Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

In my opinion we signed Evra for two reasons

a) we need experience. Vidic and Rio are gone and we've got a fairly un experienced defense now
b) we don't want anyone to hold us to ransom. If Shaw doesn't sign then tough luck, we still have Evra.

I was never shy in criticizing and ridiculing United bids in the past. The 25m bid for Fabregas was ridiculous. However 27m for Shaw is very fair if not flattering. No one will spend more then that on an 18 year old full back unless he's either stupid or very very rich.

If it is true that SHAW will only sign after the world cup, we might have a chance of getting him cheaper. England always under perform at World Cup nowadays.
Or the ridiculous £27m fee has already been agreed and the details like medicals etc will be sorted after the WC

I agree with this. Hopefully it doesn't backfire and people see Evra as an obstacle to first team football though.

Evra won't last forever. He's 33 and already showing clear signs of decline. Any player not seeing that shouldnt come at United in the first place

Good post. If not Shaw (I think we've got him), I'm sure we'll have someone else in mind.

What??
Signing for Tottenham for what 27m and not signing for United with LVG as a manager after he made some of the best players in the world..
Yeah that´s reason enough.

No chance spuds are gonna blow the majority of their budget on a left back when they already have Rose.

I was listening to him on Talkshite this morning, and I was thinking "who is this idiot" before I found out who it was. I was surprised, because Pally usually talks a reasonable amount of sense.

Where are Spurs going to get another £60M odd to spend on Shaw, Lallana and Rodriguez anyway?

Shaw hardly has any loyalty to Pochettino anyway, he's only been there what 2 years?. Just because He's moving to Spurs does not mean he's taking him when Chelsea / Utd are interested.

I don't think he'd (at his age) rate Van Gaal as highly as United fans suddenly do. But it's likely he very much rates Pochettino.
And if he comes here, it's not really because of Van Gaal.

I doubt he likes Pochettino enough to forgo money and a bigger club more likely to achieve success though.

Gary doesn't say Shaw will turn us down for Spurs. He just mentions Pochettino's link to Shaw as a possible spanner in the works for United. Journalists are little more than professional liars these days. they don't report what was actually said, they make it into something more or less than it really was to suit their agenda of getting clicks.

Bit of a cnut according to his former schoolmates: 'I'm too famous to talk to you plebs now'.

Maybe his former schoolmates are moneygrabbing twats who only want to be his mate now he has a footballer's salary.

Or he is a massive bellend. Not like he is going to stick out much in any dressing room he ends up in if that is the case.

I saw one of Southampton players doing a interview not long ago and they just stopped short of calling him an idiot basically.

The scrotes are probably banging on about potential transfers, which he obviously can't talk about.

That or Pete is chatting shite again.

Gibbs is a hero, he enjoys beating Spurs as much as the fans (quite apart from being a much better fullback than Shaw).

I remember Jamie Carragher talking about something like this in an interview a few years back. Part of what is required of the best athletes in the world now is total and utter dedication to their craft. So unfortunately, old friends often fall away (and usually don't take it well). It comes with the territory and not just because a certain player is prick.
