Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

Shaw was rejected by Chelsea as a youth player.., i doubt he even cares for them anymore. Hes probably a Southampton fan more than anything.

It's true. One lad who went to my school was a big Arsenal fan. He then got signed for Chelsea and is playing for their U18/U21 team and he's more of a Chelsea fan.

Even though from a fan's perspective it seems strange for a player to switch allegiances, it happens all the time with footballers.

I guess from a players point-of-view, if they support Arsenal but then Chelsea sign then up, bring them through the ranks and treat them with some respect, it's only natural for the player to have respect towards the club, enjoy their time there, they have an advantage on knowing how things work from inside the club so they appreciate how the club is run. If it was me, I'm pretty sure my allegiances would shift if I were to play for a club other than the one I've supported pretty much all my life. Of course, I wouldn't totally wash my hands of United :nono:

Aspiring footballer rarely have any true affiliation or allegiance to a specific club in my eyes. Their sole ambition is to make it as a professional footballer at the highest possible level and for any club that meets that category. Rightly so.

One of the kids in the class I work in (year 4) is an Arsenal fan but is playing in some sort of Tottenham academy. I can't see himself changing allegiances now, but then in ten years time if he's still in the academy I suppose things can change.

But then Terry still has love for United so it's all swings and roundabouts I suppose.

Im pretty sure alot of our players werent United fans when they joined. Nani, Young, Cleverley, Rooney, RVP, Carrick, Fletcher, Rio, Evra in time, like everyone they are corrupted and join the red side.

Once you become a professional, boyhood/family allegiance goes out the window.

You choose the best club for yourself. I very much doubt anybody here would turn down a professional contract at liverpool or City if they had the chance.

Surely it was the fact the England team were training in Portugal? They're back now and it would help to get their futures sorted before the World Cup.
It's not like their in a concentration camp and are training 24-7. Players would surely be in contact with their agent's the entire time.

No doubt to cross the T's and dot the i's you have to be there in person, but I bet any actual "agreement" would have been made whether he's there or not.

Well it's good news that we are to resume negotiations today. That's a turn up for the books after hearing nothing for 3 weeks. Also the fact that the Lambert deal has been done today, shows signs that they are beginning to do business.

I don't disagree with that. Going on what Ogden and co have been saying, an agreement seems to have been in place for some time. Now that he's back in the country, negotiations with both clubs can be finalised. That's what I'm assuming and hoping is the case anyway.

Fingers crossed we hear something today or tomorrow. It sure would be a lovely weekend if we got news of a signing.

My sources have just informed me that his source confirms the initial reports about said player were true, I trust my source, 60% of the time he's right everytime. In short I can confirm that the interest in the player is of course correct assuming that the aforementioned source is as reliable as I'd like him to be, you'll have to trust me on this one.

 I hope this is a reference and you're taking the piss.

My sources indicate that he has a 50% chance of joining, but there's only a 10% chance of that

What is there in that article that hasn't already been said?

We won't be signing him. They will tease us with his signing before he joins another club. This is how United is running these days. Then, we will have the MUFC TV drones saying how the market had no value or some other bullshit and expect us to finish in the top four or better with a worse squad than last season. It's both sad and pathetic. I really wish someone could buy The Glazer's out and sack Ed Woodward before he gets us relegated.

Good to have so many optimistic new posters on the forum.

And it's not even June

Definitely.

Yes, it's not June yet, but other clubs have done business and we haven't. I'm glad you think it's funny. I wonder how much you will be laughing come August when we make a desperate signing on deadline day because Ed's failed again to land our targets. How much will you laugh when we finish outside the top ten. I could go on, but Ed Woodward has yet to show he knows what he's doing in the transfer window.
