Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

For all we know it could be completed but for some reason, we're just delaying the announcement like we did with van Gaal. No one really knows because reporters tell us only what they're told by the clubs. After the initial bid was made public and Sky reported it, we didn't see that it was rejected on Sky Sports, only Jamie Jackson reported it as rejected. This tells me that either Southampton are still evaluating their options before giving us a reply or they're stalling until after the world cup to get a better deal.

If the initial bid of 27m was made public by one or both clubs, why not make the rejection public if it was really there like Everton did with the Baines bid, they instantly made the rejection public.

Woody looks like stalling a bit because he was talking about deals long before World Cup which clearly aren't completed. It must be again quite a difficult situation for him, especially after last summer's comedy.

United will probably announce something if it's gonna be 120% done with solid proof for the media which are quite unforgiving for Wooden Ed... and he may even deserve some of that critique.

I can imagine Van Gaal giving him some of his hairdryer as this man knows no mercy for misunderstanding on such high level of club football. That list he gave Ed is a must have if we want something from upcoming season.

reading on Facebook , that MUTV are saying the deal is done.

MUTV don't report anything officially. If there's an official announcement, it'll come directly from the club via a statement or the official site. MUTV are slightly separated from the club proper, and aren't used as an official mouthpiece.

If the deal goes through can everyone go back to ignoring Jamie Jackson?

I don't understand the argument of Evra re-signs so Shaw says no.

Buttner isn't relevant, so it seems odd that Shaw would be concerned about having a 33 year old understudy.

Your causality is reversed.

It's interesting that, after sitting on the fence for so long, Evra exercised his extension option at the exact moment the media said our signing of his successor, previously reported as a certainty, was in trouble. Did Evra have a chat with people at OT, perhaps even Woodward, before making his decision? Did he get word the Shaw deal had stalled and was unlikely to take place?

Who knows? We certainly don't. But it's worth a little speculation on a United forum.

All completely meaningless, though, if you listen to Evra's interviews and comments during the latter stages of the season and after it ended. He obviously always planned to stay if he was able to. So it makes no sense to suggest that he did in in response to some development in the Shaw situation.

Seen a few shots on SSN with Luke Shaw walking along having a cosy chat with Tony Strudwick. Obviously the tapping-up is taking place.

Care to share? This is the sort of obviously meaningless stuff upon which transfer sagas are built. Maybe he'll write something on a football.

They showed a little clip of Shaw and Barkley walking to a training pitch with Tong Strudwick and Shaw in conversion with Gerrard's interview as a voiceover...talking about how those two are there on merit.

My post was tongue in cheek. I didn't even know Strudwick was involved in the England set up until that moment.

I'm not saying he did, but two events which are logically linked, and might happen at any time, occurring at the same time, should give rise to suspicion. I wouldn't say there's no such thing as coincidence, but..

I don't want to be too argumentative, but what do you mean when you say he always planned to stay if he was able to? Surely it was his decision. Unless you mean if he received assurances about his role next season? Which wouldn't be completely unrelated to the purchase of Shaw.

Anyway, you may well be right. I wouldn't bet a large sum of money against it. We'll see.

It's not on his favourites anymore. It'll just be a case like what happened last time when he favourited that girl saying that she hoped that he'd sign for United. Accidental.

Manchester United's transfer plans are in danger of collapse.

Arjen Robben has became the third Bayern Munich player inside a week to snub a move to Old Trafford.

And Luke Shaw’s proposed £27million switch from Southampton to United is also back in the balance after cash-rich Chelsea revived their interest in the England left-back.

It leaves vice-chairman Ed Woodward fighting to deliver on a £200million promise to new manager Louis van Gaal that he will add stellar names to the United squad before the Dutchman takes over after the World Cup.

High-level sources at Old Trafford insisted last night that NONE of the club’s top targets have “slipped the net.”

United denied claims from Germany that they registered an interest in Robben - which makes the Dutch winger’s declaration that will not be moving to Manchester even more mystifying.

And the Reds are also adamant that THEY pulled the plug on a proposed £20million deal to land Toni Kroos - despite a long-term drive to land the German playmaker.

Robben, Kroos and team-mate Thomas Muller have now all declared they have no wish to move to Old Trafford.

“I don’t want to join United,” said Robben as he prepares for Holland’s World Cup campaign under the guidance of Van Gaal.

“Even if United and Bayern are able to agree a deal over a transfer fee I will not move to Manchester.”

It seems United are now also facing a battle to land England defender Shaw.

Chelsea have banked £48m from the sale of David Luiz to Paris St Germain and Jose Mourinho needs a new left-back after allowing Ashley Cole’s contract to expire.

Van Gaal has also told United that Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels and Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman are the two players he covets most.

Dortmund want £30million for Hummels, while a move to Strootman will be out on hold until January, when the Dutchman is expected to have recovered from a cruciate knee injury.

However, United are discovering that their inability to offer Champions League football is having an impact on their recruitment drive.

It has embarrassing echoes of last summer’s transfer-market humiliation.

God don't let it be a repeat of last summer or we're totally screwed. :( Not even the media has confidence of us making a top signing. Used to be all about reports linking every player close to joining us, now it's totally opposite. Linking every player to having rejected us.

Robben was quoted by De Telegraaf as saying "Look, it's very different when you're not completely happy. I would certainly be open to it, because I had a fantastic time with Van Gaal at FC Bayern and know what I have with him. He's very important in my career. Anyway, the fact is that I'm at a club where my family and I have great time.

"Van Gaal and Guardiola are the best trainers with whom I worked. So yes, I feel good and stay where I am. The chance is zero that I make the switch."

The club should keep its mouth shut (I'm talking to you woody wood pecker) until the deals are done.

Shaw favourited this:

And the muppets go...

Anyway, I take it we are not getting him so? Would not know any other decent young left backs out there, fairly disappointed with this news to be honest. We are making pure balls of this transfer window as predicted.

No he will sign.

Skybet are replying that to anyone asking why the Luke Shaw betting has been suspended. I'm surprised this didn't get more attention here.

I really do hope it's not Chelsea. Anyone but them.

reading on Facebook , that MUTV are saying the deal is done.
Just a few journalists' opinions on a programme called 'United in Press' where they discuss stories in the media regarding us over the past week, mainly transfer gossip at this time of year. Not the opinions of anyone at the club or nothing official from the club.

Two weeks after the season has ended. He hasn't moved to another club. Just be patient.

If it was Chelsea we'd know about it wouldn't we?
I hope you're right mate. Chelsea are very sneaky, look at how they signed Hazard after being linked with both Manchester clubs for so long! They came out of nowhere!
