Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

I don't know what measure you use to say that. The Caf's very "English" in terms of what they go for in a player. Phwaaaa, fast, strong and likes to cross. Technically and positionally inferior to Blind and Blind has a better left foot.

He's right. Shaw is far superior in the left back position than blind.

It's not even close.

I'm not, I watch plenty of Eredivise because I'm from Belgium originally and in my opinion Shaw is a much better player already. Bale is not worth a 100 million, yet he won them the Spanish cup and probably was a major influence in winning the Champions League. You pay the price for such players but that's how you win trophies and unfortunately we are in no strong position to negotiate for months trying to get the best deal possible, as players now have better options.

bale was already proven by the standard of his play and goalscoring record at Spurs. We can make no such claims to justify spending over the odds on Shaw.

Big difference between 100 and 27 million, Blind we'll spend 10m£ less and end up with a much lesser player who is also 6 years older, I just do not get the logic?

I don't understand why he seems so infatuated with Blind. Shaw has proven to already been a top three left-back in the league, and is only 18 years old. His ceiling surpasses anything Blind will reach.

Not to mention that it would be nice to try to keep an English core. I mean the Kroos deal, is one thing but I really hope that the Shaw deal is done.

I'm worried about Chelsea supposedly prepared to swoop in for Shaw. Money wouldn't be a problem given they have just sold David Luiz for £40 odd million, they need another LB as Ashley Cole (supposedly Shaw's idol as a youngster) is leaving, they'd give him the same wages we could and could provide him with Champions League football. All this added to the fact that he's a Chelsea fan and wouldn't have to relocate North if he moved there.

If, and it's still an IF at this stage, Chelsea do go in for Shaw then I'm pretty sure he'd pick them over us.

Really want us to wrap this deal up quickly to start of the summer. It could become a very bumpy ride if he ends up at Chelsea and frustration creeps in. :/

Yes hence why players such as Young, Welbeck and Rooney are loved here. You're right no one has ever moaned about crossing and strong players on the caf, "technical" ability is never used to rate players at all.

Rooney's mostly disliked for expressing his desire to leave in previous summers. Welbeck just doesn't score goals. If he scored more goals, the Caf would love him and Young is just dire, no matter what your preferences are.

When was the last time anyone can remember being so excited at the prospect of us signing a left back?

It's a first for me.

So, is this going to happen? Is it on? Is it off?

Jamie Jackson has decided it is back on.

With Ferdinand joining Nemanja Vidic in an expected exodus of players from United this close season, the 20-times champions remain in a strong position to sign Luke Shaw from Southampton despite his prospective transfer having stalled.

United had been convinced that the deal to take the left-back to Old Trafford was all but sealed and despite Shaw now taking time to consider his options and Chelsea – plus a host of other top domestic and continental clubs – closely monitoring his situation, it would still present a major surprise should United fail to secure the 18-year-old’s signature.

I've really waited for us to sign a LB since season 2010-2011, because Evra had really started declining. I've rated Coentrao really highly ever since WC 2010, so I was excited at the prospect of signing him on couple of occasions. But then again, most people haven't been as critical towards Evra during last few years.

Re: Blind,

I just think it`s tough for people to get too excited about a fullback who isn`t particularly quick.

He seems Chelsea bound to me the more time elapses. He wants first team football above all else understandably and Chelsea can now guarantee him that with the departure of Cole. Add into the equation that he loves Chelsea and seems the odds are against him signing with us.

With Filipe Luís apparently going nowhere I do think Chelsea will be prepared to meet Southampton's valuation.
Chelsea paid (relatively) silly money for Glen Johnson back in the day (£6M) but had to flog him when they discovered he couldn't defend. Three years ago Kyle Walker would have attracted a £20M fee... how would that have gone?

Jamie Jackson is becoming more ridiculous and annoying by the day.

You're trying to reason with the muppets. When the muppets decide a thing is good, to suggest otherwise is to kick against the goads.

Re: NoPace nice name for that comment lol.

Anyone else think this might be one huge smokescreen for us unveiling Ronaldo as our first signing?
