One of my closest mates, one of the nicest guys you'll find around, looks exactly like Woody. Recently and over the last couple of weeks, my inclination to punch him in the face grows and grows.

Good lord, the reactions in here are apocalyptic. Quite an achievement, considering the window hasn't even opened yet.
I think it's more of the fact that our 'supposed' huge rebuilding transfer window has a negative feel to it, the players everyone thought we were linked to are coming out and saying no to us. And now were getting linked to young Dutch players and James Mcarthy. Obviously the window isn't open yet and there's a long way to go, but the rumours aren't starting well and we were supposed to get a couple of targets in before the World Cup.
Think we already have it wrapped up and just want him totally focused on the World Cup so we've delayed the announcement.
We should set the tone and actually sign some players, make a statement before the WC after summers of disappointments that resulted in the worst Man Utd side in the last two decades.
Fair to say he's relaxed about the situation.

My problem is this summer, like last we were assured by our CEO that we'd make strides in the market to bring in players to make us challenge again. Last summer was awful and this summer has started the same in many ways. If you are comfortable with this then fine but I'm getting a bit pee'd with the way we seem to be dealing in the transfer market these last few years.

This summer hasn't started at all, mate. English players won't be signed/announced until after the World Cup, and the international window hasn't even opened yet. What did you expect to have happened?

Don't really care about the world cup TBH and neither would Manchester United it's an announcement not a pull out of the squad and come sign for us situation. If the deal is done, then just announce it already. It isn't done, we don't even know if there has been a bid put in. Usually clubs would come out and say "No, that's not enough rejected!" or "Southampton has accepted a bid from Manchester United for Luke Shaw for £29m" instead all we have is silence.
Transfers on World Cup year always tend to drag out, I don't see the issue here.
I agree, but it's fecking hard not to get frustrated isn't it. Transfers get bigged up and up and almost certainly fail most of the time. I say every window that I won't get sucked into the bullshit but I always do, there's nothing I can do about it. I'm a frigging muppet.
In fairness @Mister_Stubbs has a point. The club was wanting and least one or two deals done before the WC nothing has transpired as of right now. If nothing happens by Thursday, then nothing will happen until after the WC. Well PSG, Chelsea and maybe even Man City have already signed someone up who will join on July the 1st. So, I expect them to have something done by now. But instead all we got is silence just like last summer.
Honestly? Not really. Just don't pay so much attention to the transfer 'journalism'. This is the off season. Stop obsessing about football for a bit. Take a break, then come back and watch the world cup. Don't scour this forum and the gutter press sports sites every day for the latest unfounded, meaningless rumours.
I wouldn't mind if we were the only club. But with Chelsea most likely looking for another full back and Shaw being a perfect fit for them too then who knows.
You have no idea what the club wanted or was planning. No-one does. The entire 'frustrated muppet' thing comes out of people believing that the rumours in papers and on websites like the Express, SSN, Sun, Star etc actually mean anything. They don't, it's pretty much all fabricated to fill space and get views.
There's a very real possibility Chelsea are about to blow us out of the water at the last minute here.

Did anyone get the feeling that we were trying to keep the Evra renewal quiet initially? It only got announced after all the journos noticed he was on the retained players list. Did this have something to do with the Shaw deal?

Pretty much what @Brightonian's said. This is the first transfer window where I haven't really been following our transfer targets and the sagas following it. I've been more excited over the last two weeks for the World Cup if I'm being honest, and as such haven't paid much attention to the Kroos or Shaw storylines, but I can't say I care too much or have got involved in it. Until I hear something official from the appropriate channels, I'll kept my inner muppet on a leash.

No, from what i understand he wanted to comeback in France because of family issues, everyone was sure that he was going to play for PSG or Monaco but it seems that Van Gaal really wanted him.
Now i think that if Moyes was still here he would have gone but Giggs and Van Gaal convinced him to stay because we lack experienced players with Vidic and Rio gone. And since Evra really loves the club he accepted to stay one season.
