Santon? Really? Poor player. Balotelli? Nut case. Robben and cech were signed while ranieri was in charge and I doubt if Mourinho was in charge he would have signed them. Top players though.
Fair enough on varane.
I'll have you know that Santon was considered the next the Italian defender like Bergomi or Maldini under Jose's tutelage at Inter. It's not Mourinho's fault that he later suffered horrible injuries and failed to live up to his initial promise.
What does Balotelli's being a nutcase have to do with Jose and encouraging young players ?
So what if they were signed when Ranieri was incharge ? Jose gave them the chance. If he was so opposed to promoting youth as some claim, they'd been fixtures on the Chelsea bench rather than playing substantial roles right away.
Not making a case for Jose but in fairness never really had the chance to promote young players because he's been club-hopping so often. Almost every manager wants to play senior experienced players in the initial years because it's less risky and there's less chance of being fired. Young players are inherently inconsistent and the see-saw performances won't be condoned by the boards of Real or Inter.
I'd 100 % Shaw chooses United but at the same time I can't imagine why a player like Shaw would be deterred by Mourinho when he's almost nailed on to be a starter if he signs for Chelsea. Azpilicueta will shift to his natural role at RB and Ivanovic/ Zouma caan deputize at CB. Simples. Not to mention Shaw has affinity for Chelsea and even though he's a professional they have a good future with the Mourinho at the helm, CL football, Luiz money, London, likes of Hazard, Oscar when he returns to form and maybe even Courtouis. They have a good core for the near term.
