Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

Ya just searched on twitter and that seems to be the case. Apparently Andy Mitten is saying the same. He has very close links at United so there could be something in it. We certainly seem to have been linked with Shaw an awful lot the last few weeks.
Yeah, it's exciting man, he was my number one target for us and I can not wait to see how he developes further and becomes a legendary Left Back. He really has that talent, I haven't seen a left back have his potential in years.

Can't wait.

 There's no mention of it in the Mirror, their sister paper the People which is somehow much shitter than the Mirror reported it in the Sunday papers. Don't be getting your hopes up because they and RI are reporting this.

Tomorrow's papers...
I've seen the morning back pages, not a word while the only United article I've seen is Evra talking about how they're more up for it in Europe at the moment. I'd love us to get Shaw, his composure is phenomenal for someone so young and he could be a fantastic left back for us for 10-15 years, and it does seem like we're very interested but I'm just saying that SolidState (who is clearly just a WUM anyway) is making a bit much of very dubious reports.

That's absurd money to be throwing at an eighteen year old, but this is how we will have to operate this summer.

Well fingers crossed it's true. I'm not intentionally winding people up I just thought I'd share what I've seen as well. Andy Mitten is pretty reliable too.

Top dollar for a top talent but it's to be expected when we're looking very likely to miss out on champions league. Better to overspend and get our targets rather than missing out again and going another season out of top 4.

Solidstate obviously got the story from the same place i found it. I posted the link a few posts back...

Just wait & see how it pans out - pinch of salt type of shit...

So it's in tomorrow's papers, except that it probably isn't and Andy Mitten's reporting it, except that no one seems to be able to say where.

Twitter at its rock solid best again.

Mitten will probably post something on the matter on United We Stand's forum, if he is reporting it. Expect some news to trickle out.

Its not from Twitter - well not Andy Mitten anyway, its from "The People's Person" website:

http://thepeoplesperson.com/2014/04...d-85000-a-week-deal-for-27m-luke-shaw-report/

I found it from the NewsNow United feed: http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Football/Premier+League/Manchester+United

Every whisper about United gets loaded on that...

Got him £27m 85k a week in the papers tomorrow. Been a huge admirer of this kid and have been watching Southampton just to scout him. He'll eventually be the best left back in the world.

No seriously, how did you get promoted.

In fairness in reading that RI tweet - they seem to be asking the question "?" rather than sayin its sorted...

Well I guess they want to leave it a bit unclear to get people to download the podcast to find out more. If they had a quote from Mitten saying it was a done deal nobody would bother with the podcast.

I think I got promoted because of my opinions on games and players as well as tactics.

My transfer posts have always been on the excited side.

They may have a quote from Mitten sayin something thats been reported a while ago - prospective fee & wages for Shaw, but probably nothing new or Mitten stickin his neck out sayin its sorted. Its just speculation in my opinion after reading that RI tweet. The clue is the "?". They're tryin to mislead, which has shot themselves in the foot to be honest.

They cant bitch & moan about shitty journalism anymore if they're stooping to those same levels, but even worse as it's coming from a United fanzine. Poor show...

Yeah absolutely but you could look at it the other way and perhaps they do know something about it. We won't know unless the story blows up.

Would love it if we signed Shaw. It's the best player we could realistically sign in his position.

Imagine if we signed Shaw AND a great central midfielder. Deary me!

Ya fair point. I guess we have to wait until someone listens to the podcast. :p I'd imagine if it is anything of note a few of the papers would run his quotes tomorrow in any case.

So he's a bit of a transfer muppet, aren't we all? He's obviously capable of a good post or two if he got promoted in 200 posts.

Fair enough if he is saying he wants us to sign Shaw, Kroos, Reus, etc. but saying we are "very very close" to signing Kroos or that a deal for Reus will be sorted by Wednesday is taking it too far IMO.

Yeah i dig what you're sayin man, it just looks suss though.

Read again what "The People's Person" reported. The only real story is that the reports are coming out of Southampton - not Mitten or Red Issue, they said something similar in January but not tonight:

"Manchester United have agreed an £85,000 a week deal to bring Southampton‘s Luke Shaw to Old Trafford, pending contracts being signed, according to reports close to Southampton.

Both Andy Mitten and Red Issue have reported the wages and the £27 million fee was first reported back in January when the links between United and Shaw began to gather pace..."

Seems a pile of shite at this stage...

I double dare ya to spend all your hard-earned money & pay for that podcast man

Still wouldnt be enough man, an improvement of course, but not enough.

If Evra leaves we'll need back-up for our 1st choice LB - i'd love Coentrao to come in & he wouldnt cost more than €10m, and thats a complete steal for a talent like his. He'd be a great option for LB if we didnt get Shaw & even if we got both (which we need), they'd up each others game big time..

We need atleast 2 or 3 top-class CM's, a RB to compete with Rafa / take his spot, 2 CB's since Rio & Vida are movin on, a left-winger, a right-winger or a hybrid & atleast a striker, since Chicharito will want to move on & RVP may well want the same...

Add those numbers up & its around 9 or 10 players coming in & replacing the players goin out... Never gonna happen of course, but...

Coentrao isn't coming here if he sniffs out there's 5% chances he won't be starting the vast majority of games and Moyes won't bench Shaw who would be twice as dear.

Wouldn't be the first time an agent has leaked details of an offer in the hope that other clubs better it. I doubt Soton would sell for £27m unless they were sure they couldn't get more from another club. Similarly, I doubt United under Moyes would be Shaw's first choice.

Might happen but I suspect it will be deep into the summer transfer window if it does.

I dont think that we'll get both players. I feel it would be either Shaw and Evra signs a 1 year contract extension or else we bring Coentrao and keep Buttner as cover.

It's pretty hard to imagine us spending £40m on left backs so if we get Shaw I would guess we'll hold on to Buttner for another year.

Mitten and Co also had Fabregas as a certainty last year. When it did not happen they claimed Cesc led us down the garden path. Not disgarding them completely as a source- but would take with a pinch of salt.
