Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

He's going to get chances, Shaw is young enough not to have to play every week. Even Buttner got games. 5 starts is enough time to show if you should be starting more.

Another thing about Evra is his wages. He wouldnt have been getting the same as at United if he went to Inter.
buttner got games becuase evra is aging and we had also had CL football, so we had more games. this season we will have less games, so who ever is first choice will likly start most premier league games.

of course who evra is back up will get the odd game, but they will likly be week aprt, and mostly in the cups, where it is very hard to show what you can do, becuase you re normally surrounded by reserves and and players anoid they they arn't starting regular.

as for not having to play evry game becuase he is young? i personally think he needs to start more, to get him bedded in, keep his momentum going, heavily rotating him is rarely beneficial for any player.

and i dunno how much evra would earn at inter, but as the tax rate is lower and wages worked are worked out net(after tax) and not Gross(before tax) i would be very surpised if he earned less than here. but i dunno maybe he would.

Makes sense, doesn't it? Win-win for both sides. Chelsea get their long term Cole replacement and Southampton get another young, English LB with big club experience who is desperate for games that he won't get at Chelsea.
pish a few off on here if that were to happen...but you are right...it makes sense, but then again ...!!!

We could give them Buttner, they fancied him before we got him too.

Either way if Chelsea match our wages then we are screwed really. He's lived in the south all his life and doesn't want to move unless he has too. Let's just hope Chelsea won't give him what he wants.

He had 5 league starts as I said, thats not champions league football. Sure not a lot of time to show you've still got it but its enough. If he played poorly he only has himself to blame, the point is he'd have a chance of playing if he grabs his chance.

Evra rightfully became one of our better earners through playing well for us and being an important player. And its hard to ask a player to take a wage cut so it hasnt happened.

At Inter he'd be a 33 year old almost completely past it player with severe concerns about his defending coming in to retire after a season, of course they wouldn't be offering him as much as he's been getting here. The tradeoff is that he'd be playing every week like you said.

you also have to think if we didnt have an aging LB and didnt have CL football tirning players out, would buttner have got five league starts, i suspect not.

also evra is worth more in italy as the game is played at a slwer tempo so loss of pace isn't such and a issue, also inter wouldnt have to match his wages to let him walk away with the same money, because of the way wages are worked out over their.

the question still comes back to the same thing, would either player sign for us knowing that they wouldnt be first choice? personly i think not, you think evra would... i hope your right, but i personly think evra been here will cuase a stumbling block in the shaw deal.

Serie A is also the most tactical league and having a left back who cant defend is going to be the first thing that loses you a game as the opposition coach overloads the right.

Yes of course Evra would sign without being told he's going to be first choice. He was the one saying he wants to stay before we even offered him a new deal

I have little optimism with regards to Shaw signing. Why the hold up, we could have had it sewn up before WC squad was announced. Instead nothing happens for 3 weeks and then Evra agrees a year extension, Ashley Cole is not offered a deal and then Chelsea have sh1t loads of money from Luiz sale followed by rumors of a hold up in the deal.
Just sounds like typical United, terrible at getting deals done and tights as a nuns front bum and also typical Chelsea, sly bastards stealing our signings.
I never liked our chances of signing anyone when we were winning Leagues and getting to CL finals under SAF. Now....it will be a long and disappointing summer I'm afraid.

Why don't you next time just announce what your signings are, so that other clubs would know who they should stay away from.

Still waiting for any reliable article stating that Chelsea got involved. There could be various reasons why the deal hasn't been completed yet.

Indeed, most probably to do with England's brief stay in Brazil this year.

i don't think he would be happy to stay knowing he would be on the bench 90% of the season.

i guess were going round in circles, i very much hope shaw signs, plays as our first choice and evra fills in happily when he's tired, but i just don't think things will work out that way.

Ha did I hit a nerve, Mikel is the most obvious and money certainly played in part in swaying Essien and Hazard. What about poor Spurs and Willian didn't they put him through a medical before Roman got out a blank cheque!

Let's put it this way: do you really think Van Gaal came in and gave Evra guarantees about starting a lot of games next season? Is that a situation that seems even remotely likely to you?

Think he promised that to Buttner! ;)

I just pointed out the stupidity of calling another team player "your signing". He only becomes your signing when his club accepts your bid and he signs on a dotted line. Until then, he is anybody's signing.

Of course - I was being sarcastic by saying stealing our signings, something 99% of people on this forum are masters of. Don't take everything so seriously.

But Mikel at a press conference wearing his Man United shirt and big smile does spring to mind......

So will the Caf crash if Shaw ends up at Chelsea?

I'm betting yes.

Cant agree with that considering the position he plays in particular, we have been so weak there for so long, there is no doubt he would have been a useful asset in recent years.
Mikel as been awful for years, he makes Anderson look like Bryan Robson.

The only transfer I really want to happen this season, once this is secured I won't be half as worried. It's just too bloody obvious this lad is going to he one of the best in the world. As long as Chelsea don't come in we are safe in securing his services I reckon, once they do we can forget about it.

But Chelsea have been well stocked with players in that position since he first signed for them so he has rarely had a settled place in the team. Is it possible if he'd come to us he'd have played more regularly and been a little more consistent? Maybe Im clutching at straws. Doesnt make much difference now, anyway.

You think a left back is all we need? I'll tear my hair out if we don't get at least one, and preferably two, quality midfielders.

I know what you mean. I feel like if we get Shaw then everything else will fall into place.

Chris Smalling and Phil Jones could push this one over the line for us. They'll be with Shaw for what, a month, players talk to each other about these things.

Yeah, it's gonna be great. He'll ask them about their manager at United and they'll say they haven't even met him yet. Deal clincher! :smirk:

Spurs to join in now?

Will still be one of us and chelsea but pochettino will try I reckon.

Good news on the Shaw front.

It all fell apart when there were rumors claiming Pochettino was considering staying at Southampton but Shaw staying was among one of his demands.

The optimist in me thinks Shaw has signed the papers, nothing Pochettino could have done, he says feck it and goes to Spurs.
