio was a bargain, but his price-tag was certainly vindicated as we got 10+ years of a world class defender.

I'm not saying Shaw will have the same impact, but he has the potential to. Even if he can't perform to Rio's level, he would still be a good buy if it means we have a solid left back for the next 10 years.

For me I don't give a toss what we pay for him, as long as we get him. After his first season with us no one will be talking about the fee.

On the contrary, mate, I think we'll constantly be hearing about his fee all season. Every mistake he makes or every time he's outplayed by the opposition teams LB we'll hear "you paid £30m for that!?" or "our LB cost a fraction of Shaw and played better!"

You never know. It could have a Fernando Torres effect on the kid where he's got massive pressure to live up to his ridiculous transfer fee. If he has anything less than a spectacular season with us there will be media and opposition harassment about the fee.

Oh absolutely, at the start his fee will be getting a lot of attention. I meant at the end of the season - I'm very confident in this kid, I don't think anyone will be complaining about the fee come the end of his first year with us.

Meh, same happened with De Gea. People were telling us we should've got Vorm instead.

How much would we pay for this kid? At his age, he is already a class player & a lot more potential.

30mil would be a lot of money but would it be worth it in the long run?

He would be so perfect for us. Hopefully we can get a deal done before the WC.

That was nothing new. He's very good and would be worth every penny.

I hope we have already wrapped up a deal for him because you just know he will perform well in the WC and his price will skyrocket ala Rio Ferdinand.

I hope we announce a deal to sign him in the next couple of weeks, the guy is a super star in the making.

Its impossible to tell, but its hard for a left back to prove to be worth £30 million. At the same time if he's quality for us for 9 or 10 seasons, then of course it was more than worth it. Getting into the champions league propers once would make the money back right?

He would be a quality addition. So much confidence on the ball and he showed his proficiency in the defending aspect of the game by keeping Januzaj quiet the majority of the game. We just need to adopt a good philosophy that takes advantage of the maurauding fullbacks to get the best of him at United.

Safe to say after the way he was substituted today, that was his last game in a Southampton shirt.....
