Oh fecks sake.

Good post, you could try responding with sentences though, it's a fair question. We have nothing confirming this "done deal" and you get arrogant when seeing other discuss the deal might be off, so I ask, what special information are you privy to?

It's nothing arrogant. It's common sense, the BBC report just further confirms what many of the non-moaners have been saying in this thread for ages.

You can still whine and moan about Woodward and Chelsea gazumping us though, I'm not stopping you.

He isn't privy to any info, but he's basing it on the fact so many reliable journalist have pretty much said it's a done. If you scroll up you will see James Ducker say a deal has been agreed. BBC said Shaw informed Southampton he wants to leave. So it does seem to be done or close to being done.

 I implore you to find a post from me moaning about Woodward or Chelsea gazumping us, I'm not an idiot, nor did I claim you tried stopping me, so I'm not sure why you feel the need to point it out.

It's not common sense though, it's what your opinion of what common sense would come to, there are plenty of common sensed alternatives, such as he hasn't made any decisions and it's all speculation, but I wouldn't say that in a manner that contradicts everyone else and implies I know better, I don't and nor does anyone in this forum, if you think it's a fact that it's a done deal, then I'm afraid you're wrong. I know what you are saying, we have an abundance of little complaining girls that multiply when summer hits, but it is what it is, you still can't claim something is a done deal, when nothing has confirmed it.

So I wouldn't be able to find times before where Ducker has claimed something and it hasn't happened? My problem wasn't with what he believed, but the certainty at which he presented his opinion.

I apologize that the certainty at which I presented my opinion offended you so much that you went on to write a pointless paragraph about common sense.

I'll leave it there, perhaps you aren't mature enough to have this discussion, but just so you know, "offended you so much that you went on to write a pointless paragraph about common sense", I just corrected you, it doesn't mean I was put out my friend, but sorry if I led you to believe otherwise, anyway didn't want to derail the thread..

Maybe they're waiting to appoint a new manager and then asking him what he'd like to do with Lallana and Shaw.

Shaw's value isn't likely to drop much over the course of a season but Lallana's might as he's older. They could sell Lallana for £25m, keep Shaw another season and sell him next year for £30m.

Im pretty relaxed about this one but clearly until the deal is officially announced you cant rule anything out.
Considering the Ramsey deal was briefly announced on the United website and the Mikel deal was supposedly done too, I wouldn't blame the existing caution on here.

Hopefully people will now stop coming up with "Need to sort this deal quickly or Chelsea will Gazump" line now. The deal is done.
We've all seen with the Willian saga that chelsea has no limitations when it comes to gazumping. We need to get that deal done asap. Thankfully it seems Mou fancies the atl left back more.

After Aaron Ramsey and John Obi Mikel I have learned not to celebrate a new signing until ... I have seen the player make his debut for United (ok - Mikel was a bit special but still)

There's no such thing as a done deal until ink has been put to paper, which is not yet the case at this time. We all saw what happened with Lucas Moura, and even Willan who was already having a medical at Spurs. Though I believe he'll still end up here [not even Woodward can allow this slip, for his reputation if nothing], it's not yet a "done" deal.

Very strange, obviously was discussed to death, strange I missed it, still, I didn't think transfers were announced on club sites until it's all signed to stop precisely this?

It says fee agreed - not that a transfer was done. Very different things. It also says no medical has taken place and that other clubs have bid for him.

At the same time, that announcement doesnt leave you thinking it is a completely done deal. It pointed out the club had still not agreed terms with him, and that other clubs were also talking to him.

Thanks for that guys, I was unaware, I suppose for the everyday Joe (me) seeing that we have an agreement in place to buy him pending a medical wouldn't be any different from seeing him in a United shirt. It's the only the more experienced fans that realise it doesn't always add up, still seems stupid to me as a football club to post anything about a potential signing until it's concrete.

I'd love to see him at United and honestly I am happy that we're finally getting a full back whose defensively sound. Call me old fashioned but this whole 'full backs shouldn't be great in defending' stuff is crap. Quality full backs should be able to defend, that's why they are quality in the first place. The likes of Maldini, Zanetti and Irwin were great defenders and they could move forward with the ball with the same elegance (if not more) then any of the modern full backs with a fancy name and who do not have a clue of what defending is.

If a deal has been agreed and a new manager will presumably be expected to be bound to this 'agreement in principle' deal they have, why does he need to be appointed for it to go through?
Why does it matter? You asked all the same questions when van Gaal wasn't announced quickly enough.

There's nothing we can do if Southampton want to hold off. As long as he comes does it matter if it's today, tomorrow or in a few weeks time when England get bombed out at the group stage?

It says we agreed the fee with Cardiff and personal terms, medical etc were to follow. Also says 2 other clubs had bids accepted and were in talks with Ramsey. It doesnt say we've signed him.
Off topic, but if only we'd pulled off the Ramsey and Bale signings and kept Pogba! Would have saved us a fair bit of money now!

What let you privy to such information the rest of us aren't able to see? It's not a done deal at all...

It's safe to say it's as good as at this stage. All the indications from the reliable Manchester based journalists (Ogden, Ducker and Taylor) are that the deal is only a matter of time. The BBC today reported that Shaw has informed Southampton that he wants to join us. Fair enough if you wont get your hopes up until you see it confirmed on the club's official website but Shaw will join us this summer.

Ducker said deal is in place a few weeks back, Ogden said the same and BBC are also saying he wants the move. This is as good as done unless we offered 30m and they rejected it as well. We could have pulled out again if they rejected a 2nd offer and this was a leak from Shaw's camp to maybe try and get things moving again but this is all speculation at the end of the day. If it's as done as it's being reported, I do expect an agreement to be announced.

Go and look up what a done deal is, 99.9999 isn't done.. I'm not being facetious but you bring that up from this morning, only to repeat a dead invalid point? I hope he joins, but it isn't certain yet.
